Thanks for all your great HX Stomp demo's and free patch giveaways! I can't believe that you only have 1K followers as UA-cam HX Stomp bass stuff is pretty thin on the ground. Your hard work is very much appreciated! 🤘👍
Thank you very much - I appreciate the feedback. Yes it’s hard to come by (as I’ve found myself when searching) so I decided to put some stuff up to try and fill the gap. I’m not a pro by any means but try to share as much as I can about what I know and have learnt to hopefully help others on the bass journey!
Thanks - I agree there are lots to choose from and you can dial in a great tone - I largely used the stock settings here. I find that having 50% dry 50% wet (parallel path) in the signal chain helps retain the low end - without this it can sound a bit thin, and lifeless, unless the pedal it’s emulating has an adjustable blend control.
@@ShaksBassChannel that’s true, still the hx stomp is definitely a great multi- effects processor to purchase. I don’t own one personally, but my brother and my friend had one. They both told me how awesome they sounded. I haven’t used anything from line 6 in years, but I would get the line 6 hx stomp if I ever needed a new multi-fxs processor
I’m curious. What are your favorite drive pedals here for bass? I’m looking for one that gives the crunch on the top end, but retains low end and doesn’t make it sound brittle.
I like the ‘Teemah!’ best. If you add a parallel signal path you should be able to retain your low end with any of the distortion blocks if you adjust the split to your liking. You could try the ‘Valve Driver’, ‘Legendary Drive’ or ‘Clawthorn Drive’ (without Fuzz). Also sometimes you can get a better drive sound out of a bass amp block by increasing the amp gain. Hope this helps.
I set almost all of my presets up with a parallel dry signal path so that I am always retaining the natural tone and low end from the instrument. It definitely helps when using the drive blocks!
I usually leave the amp as it is upfront but create a parallel path after it for the cab as you can lose too much of your direct sound. You can tweak the split amount to taste then. I mainly either create amp and cab type presets or effect type presets that don’t use amps/cabs. I occasionally combine the two but use them for different things. The effects are like what I’d usually have on my pedalboard that I’d play through my own amp and cab whereas the amp and cab ones are used for recording direct.
It’s a useful tool for when you want to try some different sounds but don’t want to spend loads on individual pedals. I managed to pick mine up second hand after selling a few unused pedals.

New subscriber. I think I’ve found a hidden gem of a channel. Good stuff sir 👍. I’m definitely getting an HX Stomp.
Thank you! Awesome - you won’t regret it - there’s lots to play around with to get tones to inspire your playing.

Great video! What amp are you using?
Thanks - it’s the Ampeg SVT-4 PRO

Did you change the A-B levels for this? Or did you use a crossover?
I think it was a straight 50/50 split for A and B
@@ShaksBassChannel Nice, I'll give that a go!

@@ShaksBassChannel Does that include using an amp and cab sim? Do they tend to go on the drive path?

Very interesting. I've not got a stomp as yet!

I will pull the trigger at some point- you need to be on commission.@@ShaksBassChannel
