Thanks! It took me a while to get going with mine to be honest as the in-built presets aren’t great and I didn’t really understand how to set the gain/ levels so that I didn’t have a massively high output and all the presets were at different volumes levels which was stressing me out. But once you learn a little bit it’s actually really easy use and dial in the sound you want. I picked mine up second hand so it’s always worth keeping a look out for a good deal. It’s also great to have when I need to record guitar for demos too.
Some very cool tones. Seems like you're getting very comfortable programming the system. Do you do a lot of fine tweaking to dial each sound in for a specific bass? I notice you're using two different basses in the video, have you found the tones translate well across multiple types of basses? The bass on film sound- was it inspired by Ian Martin-Allisons Montana? Thanks again
Thanks. I usually just use one bass when dialing in a preset - a p or j usually. Most presets translate to other instruments well I’ve found. Unless it’s something really specific it usually works. For example the Beatles preset is more suited to a short scale with flats. I try to avoid too much fine tweaking because it takes time away from playing and being creative on the instrument itself. If I’ve already decided which bass I’m using, I usually try to quickly find a useable preset when recording that suits the song. Yes - I was very much inspired by hearing Ian’s Montana and created my own take on it. I have since purchased Ian’s Signature pack and it’s fantastic!
Thanks - to be honest I don’t use much compression - I always have it set quite low in terms of the impact to the dynamic range. I use it more as a tone enhancer, as I really like the colouration you get from the Cali 76. I think you can achieve similar results from the HX Stomp to be honest but I haven’t spent much time dialing in the compressors. I might try using them on the next batch of presets to give people the option of leaving it on or switching it off when using an external one.
Thanks so much for these!!! I'm a bear of very specific taste and that Duff Tone is perfect(massive Gn'r / Duff fan)... was at loose end trying to find a bass preset for my rock version of Old McDonald, the Duff one instantly saved the day (YOU saved the day!) 😂 Would be cool if you could watch my video in about 3 weeks it will be uploaded. Thanks again, you have really helped me out loads on bass - from style playing, to using the right presets. Thanks a million💛🐻
You’re welcome. I like the tone colouration you get from the Cali76 and like having the ease of access to physical controls if I need to tweak the amount of compression. I don’t tend to edit presets on the actual HX Stomp - I only tweak when connected to HX Edit on a PC. I might look into creating some presets using the HX Stomp compressor blocks in the future for a change.
@@ShaksBassChannel I see, I heard many people love it. I don't know if you already done it but what about trying an oc2 emulation? I'm sure you can nail it...
Wow the downtuned patches were the best I've heard. I bought to pedals to try to cheat that and they both sounded artifacty and horrible. This actually sounds like it'd totally pass in a mix.
Thanks - yes I’ve used this preset quite a bit when learning songs in Eb - I just use headphones when playing along so that I can’t hear the acoustic sound of the bass. It works for me. I haven’t tried recording with it but depending on the parts I think you could get away with using it or playing live even!
It could be because you are running older firmware on your HX Stomp. Try updating to the latest firmware for the device and then following this video for importing the presets: ua-cam.com/video/rjXxfkmFtK0/v-deo.htmlsi=AWESxRZMukVBR5wX Let me know what’s not working and I can try to help.
If you have the latest version of HX Edit installed on your computer too - once the device is connected via USB - open HX Edit and you just need to click Import Preset and selected the file/s.
The presets won’t be for everyone but most compressor users tend to have an external one on their board. If not it’s simple enough to add a compressor block into the presets if desired. I added notes in the description to clarify the use of the compressor and shown it in the video for transparency: Note- I typically run a compressor pedal (Cali76 Compact Bass) first in my signal chain prior to the HX Stomp, so I usually omit a compressor block in my presets.
These are excellent!!! You're very good to be sharing these with others for free - you've restored my faith in humanity
Thanks - I’m glad you like them!
these are great! thank you so much for posting these for free, They're really helping me learn how to use my new stomp :)
No problem. Glad they’ve helped!
These sound great but I'm always happy to see other people making inside jokes with the names of their presets/snapshots :D
Thanks for sharing!
😂 It makes them a bit more distinctive than ‘Bass Sound 1’, ‘’Bass Sound 2’ etc
These sound GREAT Shak! Nice job! One of these days I really need to pick up an HX Stomp. Stay healthy! Brent

Peaches was such a throwback for me. I used to listen to Presidents of the United States as a kid!
Me too - I had that album!
Thanks for sharing Shak!

These sound great! Just out of curiosity - why the external compressor instead of one of the ones built into the stomp?

Thamk you so much. Any particular reason why you're using the cali instead of the stomp compressor?

Yes the ‘bass octaver’ is an OC2 emulation - I was thinking of incorporating it into a future octave/fuzz preset. Watch this space 😀
sorry, but what is the melody you play in the Solo bass preset? its lovely
Hi - that’s an excerpt from the start of ‘Cello Suite No. 1’ by Johann Sebastian Bach
@@ShaksBassChannel merci beaucoup :)

where is the link of the download?
