Notes for 1.0! This still works. You may have to hold control when placing tube segments to allow clipping. Also, you can use this WAY earlier! The parachute is now re-usable and it pairs SO good with this.
Toasted, I gotta' say, you're *very* quickly becoming my favorite Satisfactory UA-camr. I love your approach, the writing and the information. Keep at it, look forward to seeing the next video!
Hey Toaster, discovered your Satisfactory Train tutorials as I was aiming to set up my own network. Your tutorial videos are extremely well structured, informative, concise, and importantly entertaining. You've already become an invaluable resource in this community and I can't wait for Trains Pt 3 or whatever content you put out!
I like using a circular hypertube accelerator instead of a linear one for medium distances. All you have to do is make a circular design with 4 entrances and you will accelerate until your speed is too fast to be registered by the next entrance. The design is a bit finicky because it will fling you in the same direction that you entered from, but slightly offset to the right or left depending on the direction of your spin. However, it has a smaller footprint, a smaller power draw with only 4 entrances needed, and 4 directions to be flinged towards since the accelerator will launch you in a different direction depending on which entrance you use. Now that blueprints are a thing, I plan to make it a 2 story print where the first floor has the accelerator and launchers, and the second floor the access point so I can choose the destination.
I built my straight section cannon in the blueprint machine, piped and wired... saves heaps of time given you only need to add a few prints end to end, delete what you don't want and just create the angled exit tube.
Hi! I have noticed that it looks like it won't, rotate it so that the tube goes in a straight line then it can touch the hypertube support! Ask if you need a hand
Personally i like using hypertube cannons in conjuction with regular hypertubes just to help speed up transit times; i setup one in the desert between two bases on opposite ends with a 15 length cannon on each end and it gets me back and forth really fast (though there may be some complaints about broken bones for repeatedly slamming horizontally into concrete)
i think would be good to mention that you can use the console commands to remove the game fog in order to see where you are going while flying. you have to press the ' key which is above Tab and the type "r.fog 0" without the ". Removing fog also help while building if you are really high and in some biomes.
Another point about hyper tubes is that the distance you go can also be alter by how fast your initial speed is when you enter the Tube. (ex. walking into the tube won't go as far as slide jumping into the tube)
Moderated random humour, not just throwing in memes and noises every other ten seconds. That's when it's best. Either keep it straight the whole time, or use properly timed and restrained humour to emphasise a point. Toaster can do it, some people just go overboard and make it annoying and childish.

Some are mentioning that update 7 may have broken hypertube cannons, I'll take a closer look into this and update this post with any findings. Edit: They still seem to be functioning fine with update 7.
I'm still building and using them ok in 7... as for trying to find that sweet spot to where I want to land is more the challenge for me... ie. ending up half way slammed into a hill, clip through the ground flying under the terrain or punted into the next universe is another issue ha ha. (Thank goodness for save game and reload!)
I've always struggled with these cannons. I feel like I've followed along with these instructions but I do not seem to get nearly the power the author is describing. A 16-entrance cannon barely gets me out of the biome let alone across the whole map. The speed at which you hit the first entrance also seems to have a significant influence, i.e. slide jumping vs barely walking into it.... I wish I knew what I was doing wrong. I'd love to make use of these.
Have you tried maybe increasing the end length? I personally build them a little different, putting a hypertube (ht) foundation thingy every two "studs", then do half entrances, drag a tube to the next foundation and remove the foundation. Then i get 8 studs, or a foundation i believe and the build my exit. Another thing you could try is building it on a dropped iron plate for more accuracy and changing the end angle
Not sure if this changed with 1.0.but I just tested it and spacing entrances 2 metres apart gives me more speed. This one still looks much nicer and compact though. .)
Have they recently fixed the physics of the tubes? I keep exiting at the same speed regardless of how many enterances I use. It also doesn't give me the autoconnect function.
nah it seems to function like in this video, with a turn, i needed 16 entrances to go space (and die), in my experiences i could launch me thru the entire map with 18 and an low angled exit point
I built this exactly as you have and it doesn’t launch me up. I have messed with a longer exit and aimed as much up as I can and it still just throws me like 5 ft above the ground.
@@ProgNoizesB I just tested it and it works fine, it's fiddly af to get it right, follow the video VERY closely.. i had to remake a couple of times due to oversights
If you wanna have a fast controlled transport, just build a normal hypertube but instead of an normal entrance put an cannon. You will travel thru the tube at mach infinite. And then the speed is unlimited. And you are sure where you exit.
Anyone else notice the same cannon design can have 2 very different exit velocities? It remains consistent for each cannon placed, but i cant figure out how to recreate the faster one. Anyone know? Edit: after more testing i found direction matters. Place foundation on empty ground holding ctrl, to align with world grid. Place accelerators going north or west. They get you about twice as far compared to east or south. Tube on exit can bend in any direction, wont affect the speed.
This doesnt appear to work anymore, whenever you go to place the second support it stays red, regardless if you hit ctrl. It wont let you place unless it is about 3 foundations long.
Hi Toaster, could you confirm for me that this doesnt work for strictly vertical travel? I tried: setting up a horizontal cannon with vertical exit (this worked but needed to be huge to achieve reasonable height setting up a vertical cannon (did not work) setting up a vertical cannon with a connected vertical tube (did not work) setting up a horizontal cannon with a connected vertical tube (did not work) Is there any better way to traverse your factories horizontally? everything seems so slow.
I can confirm that the hypertube cyclotron style cannon will give you an insane boost for both horizontal and vertical travel when traveling through hypertubes. It's relatively small compared to the standard hypertube cannon, but be warned, it will give you a MASSIVE boost through the hypertube. I may have to make a video on it now lol This is the video that I based my quick build off of: ua-cam.com/video/GYbjSCCOMDU/v-deo.html
Now build a jumppad pointing into the entrance of your cannon, hop onto the jumppad instead of into the cannon itself and say Nope to being forcefully dropped onto a planet by your employers. :D
I've set 2 of these up to get across the map. one of them has 17 entrances and gets me to my base fine the other one has 25 and doesnt even get me halfway the same distance... what am i doing wrong
Try raising the angle of your exit tube, I've noticed that a lower pointed cannon doesn't generate nearly as much speed as it should. But a higher pointed cannon, especially with 25 segments, will probably send you to space
You don't need to build the whole cannon higher up. The accelerator unit of the cannon can bin on the ground just build only the exit tube higher up. Problem solved
It appears that they still work in update 7, sometimes this can happen if you accidently placed down a hypertube entrance facing in the wrong direction
I hope you were able to figure it out, try running or sliding into it to gain extra momentum which should fling you a bit further, and try changing the angle of the hypertube exit as well
I started playing about a week ago and I did unlock everything in tier 4 and I got one shoted by a warthog mob with a jetpack XD and my autosave was right infront of it so I died 3- 4 times but I got a jetpack XD but I have 0 fuel XD I'm close to unlocking phase 3 tough XD
HOW DO YOU GET THEM CLOSE TOGETHER? U CANT DO IT ANYMORE?... edit ... THE FIRST support you put down has to be in the right direction just copy and flip it and start over it works.
I'd have to see for myself, but try changing the angle of the exit tube by aiming it higher. If it's pointed too low, you won't generate as much speed as you should.
never build with 1m foundations. never ever. unless something has changed with 1.0 (which i don't think it has) the game measures the grid you build on from the center of the platform, not the top. That means if you have a 1m platform, when you snap to grid you are using a grid that snaps in increments of .5 meters, not 1m. so if you ever use a 2m or a 4m, chances are that your buildings will never match up. nothing is more frustrating to realize that half of your world is built .5 meters below or above your other grid platforms. Nothing will snap together. Placing your factory building may be off and you wont know why. Just never ever use the 1m platform and ramp unless it's already connected to a 2 or 4m ramp or foundation. Why the game does this is beyond me, but this peeved me off so much when i found out why my platforms never matched up, even though i snaped them to the grid.
If you hold CTRL when placing the first foundation, then it will snap to the global grid, and will connect fine to other locations, as long you always place the first foundation with CTRL

12:38 - top tier quality editing right there!
If you have trouble placing the supports close together, you might need to rotate them, just a weird issue I had
thx - devs not only changed the game price up like crazy but also but more stupid bugs, like this one
Also if you put a strip of MK5 belt in front of the entrance and equip the blade runners, you can greatly increase your speed and range.
Would that work to reduce the power requirements and make the cannon itself shorter for the same range?
@@AndrooUK Yes, it would.
