This is a great tutorial. I think sometimes people get overwhelmed by the collage process, but you've shown that abstract collage can be a great entry point for beginners.

Ooh, I like to use the small papers too, but I never thought to use a view finder. This will add more interest to what I've been doing. Also, never tried the monchromatic. Can't wait to try it out.
Thank you so much! Like others who have commented, I, too, have watched many videos, have worked with paper for years, and have tried to understand different types of collage. Two things you said really helped me relax: 1 you said there is no formula with collage just do what you like--then you demonstrated it!
2 you said using a view window is helpful to see what works together. Why didn't I think of that?

Lydia I chose to make my 4" Inch square 4 and 1/4" square so that 4" matboard can be used to frame the 4 and 1/4. Thank you for teaching this abstract class it is greatly appreciated.

working with a specific topic is not really my thing. mostly i let myself be inspired by the material

Where did you buy the paper for your collage?
I don't buy this much paper for collage. I use scraps from other projects, newspaper, magazins. Or I make them by myself
