If Kurt was a pro wrestler, Cornette probably would have defended his personal life. Cobain went out like quite a few pro wrestlers over the years. Drug addiction, depression, dysfunctional family life.
As a general rule, people kill themselves because they're in unbearable physical or emotional pain.
People have become more forgiving of those killing themselves due to physical pain, but for some reason, suicide due to emotional pain is still stigmatized.
People dealing with depression can't just "buck up" and "deal with it"
And just because you become a millionaire, doesn't mean the depression goes away.
And as for getting help? They'll just gives you meds so you're basically trading one type of drugs for another.
Jim Cornette is constantly talking shit about anybody and everybody. Especially when he has no idea what he's talking about. His sidekick isn't much better.
the problem is that he only thought of himself and how miserable he was, he didnt consider the child that he was responsible for raising, he killed himself out of pure selfishness. "emotional pain" is not an excuse, theres 8 year old kids working in sweatshops 12 hours a day where their only payment is a fucking crumb of bread and youre telling me that a millionaire rockstar with a wife and child who doesnt even have a real job couldnt handle his problems? cry me a river, life isnt easy for anyone, doesnt justify being a pussy bitch and killing yourself, especially when youre responsible for a child

Same here, I agree with none of it, but it’s his platform and he is entitled to his opinion. Plus? He’s a wrestling savant and I love the old stories about the territories. You just can’t agree with someone all time time. It just ain’t natural, as the old commercial went.

Somebody once said something about diminished opportunities. What? The guy was a millionaire with a wife & young child who couldn't cope with people being interested in him. Yes he may have been mentally ill, but that doesn't change the fact that he had other options. What he did was nothing but a selfish & unnecessary act.

Always enjoy listening to Cornette, but not this time. What goes through the heads of the mentally ill is beyond those of us who aren't. We can't relate to the despair people like Cobain, or Chris Cornell, or Robin Williams feel. Also, is Cornette this critical of Chris Benoit and the Von Erichs?

As someone that had a family member die of an overdose, leaving behind four kids, because the drugs were more important, I am totally in Camp Cornette on this issue.

Kurt Cobain didn’t die of an overdose. He put a gun to his head, pulled the trigger, and a bullet went into his brain. There’s a very big difference between someone dying of an accidental 🎉overdose from a gunshot wound to the head, both the physical reasons for it, definitely the mentality of the victim of it. An accidental overdose isn’t even really suicide.
Any one of a certain age in the 90's thought that Nirvana was the greatest band to come along in a long, long time.
They wiped hair metal off the map entirely and knocked Michael Jackson off the top of the charts (double win)

Of course, once anything reaches a certain height in popularity, there's always a back lash from a small percentage who are always looking for something to be angry about.

The stomach ailment was from heroin usage, you can destroy your insides from and if not treated with methadone or something the pain gets worse until you use again.

He was taking heroin because of the stomach ailment. It's well documented that it was the only thing that gave him any relief from "the pit of his burning stomach." However once he got addicted & was spending $500 a day on heroin it opened up a whole new Pandoras Box & everything spiraled out of control.

I don’t really want to stir the conspiracy theorists (even being one myself) but I do recall a couple of years ago watching a documentary about Kurt and there was a guy that slipped up saying Courtney put him up to it (shooting Kurt) but I’d have to find that again. I do remember hearing that though and thinking that’s never going to give anyone closure.
Well, the idea that Kurt was trying to be a big rockstar is questionable in the first place. It would seem to me he was trying to be a relatively well-off DIY artist, and the fame mostly happened by accident. I doubt Cornette's aware that DIY is even an option in the music business. Plus, I've never heard the "baby in the cab" story anywhere else. Which makes me think it probably never happened. That sounds like one of those urban myths to me.

This is the first time I have ever given a thumbs down to you Mr. Cornette. Suicide is no joke. 90% of all suicide, are men in US. Something is wrong with these poor souls. I love Jim but he is totally wrong here in my opinion! He seems to think that if you are rich there are no problems anymore in your life. But that is not true! Having a lot of money doesn't always mean that you have a beautiful life! I know poor people that are happier than rich people i know!!! Dealing with depression and heroin isn't fun. And if you are a rich heroin addict money is a curse! Because there is no reason for you to stop because money is not a problem for you. To be honest i am talking about my past in a certain way. I have avoided this podcast because I am a huge Kurt fan and I am a huge fan of Jim cornette but Jim clearly needs educate himself on situations like this before he speaks yes Kurt had a lot of problems and would have killed himself but love had him murdered and FYI Kurt is as big or bigger than Jimmy Page and Mick Jagger and his stomach problem was so bad more than one doctor said it was the worst they had ever seen and as for stop doing heroin I can tell you from personal experience it's not that easy I'm an opiate addict I have a little over 900 days clean after 28 rehabs and over 25 years of addiction it's personal hell and to survive it is to walk through hell and fight with everything you have inside you love the show but Jim and me will have to agree to disagree on this
