Thats easily in the top 3 nest/funniest scenes from this movie. The way it impacts and comes up while moving forward, it's almost too much. Just nothing but embarrassing failure, poor dude at that point.
@@simplemann101 hahaha. It’s just ironic that the car hit the dumpster like it was trying to trying to tell the Dude to put it out of its misery already

Absolutely! I'm a huge fan of the Cohen Bro's. Each one of their flicks is fantastic and each one is 100 % DIFFERENT -- they never repeated themselves! But TBL will always remain my favourite. So many hilarious details to be discovered on the many times I have re-viewed this masterpiece. Me, loving Bob Dylan and cats, remembers vividly "Inside Llewin Davis" , then there was another masterpiece "The Man who wasn't there" with some great acting by a genius Billy Bob Thornton, an exquisite tribute to some sleek b/w cinematography by Roger Deakins, earning an Oscar nomination. Then there is also a fast talking attorney by an unforgettable Tony Shalhoub.
The Dude driving his dilapidated piece of shit car with a beer in one hand and a joint in the other while listening to Creedence in blissful satisfaction never ceases to make me happy.
Best scene of the whole movie, period. I can see it 1000 times and stil laugh like crazy. Can't imagine other music which would fit to this scene better :))
I just love this movie because it really gives a perception on life and how crazy and random things can be. It also really goes to show you that people try to find happiness in anyway they can especially in this crazy world we live in today. If alcohol or drugs give you happiness, then so be it.
His tires gets popped by Walters uzi, smashes into a power line pole, gets stolen, smashes into a trash can, gets windshield smashed, then set on fire. His car couldn't get a break!!

I was in a very depressed period two years ago and had not watched 'the dude' before that day. So I saw a trailer and decided to watch it. It was totally amazing and positive-charging, I laughed genuinely during this movie. When it was over I was a little gloomy about that but also my mood was far better. One thing I hate about this movie- I Watched it and couldn't find any so good-humoured and cool movie. I was kinda said when I saw the ending credits.
I LOL so hard when he hits that dumpster every time. This and the Jackie Treehorn phone sketch are the best clips. This whole movie rocks, that is why I own it.
I religiously smack the side of my car in beat to Lookin' out my back door whenever it plays on my driving playlist. Do The Dude justice, abide The Dude.
Because Fogarty wrote this for his kid, I always assumed "doo-doo, lookin’ out my back door" was a humorous reference to needing to go to the toilet. 🤔
That song really tied the scene together.
