Need a programmer for a 2002 ford thunderbird. Tried SVT and other brands as well, tripped the pas anti theft system before even downloading the stock tune. Can't find any compatible tuners on the web. What's the big secret? Anyone know why a simple tuner won't work on this model car when they work on almost any other model ford?
Not every ECU/model has the same level of support and not all ECUs are the same. It can seem unfair, but simply some cars are more popular with aftermarket products and tuning than others. I had a quick look and found this: www.stinger-performance.com/store/ecm-reflash-pats-delete-ford And saw this in an old forum thread: "A regular tuner will not turn it off, and Ford will not turn it off either. You can get a tuner from SCT that will do it, however you need a custom tune written to disable the PATS " Maybe have another chat to SVT specifically around your PATS issues if you haven't already and see what they advice first. I am not familiar with those old Fords and we used HP Tuners on our later model example which didn't have to go through this process so can't really help with any experience, but SVT, Stinger and even SCT or an SCT tuner should be able to advise you - Taz.
