- We really wanted to put something out on 9-14 day. But need some time to do the whole video. But here's a Teaser. Go out and enjoy your car, whatever it is!
Some background on this car. It started out as a 1.8 VW engine and what do you know, it ended up with a 1.8 VW/Audi engine. With a Turbo!. (and a V8 somewhere in between)
It's the Journey, not the Destination!

Porsche 914 1.8T
Nice video. That 914 sounds nice. I regret selling mine.
There will be another later I'm sure!! It's hard to permanently stay away from the platform.
Who new, 3 months later I would have another 914. Anyway, I’m still waiting on that video you promised us (1.8 turbo vs LS).
i love that car
haha this is so sick man, i wanna do this same swap someday. Love to see it
Very cool. We have had a couple V8s and they are fun. Working on stuff for a 4.2 gm engine in one now (using and extra V-8 kit we have). One of our guys has a crown Corvair and is having trouble with over heating. I have been talking with him about the electric water pump. We all like autocross and would be nice to run the cooling system in between runs.
You talked on another video about the transaxle you selected for the car? Could you find a 1.8 Audi with a manual trans axel? Did the half shafts need to be modified?
Electric water pumps are great! We have one in the LS6 turbo 914 as well as the orange one. Both Davies Craig units with the controller. The controller is worth the price by itself (it's cheaper to buy it from Australia ebay fyi).
Trani for the 1.8 is the 5 speed Audi fwd. Good for about 350tq IMHO. Half shafts are out of the box VW bus 100mm units. Off the shelf stuff. Flanges were changed to boxster 100mm flanges and the outside stub axle has a machined adapter. Really simple setup and love it!
There is something so right about using the VW 1.8. Though its a renegade it really blurs the lines since the original was a VW. I have been considering the LS conversion but there is so much that can be done to the 1.8 to make real and usable power and that there are less of them around that I really want to do it now. Love ur build.
Thanks! We love it too! It's a really nice engine in the 914. And you really don't have to go crazy with the build to have fun but it's a great platform that rewards it if you do as they can make insane power.
Man its looking really dry there this time a year awesome video as usual keep it up guys.
This is down in California so yes it's a bit dry right now :)
@@budgetoutlaws9978 lol yep that would explain that
Is there a link to your flares? love those too
Not sure if they are made anymore but they are HPH flares by Rich Bontempi

Sweet! What size wheels and tires are you running?
These are the small /sticky set. It's 16x8s and 9s. With 225/245. I'm just about to bump that up to 255/50/16s front and back as the tires are done... this is the "sticky" set. But the fenders can handle about 255 on 9s up front and 295 on 10s in the rear. That's what I have on my big set of wheels.
how much hp? and boost pressure?
We have the orange car set up at about 300 whp which takes about 15 pounds of boost.
