This instrument is now one of my favourites in the Preston collection. It's just so mighty it literally filled almost the whole of the building! So glad I went inside the organ to look at the keyframe. So glad it has a cymbal now too as I believe originally it never had a cymbal!
It's a very imposing instrument - both physically and musically! I think it originally had a cymbal, very few large organs came without them. If I remember it was George Flynn who rebuilt the instrument who decided that he didn't like the sound of it!
It may sound grand in the building but its real sound is outside where it was designed to be,I do like the cymbal though, really works well with the organ.
It's sounds fantastic, the problem is that the automatic recording level can't quite cope with the organ & the acoustics of the building but it's still very listenable.
It's good to see it has a cymbal now.
"Pique Dame" must be a new book as i have not heard it on this organ before.
Correct, I think it was recently added to the organ's repertoire.

@@MechanicalMusicTravels I like the fact that the top facade makes the organ much bigger than it actually is.
Thank you very much for these musical finds.
None of these organs sound nearly so good on video as they do in real life. They are brilliant to listen to.
Indeed, especially with larger organs like this one.
👏👏👏👏👏
Hey! It has a cymbal finally!
Yes, indeed - and what a difference it makes!
@@kimmajkosaveukraineroadto1127 ??? It was only added a year or so ago.

Would be nice to see it out and about one day, sadly neither the Gavi nor the Ruth have really been out since Richard Preston passed away.

Thanks Rob, indeed - sadly my camera didn't like the organ too much but it didn't turn out too badly I suppose.
Its sounds louder then it should
Great video, last time I saw it was at the 2009 GDSF and I can remember Richard Preston saying hello to me.
I Hope the operator had ear defenders on
Nope - no ear defenders! It's not as loud as you'd think it is round the back, believe it or not.
Live and direct to the naked ear is best every time 😉😅👍
Indeed - it can't be beat!
