I'm so glad UA-cam's algorithm brought me here. You have a nice voice, a chill presence, and a very informative and experienced-based educational style. Subscribed after only this video.
Hey, I just want to say that I've been trying to learn or get into Ableton for the longest time and you're the only person on UA-cam who made it easy and got to the point with things. I feel like I'm watching an episode of Sesame Street. LOL. Thank you :)
You are an immensely gifted teacher and your level of erudition is through the roof. I love the relaxed way that you give very clear instructions. Keep it up!
There's something about the calm quality of your voice that makes me feel like I can DO this!! LOL Thank you so much for these tutorials. I watched the performance alone and ended it thinking, "how did he do this???"
Taetro, I feel so encouraged to deeply explore the potential of this machine. So far I've worked exclusively with software instruments, but now that I also have an MPK Mini, I hope it will help achieve more breakthroughs. (I've been a guitarist since the world was flat, so it was epochal for me to jump over to digital composition.) Anyway, I love your approach and look forward to many discoveries with this remarkable instrument.
Really great stuff man, been playing guitar and singing for 20 years, and now looking to loop and get more Into production… your vids have been my main resource and extremely helpful. Thank you
Upvoting the calls for a tutorial on Master Beat Repeat rack. I'm guessing you have the macro mapped to the Repeat button of each instance, but would love to see how you do it.
I use to have a Roland sampler but never really grasped how to use it to its full potential. We are talking late 90’s with no UA-cam tutorials. So thing is long gone but this tutorial may just push me to get back into dabbling with music! Very informative! Thanks!
Hey man, thanks for this video! I've used it today to learn how to set up my MPK mini mkII to do a bit of live looping. Given you credit in my video description! Didn't get the auto-arm to work properly, but used the pads to arm different tracks. Easy enough workaround.
It was truly helpfull and cleaned some blocks in my mind about doing this myself, though I will have to figure out how I'll get the some outcome in Bitwig. Thanks and God bless ☺️🙏🏼❤️
Nice way to arm the track and start the loop, for sure the pedal makes ur hands to stay near the keys and it's easier! I used to map the arm button to some of my keyboard letters or numbers and i used it as a midi controller. Thx for the video man and that beat is ultra dope
Super informative and easy to follow, you've convinced me! I'm only used to recording metal guitar on ableton but I look forward to the challenge of this.
Love the tutorial man, always get so much from your stuff ! Would love to see a tutorial on how you create some off your effects racks i.e. Master beat repeat. Also how do you record multiple clips on the same track whilst live looping without duplicating via the keypad?
how to make a stutter beat repeat rack by TAETRO ua-cam.com/video/88VBURCxnXM/v-deo.html putting this for ppl still looking in 2022 and after like me!!!
Thank you, this was very informative. I love the vibes and that you are showing us everything. Easy sub! I would love to see more vids on how to create more interesting looping performances!
Thanks very much for this vid and the track vid that led me here! "It's important to NOTE!" (lol) Very helpful in a time of need of this exact presentation - well executed information. And, you make cool tunes!
Hello I really liked the tutorial, in the part of pausing the battery maybe you can use the "CC" button and select some pad as "Stop Clip Button". If you use just for this function I think it's worth one to Play another for Stop maybe. Arm to Select's tip changed my life. Brazil Here!!!
Great informations, it now auto-arms! You have to read both the articles. When saving the Options.txt instruction on a mac you have to hold command/shift/Period ( . ) to show the hidden library folder. If there is an easier way to save it in there I missed it. Love all your videos dude. Thanks for the beats :)
Wow!!! Damn I’m blown away with all the info you provided for us all and you broke it all down as well! Just subscribed and about to peep the rest of your vids! TY🤝
I can't play any instruments at all and my music choices are somewhat questionable, but this video made me order an Akai MPK Mini to have some fun. Thanks!
If you don't like the fact that you have to keep the pedal depressed while you're looping, you can use a guitar amp on-off channel footswitch instead of a sustain pedal. That type of pedal only sends a signal when pressed but not when released, so it works even better for looping.
Taetro, you are my no.1 youtuber and electronic music mentor! having learned so much from you, thank you! I also want to ask that it's seems that you prefer Novation launchkey mini more over Akai MPK mini mk3 with Ableton, then why you choose using MPK mini mk3? thank you.
19:30 you could probably map this knob to either switch off/on the drum rack device or enable the mute on a Utility device thus completely muting the drums...while still having a portion of the knob throw to just mute the kick. just an idea! great video btw.
The mapping has limited function though. It will auto-overdub if there is already a playing clip on the selected track. It just won't replicage pressing "enter" on a new empty clip. I had to make a custom MIDI remote script to catch the pedal event and actually change the "set_fire_button_state" of the highlighted_clip_slot variable. So overdub if you are on a playing clip, record if it's an empty one. Finally working as intended in my opinion. My script is for the mpk261 but it'd be pretty simple to implement on the mpk25 if anybody is interested.
Hello, I am so glad you made this comment as I am having the same issue! I would like the option to either overdub or create a new cell recording but I don't know how to set that up with the pedal. Might you be able to help me? I have an AKAI MPK mini mkii. Thanks!
Ran into the same issue. This might be another way to solve it: * map your MIDI to the enter key * I used a free program called midiStroke to do this on Mac.
Hi! this tutorial is gold and you’re a born teacher frfr. I have a question for you !! When I’m done mapping the sustain pedal (different model, the black plastic one from yamaha digital piano…), as I press it to record, and then press it again, the loop starts but the recording weirdly keep going. Is it a problem related to the pedal itself or it has anything to do with the Launching settings?? How do I fix that? that would be a life-saver for me. thank You very much
Dude, your videos are always fantastic. thanks a lot! How can I pair the Mpk mini with another controller using Ableton?? Is it possible to use the MPK to record Midi tracks AND an audio interface to record Audio tracks with guitars or bass guitars? Cheers man!
Great video! I'm completely new to music production and just got my hands on an Akai mpk mini for fun. Can someone please tell me if everything in this video is possible with the 'Intro' version of Ableton Live? Thanks

You don't need to keep the pedal depressed while you're looping, thankfully. Ableton starts and stops recording via the same MIDI note.
great videos, have been saving lots! just ordered mine, the same as yours with black keys ;) coincidentally however!! yaaassssss
This was super helpful thank you so much!!
Wow just thank you man 😳🙏
