@@scudb5509 sorry dude, but i'm sure it happens after, in the game you can find "the war rig" (the truck that max uses in fury on the road) but in the game is destroyed. Proving that the events in the game happens after the movie
Tbh, I started this game with low expectations. It would be fair to say that I was completely blown away. Sunk upwards of a hundred hours into this game.
I like how it shows that max is in a never ending cycle of pain and that's why he always is the guy to not really help and go right to the point, so he doesn't get attached to them and not feel pain
so basically Max has some trust issues, understandable if you've seen the original movies, and the Interceptor was all he ever trusted. So when he found it was still up and running, he ditched everything else, Hope, Glory, Chumbucket and the Magnum Opus. He is also suffering from some hardcore insanity, so it's not totally a selfish move for Max to make. The return of the Interceptor meant the return of his family, too. I've rambled on too much but I liked the ending and I still play it after I finished the story, which I don't do a lot in games.
This ending is so brutal and mean... but it’s perfect. It’s heart-wrenching and emotionally devastating and confusing. It makes you feel what Max has felt throughout pretty much all of the movies. Which is bittersweet but made for an awesome game!
Except Fury Road had a happy ending, not for Max specifically, but he was part of it. This argument that all the movies end on the same dark note as the game is bullshit.
@@dangamer8884 It's not really an argument I was making so much as an observation that Max goes through some heavy shit in pretty much all the movies. Fury Road is... partly the exception, yeah certainly the ending is.
Just finished the game, never seen the movies. Holy shit that one scene at the end with hope and glory. Never has there been a game that made my blood boil and resonate with the character like when he revved that engine afterwards.
As soon as that interceptor was back in his hands, he just stopped all thoughts about the events that transpired. He even forgot Glory’s gift. A mad man made even madder
Glory’s snowglobe is most likely meant to be of Sydney, this is really meta because Max helped the tribals get to “Tomorrowmorrow Land” which was a vitrified Sydney in Thunderdome. Which happened a few years prior to these events. Thematically, his discarding of the globe even further signifies Max’s downward spiral that we see the aftermath of in Fury Road.
God, I love the idea of this game being a prequel to Fury Road. It sets up not only Max's connection to Immortan by killing one of his sons (Scrotus), but it also makes the whole point of Max finding "redemption" in the film even MORE impactful with this game as context. It's not perfect as a prequel, but damn is it pretty good. Plus, when has Mad Max continuity ever made sense anyway?
eh i would disagree. He basically all but told chumbucket earlier in the game, he planned on fitting the Magnum with storage tanks, leaving no place for him when he planned to leave for the plains of silence. It's clear max only told him to get off as almost a courtesy. Kind of makes Max look like a dick by the end of this story but i do think that was the point........a darker chapter in max's story as most of the movies (save the first) end on a much more lighter and heroic note.
@@itsdantaylor You could argue that Chum was evil. When Max goes to the airport to find Glory, he then asks Max multiple times "why we have to find the child?". He would've rather left Glory to die, because he figured it out on his own that Hope and Glory were potential family for Max, and that Max would probably leave with them once they find Glory.
@@DesertStateInEU Chum is attached to the magnum opus. You know how he talks about it. Can't blame him. Chum left with the car after max told him, he is leaving without chum.and he probably didnt trust max after what others done to him.
The first time seeing the Magnum opus, my creation, falling to the side of the earth mover, as if it were just a prop, gave such an awe inspiring feeling
I had a bug in my playthrough that i was 100% sure it was a genius call from the devs. Turns out when i finished the game and i hopped back into the Magnus i couldnt hear the engine roaring anymore, it was just the silence of the desert no matter how furiously i stepped my foot on the gas. As if Max had finally reached inner peace, ease, revenge. But no, now i see i just had a good bug.
That shot of him just gunning it thru the open road & then you see the title Mad Max.... Nice. They really nailed the feeling of the movies. A man with nothing more to lose; wandering the wasteland.
6:22 When the Interceptor comes charging out of the back of the Land Mover in slow motion. Goddamn, that's my favourite moment in the whole game. So badass.
Somehow I can imagine Max spraying himself with chrome in a fit of rage and screaming "WITNESS ME!!" right before he yanks the blade from Scrotus' head😂😂👌
One of the sadest game endings i know.. he could have had a family as hope told him. Now he has nothing except his car and memories, i couldnt live like that:/
It's so wild that the ending has you burn everything to the ground and kill your friends for vengeance and destroy everything and everything you worked for, in the name of vengeance, and you're left alone... And then "Hey buddy I got the car fixed! Let's go have fun adventures!" 8D
Mark He acts horribly to Chum from the moment he meets him. He never one time shows graditude to Chum, and only speaks to him in concerns to a mission or upgrades on the vehicle. The moment Glory and Hope died, any chance of him caring for his bond with Chum was gone. I think it also says a lot about Chum that he would rather die with the Magnum Opus, than start over again with Max. He could have got off the hood of that car, Max gave him the opporutunity. At that point, the only way to get revenge is by sacrificing Chum.

Loved everything about this game except for this final mission. After the fight with scrotus in Gastown I was expecting a big final showdown to finish it off but sadly all we got was a mission where you have to roll out the way and throw something 3 times and your done. Apart from that this was great to play.
d hell with chumbucket, he calls max saint all throughout the game just so Max could help him complete his prized car and earn his trust, then after its complete the hunchback runs off with the car just because max plans to add some tanks on the back, then his last moment hunchback stands in Max's vengeance only to be killed, then chumbucket realized too late that he doesn't know Max too well.
Donnie Sy That’s not why He ran. He ran because he felt like max was gonna abandon him and go be with Hope and Glory. Stank gum literally said that Chumbucket was talking about how Max, Hope, and glory were gonna be a family.
Chumbucket trusted Max just as much as he trusted the Magnum Opus. Chumbucket only abandoned Max because he felt Max was going to betray him by putting the large fuel tanks in Chumbuckets place, along with him being ambushed by Buzzards
“In the roar of an engine he lost everything, and became a shell of a man, a burnt out desolate man, a man who road out into the wasteland, and it was in this blighted place, that he would learn to live again.”
its pretty rough being Max. once he had it all, a wife, a daughter, friends, but then he lost it all. and then came Hope and Glory, he could have started over, lived as the husband of Hope and father of Glory, but he either wasnt ready to make such a choice, thought it too good to be true, or tried to protect Hope and Glory from his own lifestyle. but in the end, that choice cost them both their lives. and then, fueled by the only thing he had left, rage, he murdered the only person who had helped him. i honestly hoped that Max would make it in time and save Hope and Glory from Scrotus and his pp horn, but i honestly think this ending was so much more fitting than anything else. the voices you hear as Max if you decide to keep playing after finishing the game give me the creeps, especially the "Why didnt you listen? Why?"
6:50 I love the little detail that mere moments after Chumbucket's death, his voice joined the insane voices inside Max's head. All of his friends and close ones, all he ever loved, all he ever lost - all end up as voices.

@@DesertStateInEU I think it works, but it’s definitely not all canon, the broad spectrum of things are, it’s in a limbo between canon and not, because it was based off of concept art and more importantly ideas from Furiosa, the Wasteland (which is where most of the story is from) and ofc Fury Road. The comic is more canonical, but it’s also very rushed and doesn’t give a suitable explanation to the state of Max’s mental state in FR because he only knew Hope & Glory for like 5 mins. The other stories are amazing tho, especially Furiosa’s.

Aki Kimura Yes nontheless the V8 is very unrealistic in this scenario because cars dont only need gasoline they also need motoroil and cooling water. so or so, Mad Max is Fucked

1:36 this line of dialogue only gave me more motivation for revenge. the games story basically cheats you out of Max’s only chance at an actual happy ending, it makes sense and is fitting of course but it no less angers me when it happens. so hearing Hope and Glory push me on to chase Scrotus down and finish it all was all the motivation I needed.
Hope and Glory or whatever kinda bothered me. "We were meant to be together" TF are you talking about, we barely know each other! We're aquatints at best. "You can be father" Did your mother put you up to this somehow, and what kid talks like that?
Sad, but this is exactly how things go in the world of Survival! Love, Friendship, Trust, Sanity won't survive the hard days. All what remains are the needs, and the fight from day to day!
This game is stunning in the way that it follows the whole timeline since MAD MAX came out as movies in the 80s the biker warlord hope tells him about seems to be from the same gang that Max wiped out in the first movie. The interceptor is the same and following the most recent movie fury road immortan joe was Max's nemesis and Scrotus claims him as his father. Mad Max is a story a legacy a legend that's been told and retold for over 40 years now.
And nothing changed at all. Still in his interceptor, still alone, still going to the plains of silence, and still can't escape from his past. Honestly so smart for a hardened survivor to not change at all for once.
SPOILER ALERT. I enjoyed the game very much but it had some setbacks in my opinion.first ,the big chief mission where you get the v8 is just a couple missions before finishing the game, which in my opinion the game does not let you enjoy the upgrades of the car through the story line.second, i wish there was more missions and story about hope and max so they could come together more naturally ,max met hope for like couple missions before she died and they became close r than family??? that does not add up,and thirdly i would like more meaningfull side missions, the side missions in this game is just favors for some exchange that has pretty much nothing to do with the core of the story, and lastly the final mission with scrotus, that the only disapointment i have of this game,it was like fighting a minion,i killed him in 30 seconds.Thats it from me!! definately should play this game it is awsome but thats the few setbacks i did not enjoy. oohh and definately should someone make a second game like that ,more open world and much more comlicated and survival. Great game though!!
if you guys think this is hard because it slowed time you must suck just as hard then :P Slowing the time gives you more reaction / time to aim , in other words it makes it easier .
Returned to this game recently, since I didn't finish the game when I first got it. I wish wouldn't have done that. Because then i'd still think chum was alive 😢
That's the BEST ending but that's not how a mad max story would end........the 'best' mad max story would be max saves hope and glory, but sends them off in the magnum with Chum while he holds off scrotus. They get away and max is left all alone...........and then he stumbles on the Interceptor, contemplates going after them, and then drives off in the opposite direction like the loner he is.

The game lives up to the apocalyptic world and the characters really well. Max Rockantansky has to be one of the best fictional characters ever created. This game gives us the best vehicular combat ever seen in gaming world. The mechanics, the graphics, the controls, the AI, everything is top-notch. But most importantly, the plot is seamlessly perfect. The arc of Max from start to finish, the unresolved yet resolved threads of the storyline and particularly in this final mission the way he leans back his head on starting his Black Pursuit Special in satisfaction is brutally satisfying.
i turned my max into a lunatic, long hair and beard with glasses and armored to the teeth, my magnum opus was completely juiced up,i fucking loved this game and i wish it had a new game +
I completed the story mode but I can't be bothered to do the side missions because it doesn't feel right knowing that the charters are dead. Could have done with a happy ending where Max and Hope get married and move with Chumbucket (Glory + Dog 2) back to Chumbuckets original house .
Waleed Ahmed No my friend. Mad max is not about that. In all 4 movies max tries not to attach to anyone because he is afraid of losing them. Max is a loner and nothing on Max's world is perfect. This ending fits mad max series perfectly. Even if the caracters were alive he wouldnt have the family.

He’s a coward who deserved worse
No wonder why max felt so guilty in fury road, vengeance gave him nothing in the end.
You do realize this game is non-canon, right?
Etheredge Rollins the game is cannon
But the events in the game happens after fury on the road, inmortal joe is dead by the time that the game starts
felipe ignacio vergara flores Scrotus is the son of Immortan Joe. And I think it’s before the movie.
@@scudb5509 sorry dude, but i'm sure it happens after, in the game you can find "the war rig" (the truck that max uses in fury on the road) but in the game is destroyed. Proving that the events in the game happens after the movie
I wish u could use the spike from scrotus s head as a hood ordament to impove overall stats for the car
Or maybe use his chainsaw as an invincible melee weapon
that would be metal as fuck. now i’m disappointed i can’t do that😂
Nah his head to do more damage
We should have Stank Gum’s and Scrotus’ heads as hood ornaments. Something to even make the Buzzards afraid of me.
Tbh, I started this game with low expectations. It would be fair to say that I was completely blown away. Sunk upwards of a hundred hours into this game.
ua-cam.com/video/t2rQ89_s7H4/v-deo.html
He never ditched hope and glory, they were taken from him.
Beano Austins At least now he's at peace... Forever living in the plains of silence.
He didnt know the inceptor was still working until after he killed chumbucket
Beano Austins he thought the interceptor was taken apart bc u see it happen in one of the first missions
He ditched Hope and Glory and then they were killed.
Fury Road is... partly the exception, yeah certainly the ending is.
it's kinda interesting that max ended exactly the same way he started it all
As a cherry on top, the achievement you get for finishing the game is called "Reawakening of the Downward Spyral". Brutal.
The fact that Chum returned after the ending makes me feel like that he was never meant to die
I just forced myself to believe that max somehow found chum, picked him up and patched him up and he’s as good as new
This game is so underrated. It's so perfect.

Just finished the game, never seen the movies. Holy shit that one scene at the end with hope and glory. Never has there been a game that made my blood boil and resonate with the character like when he revved that engine afterwards.
👍
As soon as that interceptor was back in his hands, he just stopped all thoughts about the events that transpired. He even forgot Glory’s gift. A mad man made even madder
Max has been stepping on his rake, and he is stepping on his rake.
Max actually cared about chum bucket cause he said get off like he didn't want to kill him he had no choice
eh i would disagree.

I see a lot of people really missing the point of this ending.
Same, they should re-read the title of the game. Making emphasis on MAD max

I was expecting another fist fight after knocking him off the Black on Black
d hell with chumbucket, he calls max saint all throughout the game just so Max could help him complete his prized car and earn his trust, then after its complete the hunchback runs off with the car just because max plans to add some tanks on the back, then his last moment hunchback stands in Max's vengeance only to be killed, then chumbucket realized too late that he doesn't know Max too well.
Donnie Sy he lost it in anger 😕
Donnie Sy That’s not why He ran. He ran because he felt like max was gonna abandon him and go be with Hope and Glory. Stank gum literally said that Chumbucket was talking about how Max, Hope, and glory were gonna be a family.
Chumbucket trusted Max just as much as he trusted the Magnum Opus. Chumbucket only abandoned Max because he felt Max was going to betray him by putting the large fuel tanks in Chumbuckets place, along with him being ambushed by Buzzards
i never understood chumbucket i mean, Passenger seats exist in the mad-max universe... right?
Actually, a 2nd space for gas gallons. And there would still be some good space for Chum to stay in the back.

I dare to say that the game is better than any Mad Max movie. This ending leaves me thinking about the whole story by days now. So deep,so cruel...
its pretty rough being Max. once he had it all, a wife, a daughter, friends, but then he lost it all. and then came Hope and Glory, he could have started over, lived as the husband of Hope and father of Glory, but he either wasnt ready to make such a choice, thought it too good to be true, or tried to protect Hope and Glory from his own lifestyle. but in the end, that choice cost them both their lives. and then, fueled by the only thing he had left, rage, he murdered the only person who had helped him.
i honestly hoped that Max would make it in time and save Hope and Glory from Scrotus and his pp horn, but i honestly think this ending was so much more fitting than anything else. the voices you hear as Max if you decide to keep playing after finishing the game give me the creeps, especially the "Why didnt you listen? Why?"

@@DesertStateInEUespecially since George miller wasn’t involved
@@DesertStateInEU I think it works, but it’s definitely not all canon, the broad spectrum of things are, it’s in a limbo between canon and not, because it was based off of concept art and more importantly ideas from Furiosa, the Wasteland (which is where most of the story is from) and ofc Fury Road.
The comic is more canonical, but it’s also very rushed and doesn’t give a suitable explanation to the state of Max’s mental state in FR because he only knew Hope & Glory for like 5 mins.

Amazing way to end a game I just wish we could’ve actually fought scrotus one on one a final time
admit it, you miss your Magnum Opus!

Chumbucket is a angel
Scrotus and Max is the most brutal
I can picture the best ending: Max married Hope and adopts Glory. The three drive away in the Magnum Opus accompanied by Chumbucket.
