This is just an outstanding video. The whole mad max franchise is one of my absolute favorites. Lots of interesting tidbits in this video. I always considered myself mostly fearless but I’m not sure I would climb in to any of those vehicles.
I loved the 4 movies, and this video. The maker did a very thorough research on the vehicles. He gives real credit for the cars to the builders and mechanics. They are the geniuses who made them work. And half the movie was the cars. I was lucky to see it in 3-D.
A lot of us Aussies were not impressed with this movie. But your video gives an insight into the true nature of what it would be like driving a vehicle like those which appear in the movie. In a real post apocalypse world.
Cranky Frank's limited visibility can be remedied with an angled mirror on each corner of the front window, & a mirror in the center in front of the driver to create a periscope effect.
Nice idea in theory, but driving that thing in the desert over bumpy roads and with limited visibility at times, wouldn't be possible. (I could hardly see hands on the steering wheel during the claw car scenes. And I was driving a different/better car in that scene)

in reality to do something like these cars in a post apoc setting the spare parts would be chopped up and built up. so in reality they would be custom cars.
Ross Brumby Well a good movie doesn’t needs to be perfectly realistic and even if they aren’t really realists the car in fury road were from me one of the best parts of the movie, because they really caught the feeling of madness and over exposition of their drivers (sorry for bad English and poor arguments, i’m just a French teenager 😅)
Whats really, really retarded about Fury Road , after an economic collapse and a nuclear war, they are not going to have more resources to build more amazing cars.
I think that's part of the point. The cars are tremendously wasteful, which makes them a status symbol - that's why all the powerful faction leaders have their own custom vehicle. It's a way to drive around the battlefield in a chariot that declares "I CAN AFFORD THIS."
@@vylbird8014 hit the nail on the head. Same reason ancient Egyptians had professional chariots instead of focusing on foot soldiers. Chariots take years to master and are great status symbols, but are thwarted quite easily in combat with the right tools or tactics.

Just a heads up. The Giggle Horse/Lysdexia buggy body is a fibreglass '32 Ford 5 window coupe replica, not a '34 Chevy as used for Nux's car.
No, Gigahorse is two '59 Cadillac bodies
@@rockettcustoms6266 Yeah and he said nothing about the Gigahorse. Read it again, it says "Giggle Horse/Lysdexua buggy body"
You stupid
@@rockettcustoms6266 You've made this comment twice now. I know it's a year later but damn. Try watching the video, we're talking about a different car.
please do more of these videos! It inspires the builder inside of me to come up with some kind of insane speed machine that barely functions for the hell of it. Anyways thanks for the great watch, hope to see what else you come out with :D
I was just a child when I first saw mad max 2, I could not believe the action scenes and the cars were incredible my parents did not let me see it because they considered it very violent but when I learned to use the vhs you can record it on TV and see it Thousands of times, it always caught my attention that cars were driven on the right side, I thought it was something from the movie or the future ... then I grew up and understood that it was another way of driving in other countries. That is why I have tried to get a car with a right-hand drive since then but in Argentina it is almost impossible I have even tried to adapt my datsun bluebird 910sss but I can't get the Australian parts. But well I did not know that there were mad max fans like me, in my country the movie was not successful but it was a childhood. Thanks for sharing
I never have seen fury road but I WANT A PART 2!! This was so interesting!
You dont watch Fury Road...you witness it!
It's a horrible disappointment.
You could fly a small airplane through the holes in the storyline.
Worse than the Fast and Furious crap.
Nothing is worse than the Fast and Furious crap
Frank Taylor well you dont Watch F&F movies for the plot, it’s watched for the action
Love these vids, especially learning about the rigs since I'm a shade tree mechanic. Oh btw you said 205 engines instead of 502 at 1:40
I did, my brain reversed the numbers, thanks for the correction! :)
@@MadMaxBible You're welcome. Shit happens sometimes haha. Looking forward to more content from ya.

The stunt drivers were confident enough to drive a car that's almost impossible to see out of. Imagine how unstable those other ones had to be for them to refuse to drive em
Mechanics: So do you want this stuff to look cool for the camera or do you want it to actually run?
George Miller: YES
A lot of us Aussies were not impressed with this movie. But your video gives an insight into the true nature of what it would be like driving a vehicle like those which appear in the movie. In a real post apocalypse world.
Mad Max movie always made Austraia seem soft. I wish they would make a realistic movie about Australians.
This was not what I was expecting from the vid title. Thanks for posting this. Great vid!
My sweet Angel Combustion, praise the holy engines!
Mind blowing to know just how real these cars were! Thank you so much for this video!
Cranky Frank's limited visibility can be remedied with an angled mirror on each corner of the front window, & a mirror in the center in front of the driver to create a periscope effect.
The only issue being it could actually blind the driver if the car goes against the sun.
Nice idea in theory, but driving that thing in the desert over bumpy roads and with limited visibility at times, wouldn't be possible. (I could hardly see hands on the steering wheel during the claw car scenes. And I was driving a different/better car in that scene)
@@DCteamtraceur You drove one of these monsters ? You have all my respect.
that's not good either since they're in the desert, exposed by hot and bright sunlight...the driver will burn his eyes off

Good to hear you actually said 3:59 "A bonnet " being an Australian beast :)
That was a fun watch, gave me some nice ideas for a Crossout build.
If I go down to any of my local new car/bike or truck dealers and look over the vehicles on offer, they all always take my breath away. Shiny, clean and all are dent free.
Now look at the vehicles in this video, as an example the FX utility, Cranky Frank. To think one day that car was on display in a show room until sold to its first owner who drove it how so very proud.
I wonder what that first owner would say if we could shown him where his new car will one day end up?
I love how Cranky Frank's creator looks just like Big Lez.
😂 whadyatalkinabeet..
Awesome video! Claw truck, spikeys, war rig, motorcycles... Music flamer... Keep em coming!
Few people realize there's an R32 Skyline in among that bunch. Gives it even more Aussie authenticity.
Japanese authenticity.
Can you tell me where or whats it called?
Nvm, for people who wanna see how it looks, its called Caltrop#2 and is used as a filler vehicle basically
not what I was expecting to pop on my notifications, but exactly what I didnt knew I wanted.
Man, everything is so fascinanting about this, that they actually built the cars?? dude
"V16" uh no, a V16 would be if they were mounted nutts to butts, not side by side. That is either a twin-V8 or W-16. Take your pick. But not a V16. That's not how it works.
thank you
What doesn't make sense is they did two 502 engines with 502hp each so 1004hp plus two 8/71 blowers that only added 200hp I'm scratching my head on that one.
@@repnatl blowers are just for looks
Its was to V-8's I think. If you watch Fury Roads behind the Cars it was supposed to represent that In a world where supplies barely exist, having 2 of everything is "god" like
@@repnatl I would imagine those blowers are putting out very minimal boost they don't really need it to make massive power they just need it to look cool lol
Keep these deeper look videos coming. These vehicles were EASILY the best part of the movie! Much appreciated!
No surprise about the Howe & Howe car having trouble. Just look at the way that thing is built, all miters no bends. Terrible way to build a chassis. Oh Yeah for all the dislikers out there I'm a engineer that designs race chassis.
To be realistic. If you don't want to pay the full price. Don't be surprised if you get crap.
Thank you so much for this one! Really well done!
It's insane to me that the vehicles aren't CG, that's some top tier dedication
It’s an Aussie thing man!
Absolutely fantastic video. Well done mate.
Gigahorse: why do we need this car?
Don't ask
Because its awesome. Its my favorit from whole movie
@c0ya1 am i only one who wants to die young and pretty and behind steering wheel ?

Unfortunately I found your Channel way too late. I love the Mad Max Cars Videos. I hope there are more to come. Also about Cars behind the scenes. For example, "Buzzard" cars. Keep up the good work. Many greetings from Germany
I liked and Subbed. I'm a huge Original Mad Max fan. My question is, How far could they drive supped up cars at full speed? They gotta run out of Gas and take tire damage. Nobody ever talks about Oil and vehicles overheating.
It's why max's tires and a lot of the tires are filled with cloth rags. As for oil, places like Gastown.
I remember as a kid I'd often browse the edge products page Longing for a Piranha or Mini Monster truck. The erratic suspension behaviour probably explains why they never sold the plans for, or made a second Ballistic.
Let’s be honest the only cars running after the apocalypse would be 80’s toyotas
And old Lada sedans.
Counterpoint: 90s Toyotas
Funny. Haven’t seen an 80s Toyota in many years. They may have been tough but they stood no chance against rust.
The point of having cars in the movies isn't really to travel, it's to have enough speed to take shit from slower people when they appear. Everyone driving an 80s Toyota right after the apocalypse would be fucked cause they ain't going no where fast

can’t wait for the future videos! the cars are soo cool i saw a few of them at a car show in chicago and it was pretty insane! i love that you cover the cars that were also in he background and not just the Hero cars!
Absolutely one of the most perfect films of all time. Easily a masterpiece with the best cars of all time.
Hoping for a sequel to this with more interesting facts on other cars!
Yet Mad Max 2's achieved the same shock and awe using only salvaged scrapyard vehicles. Another example of how the classic did so much more with less than Fury Road.
These cars have awhole different flavor than Road Warrior did.
Remember, going through mad max movie, we see the villain factions from gang, to nomad tribe, to state city to kingdom. On kingdom tier your nomad tribe vehicles are now obsolete
Its so cool that they really made so many crazy vehicles, instead of slamming in cgi everywhere.
Seems weird that there'd be an issue with the Gigahorse's multi-engine setup since people have been bolting up such things for Tractor Pull racing for decades.
I'd imagine a tractor engine probably wasn't built out of 2 engines mixed into 1.
Epic Video! I can wait to see some more of these cars in the part 2 of this series! Thanks for the hard work build this video!
I like how ever mything is almost real
With the new slap-chop. One slap two slap, salad. That advert was actually pretty funny to watch 😂
"Difficult to work with" "dangerous to drive" ah yes... daily driver to me
I love videos like these!! Awesome research work! Thank you very much!!
It hurts to see how many impractical beautiful beasts were destroyed in fury road
Great video, love the back story to these vehicles. Tx for researching and putting this out.
My question is how do they get such nice tires for their cars and trucks in the post-apocalyptic future.
Thank you for an AMAZING video!!!!
1:17 and and I'm already upset. Two V8's side by side is not a V16. Its two V8's. You could argue its a rudimentary W16, but that would be a hard sell.
You should definitely do another video about the other cars. I'm sure many others would love to see it. Thank you for such a great informative video on the cars of fury road. Just became a new subscriber to your channel.
EVERYONE OF THOSE WAR CHARIOTS ARE REAL AND PERFORM FOR REAL!!!
now how well they actually work is another story hahahaha!!
Great video man,.
Can you make a part 2 about some of the other cars?.
The one with all the metal spikes always makes uneasy 😅
Good for video game development... ( from design's perspective... )
That was so cool! Hope to see the rest of them done this way. Great work man.
Doesn't having to build a whole custom transmission and motor defeat the purpose? These are supposed to be cars built from spare parts.
in reality to do something like these cars in a post apoc setting the spare parts would be chopped up and built up. so in reality they would be custom cars.
That's why mad max 2 was great and furby road was lame.
No buddy you're completely wrong. The V8 is their god, they know her well. All types of mechanics work in the wasteland
@@rossbrumby1957 millions of people and 7 oscars disagree with you
This is incredible the lengths they went to to maker this movie blows my mind, keep up the great content

This my friends is pure gold. Best youtube vid I've seen in awhile
Heya GREAT video and my first time watching your channel. I also noticed your attention to detail so I thought I'd drop a couple things and this is meant as a friendly viewer (some people take everything as an attack).
@6:10 you say military decorations but those are just strung together bandoliers in rows but I get it as it's a tracked vehicle and looks, tankish. Also it's shotgun shells or spent cartridges if they've been fired not bullet casings. No worries and again great video..
For the gigglehorse car , it wasnt a spare nux car body. It was actually a 1932 ford 5 window coupe body , not a 34 chevy 5 window.
nice vid man
LOL! I friggin love the intro there bud! was this an outtake/blooper from fury road XD?
