Some settings for the 891 so the audio out is better.. .IF shift to -140. Width to 2700. Turn on contour and dial down to 150. You can change to contour width and level in the menus. Makes to signal pop out real nice
Just found your videos,and I’ve just bought a FT891 for a do it all radio,have a subscribe 😊
Danke für das tolle Videu.Yaesu FT 891 ist gut.73,von Wien.Österreich.😊😊😊
thanks, fito fantastic job 73 from kb2uew
Nice setup but I think that bag maybe compromising cooling
I identified this in my prior video still working on solutions to this. Either upgrading fans and turning them to a pull configuration pulling air up and out of the case past the head or adding a supplementary blower fan to blow air from the back ducted up and out.
@@FITFO Just take it out of the bag when you operate, you will kill that radio, upgraded fans or not.....
@@RudixSA check out my more updated video on this setup I solved that problem. Pouch its in has a flap that opens to vent
@@FITFO Yes, I saw that video but I would still worry about heat, even with decent ventilation these compact radios running high power get hot. A lifetime in electronics had taught me that heat is the main killer, if not immediately components degrading and even changing value will cause damage medium to long term. I often operate in an high heat environment, during my last outing I saw 47C.
Please repeat what that app is that you showed on your phone. Thx,
73
Great video, I would also like to know what app he is using.
Central Tejas is a beautiful and shitty place.. lol. The heat isn't an f'n joke. I'll take a few feet of snow.
My wife and I tried to stay after we ETS'd but headed back north PDQ.
Saw a comment about the bag and heat with the 891. I guess, maybe... seems to be concern looking for an actual problem. Aside from being on the face of the sun down there, I don't think it will ever matter. How long are you transmitting?
Anyway, stay safe soldier... and get that upgrade already. No excuses.
Hope to catch you on the air.
73 and God bless
nice video YB7SQX from central kalimantan indonesia 73
what app are you using
It’s just a website, Dxheat.com
Great setup. What is the model of you backpack ? Do you know the capacity ? Thanks
This was just a condor assault pack, I had since transitioned to a high ground gear prc-117g pouch and it’s phenomenal, solved a lot of problems I had with this pack
What are the boots you are using? Seam.well used . I noticed you used tennis shoes on your previous outing. What was the difference in comfort? I appreciate your video but in the Texas heat and humidity, if my feet don’t do well and the shoes don’t survive then the rest of the experience is not enjoyable. Thank you for sharing
So I’m active duty Army I have a about 6-7 pairs of boots I’ve worn through enough to be “unserviceable” over the years. I tend to keep my old pairs that still have some life in them for hiking and other things. I personally favor the garmont t6 NFS as they are relatively agile while still offering decent sole thickness for rucking. Breaking in the boots are pretty important especially in the heat where the sweat makes hot spots for rubbing. I personally choose boots for this trip because it was a little more deliberate than the last trip with shoes, last thing I want is to roll my ankle on the relatively steep terrain. I’m used to wearing boots in the heat though and a lot of that is just acclimatization
Thank you for sharing. I know that no shoe works for everyone but value the voice of experience rather than speculation. Will give those boots a try.
How much power are you running portable? Thanks for the video
75-100w
I have that same bag and radio. Mine is in a tactical carrier. What kind of battery ( Ah ) bioenno are U using.
12 AH
Would you provide a link to the bag, or at least its name? Thanks. K5AKG
I beleive condor makes them they are made by a couple different companies in the same design just under the name of tactical assault pack.
I’m turn between this radio and ICOM ic705 . I know ICOM is a lot more and a lot less powerful but it seems to be able to a lot neat things
Tbh while I thought the same thing. As a visual learner the 705 may be better but from a actual use perspective I would go with the robust 891 and maybe later get a 7300 to play around but that’s just my philosophy of use on portable radio
@@FITFO I got 891 about two weeks ago . I have yet to use it because I have no clue how power and what antenna . But I’m learning . Thanks for your reply
What is model of antenna that you are using? Thank you!
Cahrtenna Artemis
@@FITFO Thanks!
