    Thanks for the vid mate. Just installed some JKS quick disconnects on my TJ using this video. Much appreciated!

    Don't the rubber washers go on the shank side of the sway bar links before you install the links. It's used to keep tension on the link locking pin. Good luck.

    Hey Darryl. I'm not sure if you check your these message but I'm hoping to you can through some light onto my situation. I'll attach some photos so you can see what issue I'm have trying to install my rubicon express disconnects. I can not fit the bottom of the sway into the "bullet" because the bracket that holds the steering dampener is in thr way its "too close" . 😬🥺🤔🤬

    I swear I'm not copying you Darryl. Went to my shop and they happened to have these in stock and I bought them. UA-camd if anyone installed them and here I am again! Installed the left no problem whatsoever. Went to do the lower mounting bolt on the right and seems I stripped it! Waiting to hear back from Rubicon Express on a replacement part

    Great video just installed my disconnects, I had to use a Tap to get the bolt to screw into the frame, that wasn't mentioned in the video, or I missed it. Anyway all worked out thanks for the video.

      Hey Ron, glad it worked out. From memory, I didn't have to tap the frame.

    Thanks for the helpful video, do you know how much uptravel increased? My tj has 2" lift and 33" tyres, and my top clearance from the fenders is already tight. Im keen for the articulation from the increase in down travel as you've shown but worried about scrubbing tyres on the fenders.

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 роки тому

      You need to add more bumpstop to the front so the tyres don't hit (it's a normal thing to do in Wranglers), or a body lift.

    Hi great video just got mine and was wondering where the included flat washers go? I looked at the directions and it said on top of the U bracket? But you didn’t put them in? Just curious

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 роки тому

      Just had a look and in the installation booklet it states (hope this helps) - IMPORTANT: flat washers are supplied for use with 1984-01 Cherokee XJ and 1993-98 Grand Cherokee ZJ models ONLY. DO NOT use with other models.

    Thanks for the video. I almost lost my mind fighting to get the bottom to hook back up after a day of trail riding. I was on flat ground. Can't figure out why it was such a nightmare. Almost keeps me from disconnecting again. Any advice sir?

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 роки тому +1

      If it's on flat ground maybe the sway bar links aren't adjusted correctly. In the garage at home I'd disconnect one side and then set the adjustment up so it goes back on smoothly without issue. I also find if I have issues reconnecting (because of uneven ground etc) it's sometimes easier to drive over a rock or the like to bring the axle closer to the sway bar link post instead of trying to push or pull the sway bar. by hand. A quick squirt of penetrant on the rubber bush also makes it easier to slide the link onto its post too.

    I have just fitted JKS Quicker Disconnects to my 2002 RHD TJ. These look exactly the same design, so I am interested in the passenger side. For me the passenger side does not function, the steering damper mount prevents the bottom of the disconnect being taken off the "bullet". Did you have any sort of similar issue?

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  2 роки тому

      Yes, it's an issue with RHD versions. It works if you take off the drivers side first before attempting the passengers side. When installing do the passengers side first. I find some WD40 or the like helps with removal, you could also trim a bit off the steering dampener mount with a flap wheel.

    Will having the sway bar disconnected improve ride quality off road? Or do I just need to lower tire pressure and possibly get new shocks? I have a 99 TJ with the same OME lift but I have the light springs on it. It looks like it still has the factory sway bar end links so the rake of the sway bar is tilted downward a good bit. I plan on getting the JKS disconnects soon. I'm just hoping it may make it ride better both connected and disconnected once I get the sway bar about level.

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  2 роки тому

      Sway bar disconnected makes a nicer ride off road as it lets the front axle follow the contours of the tracks freely. Lower tyre pressure also helps here, just make sure you pump back up and re-connect sway bar before you get back onto the blacktop.

  • @BittnerBuddenbrock
    @BittnerBuddenbrock 3 роки тому

    Why do the disconnects always always come in pairs when one side would be enough to gain wheeltravel?
    If one side is disconnected the other side is free to travel just as much as the disconnect side

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 роки тому +3

      You're right and sometimes I've done this. However if I'm out for a days hard core wheeling, I tend to always disconnect both sides. The worry is that with only one side disconnected and the opposing wheel travelling to extremes of travel, the disconnected end of the sway bar will move to extremes too and possibly come into contact with the inner wheel arch or the like.

  • @BoostedTJ

    WD40 is not a cutting fluid and does your drill bits no good I don't know why everyone uses WD40 for everything other than it's actual purpose

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 роки тому +1

      I agree, but with cheap Bunnings bits a quick squirt of WD40 doesn't hurt when using a hand drill
