I grew up in the Bay Area in the 1980's. I've been back about once a year for a few days since the early 1990's. I stopped going to the SF Bay Area all together in the 2010's. It's gone down hill so much that unless absolutely necessary, I'll never return there again. I've lived in 5 states and one foreign country since the 90's. The SF Bay Area is the worst of all of those places. Don't let all of these techy boys and idiots tell you about "California being the 6th largest economy in the world". That means nothing to the general populace that lives and works in the area. I've lived in California for 35 of my 47 years, every state I've lived in other than California (Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Georgia) were all safer, cleaner, and much better quality of life.

I CAN TELL YOU FROM A LOCAL’S POINT OF VIEW:
Filth: It can be seen, especially in the Financial District, but have you ever been to NYC or LA? It is the same thing, what can you do..
Homelessness: Really, San Francisco is only the 6th city with most homeless, guess who’s number 1? Yes, NYC, but the thing is that they actually have shelters over there and only 15% of their homeless population is on the streets of a 315 sq mi city. It is big! San Francisco is only 46 sq mi!
Drugs on the streets and poop: Yea, this is a major problem here.. needles have been spotted in parks all across The City and feeces are a real problem in the Tenderloin district, along with trash and some homeless here and there... And yes, this city has the most expensive housing in the US, on par with Manhattan, but the cost of living overall is lower than Manhattan. Otherwise, it is a pretty cool city, especially for tech jobs and the fact that it is so beautiful!

We still could not afford a house and rented a 3 bedroom apartment (1300 SQ FT) for $3500 a month. I grew up in neighboring South City and San Bruno back when blue collar jobs were plentiful. Places like United had (I think) their largest maintenence hub, filled with great paying union jobs, right there in our town. (SFO isn't in SF proper, for those who don't know. it stradles South City and parts of San Bruno) Once that first wave of yuppies hit SF in the 80s, the area started to change for the worse. It never fails to amaze me how flooding a market with new wealth f*cks up an entire region. Now, instead of multi-generations establishing neighborhoods and bringing flavor to our lives, total strangers are mindlessly pushing property costs sky high while ignoring the very fabric of the local scene. The great clubs are closing. The neighborhood bars are closing. It's all gentrified into boring nothingness. SF used to be a true lady on the streets and a freak in the sheets, but now it's just thin facade of it's former glory. Without the adventurous nature of some of it's glosious former residents of note, we wouldn't have free speech as we know it today. I love this vid but hate to see what has happened to my favorite big city.

The ironic thing is: I’m watching That’s So Raven, which takes place in San Francisco

The housing market is absolutely ridiculous. People are making $15/hr paying $3000 a month in rent. What's the point if u cant save money? Zero.

Thanks Briggs..A few things, there are 16K homeless in San Francisco and more everyday. 8K is on the streets and the other 8K is in homeless shelters. Also the traffic is sooooo bad because of Lyft and Uber here is over 50K of them and they don't know how to drive here in the city. there are so many other things why anyone should NOT move here but your info is a great start. Thanks again..

I’m good, coming from San Francisco! Thank you for asking! Also we both know the techies suck around here!

That's what's destroying san Francisco actually!... Tech businesses over populatating and making real estate go up. My older brother is a police officer out there and says drugs and homelessness is really bad but not because of the housing market. It's because the legalization of cerrain drugs and addiction are the real reason. The mainstream media just wants ppl to think it's about financial reasons. America is what sucks

#1 should have been the human feces problem in SF they have an app to map out where its at .

I used to live in SF, the city I love and hate equally. I waste no time condemning that town but I was just there for a few days and didn't see anyone shooting up or defecating on the street. I did come across new public bathrooms.

@@99999myk when there is an app for human feces i would probably skip that town all together unless i had a bio hazard suit to stroll through the town.

@@NatureRecycleFlorida I know that and I, myself, have been blessed to see some worthless bum defecate on my street but don't be fooled by the exaggeration. Shit doesn't coat that town. What really pissed me off, which is NEVER mentioned in any anti-SF video, is the fact that one can get in trouble by the thought police there. I got in trouble at work for saying Christmas and when I complained about it to the so-called liberals, they sided with my boss. Me: I'm a thought criminal. Wanted in San Francisco, Seattle and NYC.
