If you are using a window unit and if the air becomes humid, reduce the cooling degree of the air conditioner to reduce the humidity inside the house. The air conditioner uses the humidity outside to cool the inside.
Midea inverter is a great AC... I've had it for a year and can't complain. I also have the LG inverter which has served me well for a few years, but when that goes bad I think I'll replace it with another midea since it's more compact, makes better use of the window, includes a bracket, allows more operational versatility with app controls, and cheaper.
To be fair, those traditional window Air conditioners were often used in a special opening on the wall that was specifically meant to hold them, being able to retrofit an existing sash window with one of them was just an extra option. Hotels we're even made with the opening for the AC below a window and many homes and apartments had the opening high on the wall to allow better air circulation.
They just need to design something for casement or awning windows that pivot out which were popular in the 80's. It is fortunate that the sash window has regained popularity with new construction so these window AC options are once again possible but we do have a lot of houses with those casement and awning windows.

The thermostat won’t let us go under 60f , is that normal? Could it be a faulty unit or am I asking too much of it?lol
Have you ever had a window ac that would take a room below 60? As long as you matched the size with the BTU properly. Here's a couple tips. Eco mode is default, but it shuts the machine off if once room reaches desired temp. near the machine. Restarts take a lot of energy and time to regain the cool. Be sure you have a tilt to the outside, but not too much tilt. The water in the outside pan is important. Make sure you did not remove the drain plug in the pan as water in the pan is how these work. Don't start with a 60 setting if the room is heat soaked at 88 degrees. Try to start with no more than 6 degrees difference and it will work better to start. Once the room starts too cool you can lower it.
It has indentations on the bottom that keep it secure side to side. Then 2 bars and screws secure it. Honestly one of if not the most secure units available.
I have one still in the box and am reluctant to install it bc I don’t leave window ACs installed all year. Any advice? The bracket makes it seem impossible to install and uninstall every summer.
Once you set it up the first time, reinstallation in the same window is a breeze. I can uninstall and store in less than 20 minutes and reinstall in less than 20 minutes as well.
A lot of apartments don’t allow you to put in these air conditioners unless you own yours or have a nice building manager. Any recommendations if that’s the case? I hear you may want a double hose portable ac?
Portable Air Conditioners are inefficient with energy consumption, space and they are loud. Why wouldn't an apartment allow you to use these? Most apartments require mounts, or that they do the mounting, but they shouldn't care if you buy one of these.
Your choices are either a portable unit with casement adapter, or a casement a/c unit. * Links Below amzn.to/3YeTbxV (Portable a/c example) amzn.to/3NevNv6 (Portable a/c casement adapter) amzn.to/3NevNv6 (Casement a/c Includes installation bracket materials)
correct me if im wrong ...In Canada or should I say in Toronto it's illegal to put in window A.C. in apartments because a 3 yr girl died from accidental drop from the top floor a few years ago
The inside window bracket has holes in the bottom as well. You could screw it down to the sill instead of on the ends. The Midea window frame locks will not be long enough, so you won't have that extra security, but you could live without them as long as the mount arms and sill screws are solid. Then you would just need to either tape together extra midea insulation which you can find here: amzn.to/3xyqToC Or fabricate something out of rigid insulation.
The brackets can be confusing to set up that’s the only problem and you have to put a pin and a cotter pin on the main arm to keep it in place and trying figure out where to put the foam however it runs very quiet which is nice
I installed one in my bedroom last year. I just bought a second one. I'm installing the new one in my bedroom and moving the old one to the living room. The new one has Matter and I can add it to Apple Home. Now I can schedule it to go on before we go upstairs to go to bed.
My niece has won in Michigan, I live in very hot humid Florida and my big AC heating unit went out and they just bought this for me and all I can say is I am jumping up and down with excitement!! It is so cool in here and I live in a mobile home so essentially I live in an oven in hell 🤣😭 I love this AC and I'm going to follow you just for this video popping up on my feet less than 24 hours after I installed this!!!!😊
We just bought this today for our rent house. Just need an ac for one bedroom the rest is central. Hopefully it works well! I was excited to put it in because it seems fancy as hell ❤
i have this one it’s really nice but took me awhile to figure out the timer feature because i assumed the timer being on the ON position was saying that the timer was on for the AC to turn off but in fact it was quite the opposite so my ac bill was like $210 one week tryna figure out how the timer worked lol
@@elitehandyman911 yes plugged directly into the outlet. We flipped the breaker back on and the electricity refuses to come back on in that corner of the room. Great design, but I’m not impressed with the cooling. I can’t seem to get it anywhere near the room set temperature. It’s still the first night, so hopefully it will improve. 😢
Here are some tips. Make sure it's the right size for your room. They actually do do belter after a bit of use since they utilize the built up condensation water to be efficient. Make sure you have the tilt correct. Not too much and not too little. Make sure you didn't remove the pan drain plug outside. Make sure you have it set to cool, not auto with eco off. Check the temp with a thermometer after running for 20 minutes. It should be 60 degrees or lower. If not, call Midea and they will likely send out a replacement under warranty.
Do not buy! Midea didn't think at all about how to clean it. Yes, it works quietly, we bought it in May 2024, and we have been suffering from a mold smell for a month now. Midea didn't think about maintenance, it's impossible to reach contaminated areas and it's impossible to pull it out of the case like a regular AC. Customer service did not help at all.
You could use plywood if you need added security, However, I prefer cutting solid insulation like this one from Home Depot www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-Corning-FOAMULAR-NGX-F-150-1-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-SSE-R-5-XPS-Rigid-Foam-Board-Insulation-20WENGX/315197840 You will need to secure the mount too, which is easily accomplished with an L bracket.
@@elitehandyman911 Strongly considering replacing my 20 year old Fredrich because they finally made something more modern and different. Tired of “warmer or cooler” as my thermostat too! It’s between this and the GE one.
@@elitehandyman911 Yes that!! I seen it upper $300-$400 range as better priced. I feel like if you have the room, the U shaped down is better off. If you need space for storage/have an obstruction underneath than this one U side up is better.
@@elitehandyman911 North America uses 120/240v Center-tapped at 60 hz, whilst Australia and Europe use 240v at 50hz, which won't play nice with the A/C. even if you got a 240V model, the compressor would run slow since it's built to run on 60hz not 50hz.
The foam in the channel and across the seat of the window before placing the unit in position is a key for a good seal, I'll have to do that next time instead of stuffing it afterwards.
Not true. You just need to make sure your bracket goes out far enough. The adjustments are pretty good on these brackets. We just installed one on a brick building where it had a huge stone sill sticking way out.
That’s super cool! Never knew ac like this existed now 😂 always thought it was big ones that were mandated to leave the window half open. However my question is, does this work for opening side to side windows?
they made those types of brackets legally required in NYC now right? I know if you live in an apartment building they have to have some sort of cage. or rack.
I just got one from Costco yesterday, stressing to get it installed. Is there an app that will help you manage it? I heard you can even see the amount of energy that is using?
There is an app and it's worth setting up if you forget to turn it off, or want to set timers, etc. I am able to turn it on and off from anywhere, so when I was away for work and came home 3 days later to 90 degrees, I started cooling my apartment down on the way from the airport and it was nice when I got home.
anyone have it leak onto the window seal?? the tilt is fine and it just started doing this after 2 months of no issues. need to find a clogged drain maybe??
Make sure the filter is clean and Check the level again. We had a client with this issue and it turns out someone had pushed down on it from the inside which changed the angle. If you open the filter door the water should be flowing by gravity from the inside right to the back of the unit. It is possible dirt, debris, bugs or something has blocked that passage way and you should be able to clean it with a concentrated burst of air or even water. Follow and I'll make a short video shortly showing where and how to clean this area.
Rain is not a problem for window air conditioners in use, however if it will not be used for an extended period of time, it's smart to get a winter cover or remove it for the winter.
If it doesn't cool , definitely return it. These things cool quite well. If you ordered through Amazon Prime, they may just send you a new one without having to pack up and return the bad one.
@@elitehandyman911 how long does it normally take to cool a room like 20x25? I was watching tv it felt fresh but not cool or cold at all and I was still sweating a bit. Does this cool a room only? Just ordered a second unit today. Expected ETA is 7/16. Lowes truly sucks at having these in house, once you order on the app.
That's why so many people use our Amazon link instead of Lowes or Depot.
Does it come with the brackets
Yes. It comes with everything shown in this vide here: ua-cam.com/video/DQ-suzrvluw/v-deo.html
Looks like good unit will it work for window that slides side way or is there a different model to fit windows that open side ways?
This one will not work for sliding windows.
You need something called a casement window ac like this one: amzn.to/3z8ORqP
What range is Super on? As opposed to efficient or quiet?
I like cool with eco mode off and high fan temp set at 60
Cool on, eco off, fan high, temp 60
I have one still in the box and am reluctant to install it bc I don’t leave window ACs installed all year. Any advice? The bracket makes it seem impossible to install and uninstall every summer.
Once you set it up the first time, reinstallation in the same window is a breeze. I can uninstall and store in less than 20 minutes and reinstall in less than 20 minutes as well.
Is this a good brand and/ or reliable?
I’ll be posting my 4 year review end of week. I have two myself. So far quite reliable, but getting louder with age.
Tyvm for your imput. I procrastinated but just ordered one. Does this unit have a water drain on the bottom?
it really cools down a room?
Absolutely. They say 350 sq. ft. for 8,000 btu and they also have a 10k and 12 k option. I prefer the 8K version myself. Bigger is not always better.
I live in a house with steel-framed casement windows that crank-open with hinges on one side.
What so you have for me?
Your choices are either a portable unit with casement adapter, or a casement a/c unit.
* Links Below
amzn.to/3YeTbxV (Portable a/c example)
amzn.to/3NevNv6 (Portable a/c casement adapter)
amzn.to/3NevNv6 (Casement a/c Includes installation bracket materials)
Can this be used in RV with slide-up windows that are curved st corners?
I mean you probably could, but wouldn't you rather get a system specifically designed for an RV?
I like that rack for it. Does that come with it or order separate
That rack and a full set of weather-stripping and white foam are included. The included rack is shaped to hold onto the bottom of the a/c case.
Does the bracket have to be removed at the end of the season? Will it inhibit window from closing/locking completely?
Yes, but it's super easy to remove. Once you've done the initial setup it's very quick to uninstall and reinstall.
correct me if im wrong ...In Canada or should I say in Toronto it's illegal to put in window A.C. in apartments because a 3 yr girl died from accidental drop from the top floor a few years ago
I don't think that's correct, however they probably have a mount requirement like NYC just passed that law.
Do you have Pic or idea for installing it for 47" window?
Check out a full install video here - ua-cam.com/video/DQ-suzrvluw/v-deo.html
I installed one in my bedroom last year. I just bought a second one. I'm installing the new one in my bedroom and moving the old one to the living room. The new one has Matter and I can add it to Apple Home. Now I can schedule it to go on before we go upstairs to go to bed.
Sounds like a good plan. Please tell me what "matter" is.
Boom just what i was look for

My niece has won in Michigan, I live in very hot humid Florida and my big AC heating unit went out and they just bought this for me and all I can say is I am jumping up and down with excitement!! It is so cool in here and I live in a mobile home so essentially I live in an oven in hell 🤣😭 I love this AC and I'm going to follow you just for this video popping up on my feet less than 24 hours after I installed this!!!!😊
So glad you're able to keep cool right now. Your niece is good family.
Thanks so much for the follow and support. .It's greatly appreciated.
I love it
Thank you for your support
Anybody knows if it comes with the support for installation?
Midea all come with window their own sill mounts
We just bought this today for our rent house. Just need an ac for one bedroom the rest is central. Hopefully it works well! I was excited to put it in because it seems fancy as hell ❤
You should love it. Let us know what you think after a day or two with it.
The other benefit is you can close the window which gives better insulation than the curtains seen on other window units
Absolutely. That’s a great point.
Does it come with that window tray?
If you mean the mount, or support, yes. Also comes with the insulation for the sides and bottom.
Thanks.
Can bugs come in ?
Not as long as you seal the window properly.
i have this one it’s really nice but took me awhile to figure out the timer feature because i assumed the timer being on the ON position was saying that the timer was on for the AC to turn off but in fact it was quite the opposite so my ac bill was like $210 one week tryna figure out how the timer worked lol
Have you utilized the app on your phone yet? I love the app.
Odd. This popped up, I just installed one of these yesterday. Super quiet
Awesome!
I think you will love it as much as I do.
Does anyone know if it will install correctly with storm windows?
It depends on your type of storm windows, but most of time it’s easy. Other times there’s always a solution.
this AC tripped the breaker, do you think it's a wiring in the apartment issue? I haven't seen anyone else have this same issue.
Most likely an issue with the breaker. Are you plugged directly into the outlet? No extension cords or power strips right?
@@elitehandyman911 yes plugged directly into the outlet. We flipped the breaker back on and the electricity refuses to come back on in that corner of the room. We’re calling an electrician to come take a look. Hopefully we get the issue resolved because this heatwave is getting old! Thank u for ur reply
What's the brand? Madea??
Please see the description for links to the Midea brand.
Please make a video of cleaning this unit
Sorry for your experience. I'm curious where you live? What's your climate like?
Can the window be locked
The back of the a/c has retractable window locks on it.
How can I modify the extension arms to be longer. My window is 47 in wide. Have any idea what I could use to extend them?
You could use plywood if you need added security, However, I prefer cutting solid insulation like this one from Home Depot
www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-Corning-FOAMULAR-NGX-F-150-1-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-SSE-R-5-XPS-Rigid-Foam-Board-Insulation-20WENGX/315197840
You will need to secure the mount too, which is easily accomplished with an L bracket.
I have mine for 2 years already
Nice & easy
Thanks for watching :-)
Have 2 of these in my house. Quiet and cold. Cant ask for more
Thanks so much for the support
Can you replace central ac with this? Like would 2 of these cool down your house
Best ac in the world ong
Thanks so much for the support
mine just arrived from Amazon
That's awesome, enjoy your new quiet, cool comfort.
Is it really that much quieter? Worth it then if so.
It is.
However, my 4 year old personal units are getting louder.
@@elitehandyman911
Strongly considering replacing my 20 year old Fredrich because they finally made something more modern and different. Tired of “warmer or cooler” as my thermostat too!
It’s between this and the GE one.
When you say GE do you mean the upside down u shaped one like this? amzn.to/3XNBzIO
@@elitehandyman911
Yes that!! I seen it upper $300-$400 range as better priced. I feel like if you have the room, the U shaped down is better off. If you need space for storage/have an obstruction underneath than this one U side up is better.
Great point. In
New England, the older homes have radiators below the windows.
I wish these were sold in Australia.
I'll bet you can find them on Amazon
@@elitehandyman911 North America uses 120/240v Center-tapped at 60 hz, whilst Australia and Europe use 240v at 50hz, which won't play nice with the A/C. even if you got a 240V model, the compressor would run slow since it's built to run on 60hz not 50hz.
How much do one of these cost?
You'll have to check the listing and choose your size.
Here's the link: amzn.to/3x6Bff6
Where was that bracket bought from?
All the MIdea U shaped air conditioners include the brackets
It’s comes with it
The foam in the channel and across the seat of the window before placing the unit in position is a key for a good seal, I'll have to do that next time instead of stuffing it afterwards.
Good take away. A good seal makes so much difference.
There are window sill heat pumps
Yep
So how does it work if your windows open sideways ?
Unfortunately this one won't work, but you can get a casement air conditioner like the one here: amzn.to/3V5GKTc
I bought one, but unfortunately, my window, when open, the measurements didn't create enough room to put the unit in. 😢
Oh no!
If you got it from Amazon you can return easily.
I live in a brick old building, the bracket doesn’t work when the window has a sill outside that sticks out.
This does not fit side to side windows. You need a casement air conditioner.
I don't recommend these to my friends because I accidentally dropped it on my uncles porche
HaHa! Ohhhh You're the one?
Very quiet. Most of the noise is isolated on the exterior portion outside. You literally only hear the wind coming out of it.
Thank you for your support
There’s a pickup tube that moves the water from the front to the back already thousands of reports of them getting blocked and leaking.
Please post the link to the report so we can inform people.
What if your window slide from side to side not up an down
Unfortunately you need a potable unit, or the best choice is a casement window ac like this one * amzn.to/3Yzurlw
the back should be titled down a little bit?
Yes. The condensation flows from the inside to the outside by gravity. A slight tilt allows this to work properly.
DOES THIS EXIST FOR EUROPEAN WINDOWS???
I don't know what a European window is.
@@elitehandyman911 they open like a door inside the room
they made those types of brackets legally required in NYC now right? I know if you live in an apartment building they have to have some sort of cage. or rack.
Good information. I believe several other cities will follow suite.
What about one for a window that slide opens
Unfortunately they do not make this type of ac for a sliding window. You need something like this:
amzn.to/4b5lJ13
I just got one from Costco yesterday, stressing to get it installed. Is there an app that will help you manage it? I heard you can even see the amount of energy that is using?
There is an app and it's worth setting up if you forget to turn it off, or want to set timers, etc. I am able to turn it on and off from anywhere, so when I was away for work and came home 3 days later to 90 degrees, I started cooling my apartment down on the way from the airport and it was nice when I got home.
The app is called "Midea Air".
anyone have it leak onto the window seal?? the tilt is fine and it just started doing this after 2 months of no issues. need to find a clogged drain maybe??
Make sure the filter is clean and Check the level again. We had a client with this issue and it turns out someone had pushed down on it from the inside which changed the angle. If you open the filter door the water should be flowing by gravity from the inside right to the back of the unit. It is possible dirt, debris, bugs or something has blocked that passage way and you should be able to clean it with a concentrated burst of air or even water. Follow and I'll make a short video shortly showing where and how to clean this area.
@@elitehandyman911 level is fine and filter is clean. i just dont know how to access the passage way 😭
Or Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up we called it the “brick jungle!” 😅🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱
Sounds very similar to here
This AC would be the best but we need something on top of it just in case it rains the AC won’t get wet
Rain is not a problem for window air conditioners in use, however if it will not be used for an extended period of time, it's smart to get a winter cover or remove it for the winter.
@@elitehandyman911 oh yea thx
What about sliding windows?
They do make window a/c units for sliding windows, but this s not it.
You need something like this: amzn.to/4abLkor
@@elitehandyman911 the window isnt that high its a short sliding the top part is closed
Prize plz
Prices always change depending on where you live and supply / demand.
Check current price for the 8K unit here: amzn.to/4dTxutV
Yeah but if the windows don’t slide up and you have the ones that slide horizontally can’t use this one 😢
Correct. You can use a casement unit or portable.
I'm returning it for sure. I think it may be defective because it surely sucks.
I mean when I had my older one it got pretty cold my wife would get a blanket while watching a movie. Ice cold AC? Nope.
They break down around 6 months
Sorry that you’ve had that experience. Did you contact Midea for warranty replacement?
