I'm liking the looks of it!
How will I purchase this thing ? Its still in "crowdfunding" now and indigogo does not sound good.
@Timothy Mckee They must be just getting into window units. They're not any on the website.
@Timothy Mckee I did find their other products finally under the "services" tab. It says this model is coming soon so F it! I just reserved one!
If in the United States they build their homes better, they would not need to spend as much energy to condition them.
Thanks for NOT making a 25 minute video that has 5 minutes of info. Fantastic Review!
I’ve been in the HVAC industry for over 30 years. It looks like a great design. I love to see new innovative ideas. They’ve taken the mini split design and made it even more compact.
Great points, pretty clever idea and I like the price is reasonable. The sound level is truly night and day from what you would normally hear from a regular AC.
And technically portable!!
So would this be suitable for a sealed grow room?
@@rob2991 Definitely, it also has a dedicated dehumidifier function too.
@@SilverCymbal Thanks.
Correction: You don't want the bracket completely level. It should angle slightly downward on the outside. Use a bubble level and adjust it to angle by 1/4 of a bubble.
Is that so the condensation water can drain outdoors?
@@BullToTheShit yes
@@TE5LA-GAMING Thanks.
Yes! I learned this the hard way when I saw water in the front part of my AC 😅
Okay thanks for sharing info I just got one ! I'm not a ac guy thank you sir !👍
I bought one of these for my bedroom and was so blown away by how well it performed, I immediately threw out my living room unit and replaced it with one of these as well. Quietest A/C ever. I can actually watch TV at night again with this running without my wife complaining the TV is too loud. Our A/C is on my side of the bed and was very loud so had to crank the volume or try to read lips or captions. Problem solved.
And no more ear plugs when you're sleeping.
I'm curious have you ever had a mold issue where you had to take it apart and clean it?
I would love to see one for horizontally sliding windows.
They shall be mounted vertically.
Don't put it on it's side. The compressor is not designed to go sideways. The oil needs to flow properly or its going to burn out quick. Ignore these people... they have no idea.
@Patriots Rising Had no idea you were trying to be funny. There are too many stupid people in the world and jokes/sarcasm doesn't translate well in text unless you're super obvious about it.
Exactly... This is no used for me 😒
You might be able to add some wood as a frame to the gap between but it will block some sunlight of course or you can get pixie glass and do a wood frame around it if you want that sunlight...

I don't have your level of income, but you always try to make your reviews to show as affordable an option as possible. Definitely subscribed with alerts. Thank you for putting in the time, money and effort to educate the little guy as to what is out there. Keep it up. I look forward to binging your channel and all of your future videos. Semper Fi !!

Just ordered Midea AC via Amazon, was watching daily waiting for price decrease and today was the day, then price went up but does tend to fluctuate. Love the design with full window close. This video will help when it comes time to install. Thank You!
I (70 yr old female) spent today cleaning all my windows inside and outside. I then installed two window A/Cs... one in my bedroom and one in the kitchen. Now I have the 12,000 BTU Midea shown in the video to install in the living room. My son and I watched the installation video but I'm too beat to install it this afternoon! My son told me he'll come over while I'm out tomorrow and get started installing it for me! By the time I get home, he'll either have it done (I hope) or I'll be able to help him place it in the window... It is pretty damned heavy!
We bought one 2 weeks. It is fantastic and very easy to install! We are so happy that we came across this video. Its easy to use and it runs great. We put it in our Florida room and we are buying another one for in the bedroom .
This was such a great AC. 2 years later its great to see how much people are liking it
@@SilverCymbal was? Did it not last? Massachusetts here too. Love the videos. We are looking at these units but you saying “was” makes me wonder if it didn’t last.
I have had a 1 ton Midea cooling an aluminum 350 sqft shed with R7 insulation in Florida and it works great! We don't even see it on the electric bill ($15 to $20/mo in summer), and that is saying something in Florida. It is the most efficient A/C I have ever used and being in Florida all my life I have been through many A/C units. It is the best investment I have ever made. And it is SO quiet that sometimes I have to check it to be sure it is on when I leave the shed. I keep the shed at 76 or 77 all summer long.
I live in a doublewide mobile home , my central unit went out , with no job and having only soc. sec. i can not afford
to buy a new central unit , i was able to buy this midea window unit , i installed it in the smallest room of my house and
just moved EVERYTHING into that room ( tv , computer , game console , bed , everything ) now that is the room i exist
in , the only room in the house with a/c , i am very happy with this a/c unit , very energy efficient and keeps me cool
even tho outside temps are hitting 110 F or 43 C in the shade . it is hot , even at night it stays above 80 F / 27 C so the
a/c unit runs 24/7 and my electric bills run under $100 / mo ; i just LOVE my midea a/c .
It's awesome that someone thought out of the box with this design. No pun intended. Before we moved to the suburbs we used to live in Chicago on the 3rd floor and I would laugh and have Seinfeld moments when I put one of the traditional units in. I was always surprised that they were never outlawed all together since it's so easy to loose one out of a window. But talk about a safe and convienentveit new design with an easy to install support bracket. No excessive bugs, rain or snow getting in, or outdoor noise with easy to cut foam.
I just wanna say that this video was incredibly helpful. I was frustrated with both the manual and the video accompanying it. Your video saved me a huge headache and a lot of time so thank you!!!!!
Wow, thank you. so glad it helped. Its a great AC I think you will love it.
Same here. Just got the 12,000 btu one at Costco. $369 missed the sale last week. It was $289
No idea why this was on my feed but it was quite interesting
Install this backwards and you have a heater!

I have central air but I got installed a mini split in the master bedroom since it’s the only room that gets poor ventilation
This video reminded me I haven't cleaned my mini split filter in a while...
that's tough as wall thickness very so much more then windows. I guess if you really don't want to see it then get a ductless or ducted system installed. A price point can only go so far. But I like your Idea.
We bought this AC. It's great so far. Really ingenious. Hope all window ACs have a U shape in the future. Fabulous.
Quiet?
Just got my second…truly is the best window unit on the market.
Kinda like a split AC...condenser on the outside, evap on the inside. Definitely a better mouse trap. Thanks for the review.

Midea has come a long way from cheap Chinese AC products to one of the innovative AC in the market. Thumb up.
This video ALONE has won you a cybcyriber 👌🏽
You’ve made me feel like I’ve found the jackpot for air conditioners.
I wonder how much electricity it draws compared to others equally as modern or new...
I appreciate that, when I did this you can see it was late winter and I only had two weeks to work with it. but I felt strongly about it then. Now fast forward a year later and the reviews continue to be off the charts so I think I was spot on with my feelings about this. one. Best window AC yet! amzn.to/2T0uuYh
@@SilverCymbal I appreciate the quick response and honesty too. In the time you had you managed to make a very precise and informative and organized video.
Part of the reason why your reviews are off the charts is most likely due to a new revival to an old movement.
In the 50s and 60s people did a lot of traveling and RVing. Around the time of the Pinup era.
90s kids are bringing that back with a new name. The schoolie movement. Instead of RVs, we use DIY school buses. Hence the “schoolie” name.
AC is very important. I’m a schoolie member myself which is how I found your video in the first place ☺️
If you find an AC unit that’s easy for the DIY schoolie person like this one, but better, in the future? Make a new video about that new AC unit. Will bring you more views I’m sure.
Also, thanks for the link at the bottom of your response, I’m already excited. Gonna watch it now 😁💪🏽
Costco presently has the 12k BTU unit for $400, just saw it in the store for the first time and was curious about the design, so here I am looking into it. Seems like something to get, haven't seen anything bad about it in terms of operation or durability.
We bought two and they work GREAT!!
Easy to install and remove. I didn’t use any screws to mount.
Interesting, no screws at all
How did you install a window unit with no screws at all?
Is it quiet enough
I was looking up this exact model and Mr. Cymbal's video popped. Unreal. You're the most valuable person in the US!
every AC needs this design
Then there would be no competition though
Oooo, like it! They are going fast on early bird already 🙀
Best & straight-forward review. I'm convinced and will buy it.
Its a great AC
if u did buy it can you lemme know if its as good as the video shows
I have this unit and I love it. Looks good, quiet, and it works well.
Thanks for doing a review on this AC as I have been looking at it for quite a while and I am considering buying it soon.
I’m impressed!!! Ur videos r always well done!! Great job!
Thank you very much
Nice design. I especially like the holding rack on the outside.
Me too, definitely much safer, people have been hurt from air conditioners falling from windows. This prevents it. I think its code requirement too now in many cities.
I do HVAC for more than a quarter century and this looks like a hell of design, easy filter, and has all the modern bells and whistles....but the support is genius.
Damn that looks really good with even a proper split design 0.0
When the swing went up I promise you I felt the cool air
I just bought this model and have had it running for a week. I have never done an easier installation. I am amazed by this unit, it is everything and more. But out of everything is its lack of noise, all you hear is a small fan sound, and the temperature stays within a half of a degree always. It might be a hundred dollars more than other "good ones" but I would have paid more just to have it. Get one, you will never regret it, honestly!
Is there a way to keep the motorized swing arm that evenly distributes the air open? without it opening and closing?
What's the approximate square footage you think this could cool realistically. I'm looking at putting this in my man cave which is about 400 sq ft.? (going to get 12000 BTU model)
@@Aceofthedynasty the box claims 550 sq ft, so it would seem to be well suited
@@sadfur8728 do you think it is small enough to fit in an 18 inch wide windowsill?
@@shelldaniel6412 no, that's too narrow for the unit.
Wow, great AC. Thank you Sir for the review, I'll check it out online.
Currently have a portable AC because of a previously sliding window for an apartment. Now in my house I have double hung windows and the portable is just too loud. The low sound coming from this unit is the most intriguing part and I will be looking for one right meow.
I'm in love with the design of this device. Brilliant! Feels bad when you have to settle for a portable ac (wrong window style) :/
Same here. Got a Magnavox 12,000 BTU portable AC. Works perfect because I had nowhere to drain it either. Its a newer version and doesn't require draining
@@dontaskdonttell_ Can you please elaborate about your air conditioner? Does it work still? Does it cool? Is it a window unit or something different? And how does it not drain I’m desperate for info
Finally, efficiency of a mini-split and the easy installation and reusability of a window unit! This will sell well in the u.s.
right - thats what sold me after alot of research
Except it only cools, doesn’t heat like a mini split can
It's a great AC. I have three installed. My wife absolutely loves this AC.
what about the mold issue that 2 people have replaced? although only 2 people TOTAL have agreed with them.
from Massachusetts too, and bought that a/c. Just like the mini split I had and loved. Wish it had come out when I bought the ones for kitch ,and office. I hope they break. The Midea is the best!
It's a window mini split. Ingenious idea. You can put mini splits in all rooms without blasting through your walls. I would also cut your screen so it goes around the AC so you can have a screen when you open up the window so bugs don't fly in.
As a day sleeper, this looks like it will solve all my problems. I've tried using a window unit in the past, and it cools very well, but its vents let light into the room. With this, I can just cover up the window and slide the window down. I can sleep in darkness AND stay cool. As long as it cools well, I think I might be sold!
I got one of these about a year about a year ago myself, and I was kinda skeptical about the noise claims, but darned if they aren't right. It's super quiet, like a fan running. The difference from even a small traditional window AC is insane.
@@Sidecutter And because it's using an inverter, it's even slightly less expensive to run.
Did you get one? I'm a day sleeper. Hoping to find one that doesn't let light in. I would also like to find one that will keep the fan running while the compressor is off.
For real I really like this design I'm gonna buy me one!
Yes yes yes yes yes.... a few of these for my 48x12 mobile home will be amazing. I thought it was stupid at first but..... now I understand.
I really enjoy your videos. They are well done and very informative.
Don't forget to add a piece of foam to the top part of the lower window sash where the lock hardware is. There's a sizable gap there between the glass and the vinyl/ wood with most windows when they are partially open.
He skipped it in the video, but it's included in the box.

‘Installation starts by putting up an air conditioner during winter...’ lol. Sorry I couldn’t resist. Live the video and this is a cool device though.
Most AC's can heat too. If you already heat with electricity this can cut your heating bill down by a factor of 2 to 6.
@@brinkshows2720 Although some do, most actually do not have heating capabilities. This one also does not.
Nice presentation.
Will check out a few more of your vids.
Thank you I really appreciate it
I’m definitely looking into this one...thank you😀
Such a simple and elegant solution. Why didn't I think of this?
I used to own a window AC unit that instead of it being cut out to fit the window it sat in the window opening like saddle bags which meant the distance from the top of the AC unit and the window itself was only about 5 inches. To explain better just picture this AC unit being upside in the opening. There was no outside supports needed but you did need to install the blocks of insulation at each side. Of course it didn’t have any of this new AC’s features but it worked very well. Thank You
If you could recall the brand of that model and the approximate years it was on the market I would very much appreciate it!
This will be very popular for tent campers that have a second entrance flap on the back side of the tent. Most tent “doors” have double zippers that would let you close the “door” around the AC and keep the bugs out. Assuming this doesn’t need WIFI to run.
Kind of a Window Mini-Split, very cool. Will be purchasing at least one.
Thanks for the video, just installed one today and ordered another.
Glad you are loving it, It's an awesome air conditioner. amzn.to/3a18rmM

Adding that bracket is a big benefit and value
Mine arrived today. We have a an old house with strange windows. It took a bit of fussing, but I got the bracket mounted and level. The rest of the installation went swimmingly fast.
Compared to the 18yo unit it is replacing, this model is 120% more powerful and I am noticing about 2/3's quieter. Very nice, and we have a hot weekend coming up, too!

Thanks for this. Seen it on Amazon and wondered about it
Back in the day, they had units somewhat like this one. The inside part was bigger, but still had the split part in the middle. A friend of ours had an old International Harvester Air Conditioner, that was almost like this one. The louvers were on the top but it didn't do the flipping like this one did, when the compressor stopped the outside motor would shut off.
Yep this is an old design. Been around since at least the 1970's AFAIK.
Also back then I doubt they ever had the inverter tech we do today to make them as efficient as possible as well as more practical and affordable.
@@Joshua79C That is true. They used a lot more power back then, and were also VERY heavy.
When this unit cycles off having reached its temperature setpoint, does the fan shut off also or does it continue blowing to allow proper measurement of the room air temperature?
Is there an option to have it either continue blowing or turn off entirely, depending on your preference?
@tcmtech7515 correct I had one in 1973 and was great unit. I purchased a similar unit from midea and it only worked for 2 seasons. It appears that the refrigerant licked out. I'm very disappointed.
Wow Great engineer 👨💻 needed this for a long time

R Jane yes I have shore house getting 2 thank you
Its true, I bought and installed a similar unit. Very quiet. Love it so far who knows how long it will last though.
The U shape actually isn't a new idea. My grandparents had one back in the 1970's that was the same physical design. It was made back in the 60's or possibly even the 50's. I think it was called a Twin Aire. Every spring and fall I'd help grandpa lift it in and out of the window. The thing weighed a ton. I inherited it and used it for a year or two until it finally died. I could not find another like it and ended up getting one with the slider panels which of course ripped after a couple years necessitating cutting foam insulation to size and duct taping it in place. I'm glad to see someone has brought back this design replete with high tech features.
we had a window a/c with a split design just like this one way back in the '70s( and it was old when we got it) ...it was still working in 1999, that was the last time I say it
I’ve almost dropped several ACs out the window in my day. Central air saves lives!!! This is a close second.
love that you're installing this while snow is on the ground. The Midea install video and paper instructions make the install look so complicated! I was able to order this in a small window on Amazon between backorder states, loving both the design and the high EER (15!) which is higher than any other AC I've seen. Plus it uses R32. The icing on the cake are features like the automatic air flow flap and wifi controls. I suspect it will wind some design awards. Now, just have to get it installed...
I love the design of this I live in Florida and would love to test it out for my next one.
@@rosepamela6937 Thankyou
Why doesnt every AC come with a bracket like that.
Absolutely the old way to install these is very dangerous
I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say :MONEY A) they can knock $10 off the price of the A/C and then B) charge you $25 to buy the bracket separately ..but I have seen some that come with similar brackets included
Well not everyone have stupid us or uk style shitty windows. That kind of window sucks. They should make different installment for god tier north european style windows.

Just seeing this unit for first time, like, minutes ago, and already ordered it, LOL,
Great review. Short and to the point. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video! Question: Must the mounting bracket extend all the way to the sides of the widow? Couldn't you just secure a length of it the same width of the unit to the windowsill with screws? Even if you need to shim it? Asking because I have a 36" wide window and really do not see the need to go all the way to the walls regardless of the window width. Would look a lot neater too. Thoughts?
Great review of a very nice window AC unit.
Thank you very much
The very latest window type AC, Better design.
I saw this video a while back, as I do all your videos. Fast forward today I remembered it because I have a sunroom in my house about 450sqft
It has12 windows that open and 4 fixed ones that just let the light in. On top of that it has 10ft ceilings and 6 skylight that do not open. This room is a sauna, it is super hot in the summer.
The floor is bluestone and they might as well be cooking stones because they retain all the heat the sun hits them with.
The AC that is suppose to cool this room also cools my living room but there are only 2 vents in the living room and 6 in that sunroom. They do nothing to cool it. If I leave the doors to that sunroom open to the rest of the house, the AC runs all day never shutting off.
So I close the doors separating it from the rest of the house. I need to cool that room so I was going to get a mr cool mini split system just for that room but the wife hates the ugly unit you have to permanently install on the wall. I’m in northern NJ so we only need to cool that room 2-3 months. It doesn’t warrant a permanent solution. That is where this video comes in, I saw it and thought this is perfect for that room. The 12000BTU Version will do fine and when done I can put it in the basement for next summer!
Thanks for the review
Fantastic design. Clever, unique.
Great video and good product!
Thank you very much I liked it a lot.
Can’t find it online. Amazon is on back order.
I bought two last year and they worked great. It's nice to be able to open the window on cooler nights. Both were very quiet compared to other window AC's but one has a noise in the indoor motor now. I have to call about the warranty to get it fixed.
How long did you have it before it needed to get fixed?
@@kingpalafox1045 I used it for one summer + so maybe 8 months. The other has been flawless and quiet.
@@JimGrady67
Is the noise something like the fan blade contacting the side of the housing? Or bearings going bad?
Looks nice would use for my shed but I installed a ductless mini split unit
The window AC unit has not changed in decades. How nice to see something different. The indoor portable AC's suck. This looks amazing. The only thing I worry about is security with window units.
It’s pretty cool for sure. They include security brackets too that seem very solid. They attach top and bottom and should help.

Very interesting. Thanks for postng this! I like the ease of set up. Does it cool the room well? What is the lowest temperature setting? I didn't see the weight of the unit mentioned. Is it lighter than a traditional A/C unit?
It's on the website under SPECIFICATIONS.
It lookds like the foam (s) are not tall enough--little gap there--was the window down as far as it could go? Also wondering if foam gets rained upon, would there be a way to waterproof it (was thinking maybe wrap it in clear packon tape?) or is it easy to buy new of same foam?
thanks for the video. I just installed mine. The lack of noise is stunning. Really is hard to believe. Unfortunately they cut costs on quality of plastic parts. The grill, filter, and tabs are all far more flimsy than the LG one I'm replacing. The grill is constantly coming out of it's locked in position.
Excellent design. Very cool. Pun intended. Now design one for casement and sliding windows. If fesable. Or how much to change the window? 🤔
Someone needs to make a vertical version of this, c-shape for vertical windows.
I agree, what do you say if we make one for vertical windows. I would love to have one for my room, and since is energy efficient. It's even better.

Can't beat the quietness of split units but not everyone has the wall or space for split units, especially for renters. This looks like a good alternative.
