      We love our little 22' and it was a main reason why we selected the AS model over the CCD.

    Hi Rich and Cindy
    My wife and I purchased an Airstream trailer that is nearly identical to yours and finally get to go out on our maiden voyage this weekend. We ran across it last September, we were looking for a smaller trailer to be pulled with my 2005 V8 4runner. An Airstream was my wife’s dream to own. We knew finding a good used Airstream was a tall order. However it came along for us being at the right place at the right time.
    The trailer is a 2002 AS22. Apparently the people who purchased it new in 2002, used it once or twice and then parked it in a shed, they traded it in to purchased a larger trailer. We were lucky enough to be the first to look at it and feel like we got the deal of a lifetime.
    Your videos have been very helpful and we hope to meet you out there on the road some time.
    Thank you so much.
    Sincerely Chris and Diann Lehman.

      Hi Chris and Diann! Thanks so much for watching and congratulations! Think about it - your Airstream and the Luv Sub could have rolled down the production line right next to each other! Cindy wants to know if it still has the original Safari Tweed interior? Seriously, if you have any questions at all do not hesitate to zap an email to luvsubbin@gmail.com We would be happy to help in any way we can. We hope to see you down the road some day and reunite our sibling Airstreams!

    Instead of taking the paper towel off when we travel, I use a strip of thin velcro around it and it works beautifully. As the roll becomes smaller, the velcro can adjust.

    Irma and I really enjoyed getting to meet you down in Florida at E.G. Simmons and really appreciated the personal tour of your Airstream. After looking at everything out there, your floor plan is really perfect for us. Small enough to tow with the TV we want to use but big enough for my 6'4" frame with all the amenities we need. Airstream started making this floor plan in 2002, do you know what year they stopped making it with the wet bath?

      Hi guys! It was great meeting you as well and we're glad we were able to give you a tour of our Airstream. Your comment prompted us to do some research. the 22' International was only made in 2002 and 2003. For the 2004 model year, the floorplan was switched to the Safari trim level which is a lower price point. For example, the Safari does not have the full wrap around front window and the other windows are the cheaper Hehr windows versus the Airstream design. That floorplan continued off and on until it has manifested itself in the 20' Caravel. Good luck in your search and please let us know if ever you take the leap into aluminum. Safe travels.

    So many helpful hints and tips! Thank you, and you have done a wonderful job customizing your Airstream. What foil type material did you use to make your window covers?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching and the nice comment. The foil material is reflective bubble wrap. I think it goes by the name Reflectix and can be bought at any home improvement store. It's sold by the roll and we cut to shape. It's great for both winter and summer camping.

    I have a question: of the currently produced Airstreams, I only like the layout of the Bambi/Cravael 20FB model - an almost identical layout inside to your trailer, with the difference that the bed at the front is placed transversely and not lengthwise as in your trailer.
    The only thing I don't like about the 20FB is the fact that it only has one axle. And my question is this: apart from the International model from around 2002 (and probably one of the Safari series), did any other model have a similar system to your trailer or the Bambi/Caravel/(and previously probably also the Flying Cloud) 20 FB and had two axles?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Our trailer with the kitchen layout was only produced as an International in 2002 and 2003. It didn't sell well compared to its sister model the CCD so it was moved to the Safari trim in 2004. We think that lasted until 2006. 2007 saw a 20' Safari with the exact layout as the current 20FB but I believe that was a single axle. From there, it appears things went to the 23' without a 22' or 20' until more recently. We love the 20FB and have said that if ever something catastrophic happened to the Sub, that would be the replacement. For me, the single axle wouldn't be ideal but neither would it be a deal breaker. I've towed over 123,000 miles and have never had a tire deflation or any other tire issue. As such, I don't worry about tire issues. I hope that answers your questions. If not, let us know.

    Bambi and other single axle Airstreams = NG. Ive said before, the aluminum tanks rock!! How do I get the free checklist? Hell, Ill buy one.

      You're in luck! With the launch of our website today we have posted a tab with free downloadable pdf's of our checklists! You can see them at www.luvsubbin.com And we agree that the tanks are sweet. Even if we had to get a new Airstream with the traditional cover, I would retrofit with the polished tanks.
