    Yes it looks like a lot of the body is exposed, but remember, when you're in a combat situation, you first priority is to be out of the line of fire and to not get shot. The plate is for the off chance you do get shot, and that at least you a majority of your vitals are covered

      If you want coverage for your guts and gonads, get a body armor system designed to do so. Don't improperly wear a plate carrier.

    I can hear the “burn table” in the background.
    I can also tell there is not any water under the plate/plasma arc.
    We had a bladder made to raise and lower the water level for different metals and thicknesses. Really cuts down on the smoke.

    I have this plate and use it daily for EDC. I am 5'5" about 155ilbs, and the banshee plate carrier is a bit big. I have the shoulder straps adjusted as close as possible and the rear plate still sits low. Overall it is good construction backed by a lifetime warranty. Too bad it is not made in small to x-large. I guess I am accustomed to my old military plate carrier.

    I'm big enough I have to buy tall shirts. So the 10x12 plate felt small on me. I ended up buying the AR500 Armor® Abdominal Ballistic System. It gives me the kind of coverage I was looking for. The only downside is it tends to flop around so I'm thinking about belting it to my abs.

      War Servent Except they're not. AP .30-06 zips along at 2700 FPS, which is a fair bit slower than 5.56's 3070 fps, but not enough to truly matter when it comes to armor. And you might be mistaken on the threat ratings you talk about. Level III may stop some 5.56 rounds (for example it will not always stop M193, but it will, ironically, stop M855 penetrators.) But level IV armor will pretty readily stop all current loadings of 5.56, with the possible exception of M855A1.

    • @ihatefords1000

      @@evey0259 M855A1 is not AP. InRange tested in and it was slower than regular m193 and m855. They also tested it against russian level 4 plate. The plate laughed in russian.

    • @hangtowngunner218

      I much prefer ceramic/ composite plates. I have both. The only upside to AR500 armor is its not as fragile, and can withstand many more hits.. However Ceramic/ composite places nowadays are not as fragile as people think and will hold up to anything any civilian would do with them. AR500 is also much thinner, however there are quite a few composite armor plates than are much thinner than the old SAPI plates nowadays. The biggest plus with the Composite plates for me was the comfort. They are MUCH lighter, and and much more comfortable to wear. Also, the composite plates are often multi-curve which is extremely difficult to do with AR500 and so they conform much better to the body. I'm almost positive AR500 now has composite plates now as well. If you can afford it, I definitely recommend composite plates. There are level IV plates that are only 3.4 pounds! And they are buoyant for Maritime operations. Being Level IV they will stop an armor piercing 30-06. They are around 400 a plate.

    • @hangtowngunner218
      @hangtowngunner218 8 років тому +1

      My level IV are about 6.4 lbs per plate and are the 10x12 shooters cut. They are a huge improvement over My AR500 plates, especially when worn in a quality carrier like my SKD PIG. They aren't that thick or bulky either. I paid 180 dollars per plate and they were WELL worth it. I keep the AR500 plates in a cheaper carrier as a spare for a buddy or to keep in the trunk for an active shooter situation.

    Do these plates work in Russian plate carriers or just US made ones, sort of need to know ?

    • @berata45
      @berata45 8 років тому +1

      no ESAPI type won't, you need russian defender plates www.ar500armor.com/ar500-armor-defender-level-iii-body-armor-russian-style-plates.html#.V9sIsJMrKRs

    • @mayleacoby208
      @mayleacoby208 8 років тому

      yeah to bad they don't say what vests the plates will work for, i have been looking at the 6B43 plate carrier to go with the 6SH112 vest but i don't know what plates are for what .

    • @berata45
      @berata45 8 років тому

      That's a LBV ain't it? No plates will work with an LBV

    • @mayleacoby208
      @mayleacoby208 8 років тому

      6SH112 just holds ammo,medical,grenades etc you wear the 6sh112 over the 6B43 plate carrier, so you have body armor under your tactical vest, not sure is that makes sense.

    • @berata45
      @berata45 8 років тому

      Ya if your PC under your LBV is made for Russian plates then the link I sent would work, if it's for standard US type they sell those also

    I hate it when i talk about body armor with people and their like "buT wHat If YoU gEt ShOt In tHe lEg?" Well no shit if i get shot in the leg i get shot in the leg. Thats not whats going to kill me fastest in a firefight or some kind of scenario in which im being shot at. The whole reason you dont see people wearing full suits of body armor is because its downright impractical. Its gonna be heavy,hot and uncomfortable.

    • @AR500Armor
      @AR500Armor  2 роки тому +1

      You are correct, however, we would add that you should always have 1-2 tourniquets minimum on your plate carrier.
      This is for the exact reason noted in your comment; you have 2 arms and 2 legs with lots of veins running through them. You can bleed out in 2 minutes flat, and in a situation where someone is shooting at you, it could be hours before the medics can get to you.
      We sell tourniquets and mounting solutions for them on our website and always suggest picking one up ASAP if you don't have one already. www.ar500armor.com/tourniquets-all.html
