Dirge is so freaky looking, and quite a pain to kill as you have to rely on Agro. That damn horse refuses to turn for me when Dirge leaps out of the ground.. xD
Toridori You really did sum him up quite well. Dirge is looking into your soul, as well as making you his next lunch. While I was comfortable with controlling Agro by then, aiming for his eyes was no easy task and the fact he behaves like sand worm, then strikes by leaping out of the sand like a shark, it raises my stress levels. Then add the sound his jaws make! *shiver*
the ones i hated the most were the two bull looking colossus that charged into you. The problem wasnt the difficulty on dodging it, the problem was the fact that if they did hit you, the character would just take a nap and get hit while still napping
There is an easier way to get the 14th to be still. After he losses his armor. If you make him smash into something. He will be temporarily stunned. Then you can get up there and stabby stabby with ease.
Yeah true! I don't think I did it like that when I was 10 years old on the ps2 but on the ps4 I also suddenly realised ''hey, what if I let it bump it's head against something cause apparently it likes to charge into things (and people)". It felt so great to play that game again :')
raged at celosia. always when it attacked me, wander took such a long time to stand up and i had no time to run because he immediately attacked me AGAIN
The same thing happened to me and I raged so much. Once it knocked me over a cliff I could stop the loop but the minute I tried to go back to grab the fire, it trapped me back into the loop even though I tried to jump and roll out of the way. It took me 3 tries to get the jump on it's back too and had to let it kill me to start over
Same happened to me but I learned that if you mash buttons relentlessly when knocked out you actually get up quicker. Too bad the devs dont tell anyone
Wander doesn't have a good mattress, the service at the temple is just awful. It's seems whenever he fights some colossi and gets hit he just wants to get some sleep but then remembers that his housekeeping service was due later
Regarding Dirge: When speed is required, TRUST. THE. HORSE. The matter is much simplified when you believe, rightly or wrongly, that Agro has enough common sense not to run full tilt into a damn wall. Focus on poking the sand worm of Dune in the eye with a sharp stick, and leave navigation to the mare, she does good at it...... usually. Don't try to steer, let her handle that, you handle the colossus. Still scary as hell, though.
Was that the first game with intelligent horse AI regarding basic pathfinding and obstacle avoidance? I remember my jaw dropping when Argo could navigate over the bridges and through the crevices, and eventually finding that she'd simply run in circles around the sides of the cave without manual intervention.
OOFERZ I SALUTE on the part where u have to go from hiding place to hiding place before u go into the hole that leads under Malus I kept getting knocked into the crevice and I ALMOST RAGE QUIT. Another hard part was getting up onto his shoulder
@@Deltalini the auto correction messed up my sentences. understandable now: you can stab his hand so that he keeps it still, then it is easier to shoot on his shoulder.
16:45 WHAT?! You had to smack it in the teeth?!?! Instead of waiting 5 minutes at a time for it to get close enough to a platform? Come on bro... And Malus was the most rage inducing for me. Never could make that jump from his right hand to his shoulder
Late reply, but when you're on his right hand, if you stab it, he'll be stunned for a moment, just long enough for you to fire an arrow on his left shoulder. He'll just move his hand to that shoulder, so you don't even have to jump
@@Dzware92 you've got to be fucking kidding me. You can stab his hand!? I spent like an hour and half last week trying to quickly shoot his shoulder, failing, and having to climb all the way back up again.
Shaggy Fox i was one hit from killing him and I fell of his head. The instant I stood up he shot and killed me instantly. I had to get a new controller.
Same. I just played the ps4 remaster about a week ago. I spent about an hour and a half late at night just trying to get to its head. I couldn't stand on his hand long enough to shoot an arrow at his shoulder. I eventually just rage quit and tried again the next morning. Still took another 30 minutes I think.
When I fought Dirge, instead of riding around on Agro I just stood on the rocks trying to find the moment to attack (like you do with Hydrus). And then I though that maybe Dirge is blind, but can feel the vibration, which makes sense, considering it's "swimming" underground most of the time. So I was just sitting there, shooting arrows for a good 5 minutes to lure him out of the sand and hop on its back, before realising that i'm banging my head against a wall and I need to try something else.
I just finished the game an hour ago (the PS4 version) and I almost completely agree with that list, to be honest Dirge gave me a really hard time because at first I thought that I had to hit the glowing interior of it's mouth, considering that usually shooting the eyes don't do much on other Colossi Also... I feel incredibly dumb right now... this video just made me realize what rising the platforms is for in the Argus arena, personally, I climbed it's legs to jump on it's arms to then jump on the walls in an extremely long, random and painful process... it took me like 2 hours to take him down and now I realize how stupid I am...
@@ToridoriGaming haha thanks, tbh I was so frustrated during the fight against Argus because I thought it was just poorly designed.. ^^' yeah don't worry the third one didn't took me too long because I was just extremely lucky, I was running around the arena trying to figure out what Dormin was trying to tell me, and at some point he happened to hit the iron circle on the ground (that I didn't noticed at all) and I understood, but it could've last forever if it didn't happen randomly
Here's my list 16. Valus/1st 15. Quadratus/2nd 14. Kuromori/8th 13. Barba/6th 12. Gaius/3rd 11.Hydrus/7th 10.Phalanx/13th The longest but I found easy except for jumping on her wing 9.Avion/5th 8.Celosia/11th colossus Not as bad as Cenobia because it's not all about jumping 7. Malus/16th I found really easy after I knew how to do it 6. Dirge/10th 5.Pelagia/12th Long to figure out but not hard because I swam around him the first time 4.Phaera/4th I found the hardest to get on because it's not consistent. Btw might not of spelt that one correctly 3.Bassaran/9th Hard to climb on because you can't grab onto him & really annoying to get on 2.Cenobia/14th This one is so much worse that Celosia is because you need every jump to be perfect Or you're dead 1.Argus/15th The most confusing & I still have a hard time hitting him once I get on him because Wander is sooooo sensitive over vibrations & keeps getting interrupted.
I played this game at a time I didn’t speak English. Whenever I heard a “heavenly voice” it was just another part of background music. And boy it was hard! I just could not figure out a thing. But after much trial and error, I figured out what the reflecting sword did, and it became much easier. I enjoyed all the adrenaline this game put me through! Good times!
Best game of all time indeed! So much mysteries, but once you know the technique and approaches on how to defeat a colossus, you just wish for a partial amnesia
Zach Gaming/Testing I agree but I beat a few of these in different ways shown here. For example, tooth head guy in the lake; I would wait at the shrine until he swam past and then climb up his back, the same with dogo of destruction, I would get on the final platform and then as soon as it's armour was broke, jump straight on and end the fight a few seconds later before it ran around the city.
You don't have to let it run around the city (if you ever think about doing the time attacks on normal and hard). Just make it charge its head against some pillars or stones or anything you can find where it can make contact. It will lie on the ground for some time and you can do stabby stabby. Repeat and done. As for Pelagia (tooth head guy), just stay as close as you can to its body. It will help you a bit to swim to its back because it will push you in the direction its turning ;) but yeah you can defeat the colossi in different ways :) Gaius can be beaten in 3 different ways for example. It's such an awesome game!
I felt so bad killing Argus because every step of the way he was helping you kill him; tips the platform, knocks the steps down, breaks the bridge, drops his weapon and never picks it back up. Poor guy.
I remember fighting Phalanx and i was getting frustrated because i missed the wing jump a couple of times in a row. So the next time i went up to Phalanx on Agro i ran straight into the wing and jumped, i missed and fell over into the sand but he straightened his wings as i had jumped and picked up Agro and took him away. He balanced on the wing for a good 8 seconds and then tumbled from super high up. Went from staring gob smacked at it to losing my shit laughing but also made me calm down cause i realised it can always get worse haha
The weird alien looking one near the end of the list. That one i solved my climbing his back insteed of the face, Its interesting how many ways their are to climbing a colosuss
I love this game! And it's great to know more people like it as much as me, even though I don't agree with all of your rankings, this only proves how great this game is, cause it's always a different experience for everyone. Personally, I don't find Hydrus and Pelagia that hard, however, Basaran and Kuromori are a pain, but at least we both agree Argus is the toughest of the bunch
I tell you what, after I played the hd remake I wanted to revise my list and put Kuromori closer to the top. I don't remember it being so tough but I really struggled with it this time round. Time attack had me almost throwing my controller! 😂
Toridori well, It doesn't instakill you on the remake either, It just drains your health really fast, you can get out with standing 1 or 2 seconds on It If you get out fast
phalanx, tooth head, or argus because it took me ages as a kid. I like pretty much all of them except for malus, can't stand him. He's only good at face value and if you've beaten him once the subsequent attempts just aren't fun they're tedious.
I never once even tried to grab Pelagia's head, didn't even know you could and make it up. I would always just swim around to its back after it gets slightly tired from shooting laser beams at Wander
Avion has to be one of my favorite colossi due to the appearance and set-up of the battle, but it is over fairly quickly. Phaedra always looked like a llama to me, and was probably one of the hardest fights for me because I had no idea what I was supposed to do to beat it. In terms of combat difficulty, Phaedra isn't hard at all, but in terms of patience and figuring out what it is you are supposed to be doing I think it is quite tricky for such an early colossi. With Gias, I had the fortunate/unfortunate blessing of him accidentally hitting the disk on his very first swing. I thought to myself, "Huh... that's all I had to do to knock off his armor? Just let him swing?" However, I didn't know that he hit the disk, so in future playthroughs I got super frustrated when fighting him because I had no idea as to why his armor wasn't falling off on the first swing. It took me a while to realize what had happened. Dirge: Yep, same situation as me. I had NO IDEA you could aim behind on Agro, in fact, I'm pretty sure I got through the whole game without ever needing to shoot an arrow while riding Agro. When fighting Basaran, I'm pretty sure I just shot arrows on foot and hopped onto Agro to close the distance. This means Dirge took an insane amount of time to defeat because I assumed the way to defeat him must not be related to riding Agro and shooting arrows. Imagine my surprise the first time I turned around and saw a pair of eyes...
Am I the only one who didn't really have too much trouble with Hydrus? It took me a while (because it takes ages to swim up after me), but the fight was so cool I didn't really mind. I also don't think I ever died on it. Overall, it's one of my favourites, after Avion, Phalanx, and Phaedra.
On the HD remake Hydrus was a lot easier in my opinion. Before, I struggled to get its attention and it always swam past me without surfacing. They seem to have fixed its attention span now. :)
I haven't played either of the remakes; it was pretty easy on PS2 in my opinion. Maybe I'm just superhuman (though probably not, as I had to get help with finding my way to Pelagia).
Personally I love Hydrus. Third favourite behind Avion and Phalanx, probably because of it's design, the concept and the atmosphere. I found it pretty fun too.
I think Cenobia is my favourite design wise. I really dig that dog-ish lion bull appearance. But its true, it would have been cool to interact with it more and killing it just feels bad. He looks more like something I'd like to ride into battle rather that hack into pieces. But my favorite battle is definitely the one with Dirge, closely followed by Celosia. Dirge has an almost horror element to it and I adore it. (My second favourite regarding design is Argus)
I agree, Cenobia has such a great design! When you make it knock down the pillar and it shakes its head in discomfort... makes me feel sorry for it. :(
When i was fighting celosia i got stuck in that stupid animation loop about 10 times. Also had my darkness too low and got trapped in a hallway while fighting and got lost. Honestly was screaming at the TV to stop headbutting me . Also when i was fighting filanks i shot the airbags from the station and got really lucky. I was so proud of myself
I think u might be remembering a little wrong. The last colossus was a lot more difficult than u described. It was probably the 2nd hardest, and pelagia was quite easy. Fo pelagia, I just swam around it.
By last Colossus do you mean Valus? If so I thought he was really easy, and still is even in the HD remake. Pelagia was quite easy this time around, but that's because I also knew of the swimming around technique. As a new player, I had no clue. :)
I was asking if he meant last Colossus as in the first to appear on the list, hence why I said Valus. But looking back yeah, I see he meant last Colossus as in final one of the game, aka Malus. I know the names off by heart! :)
A lot of people don't like fighting Basaran, but it's one of my favorites. I love dodging those lightning blasts and using spacial skills and timing on Argo to get Basaran over the geysers.
Phalanx is my favourite too. He's majestic. I would spend hours just sitting on Agro and watching him fly around. Also, i love the vibrations they introduced with the remake. Now he tries to make you fall by making this noise and shaking like no other colossus does.
Toridori Oh right, The Opened Way is legendary. Tbh i think Sotc's soundtrack is heavily underrated, there are so many good themes. A Despair Filled Farewell, Revived Power, Demise of the Ritual which is still one of the best final boss themes in any game
The Epilogue theme is beautiful too, very bittersweet. And if you want something more hopeful there's always The Sunlit Earth. Kow Otani is a genius with music!
Phaedra is my most favorite because when i first fought him i got terrified, but now i see him as a cute colossus because rather than killing him i play hide n seek with him very fun but made me cry because I had to murder him
A lot of people did on their first playthrough. Because it can genuinely just decide to kill you. But somehow the colossus that's never killed anyone made it into the top 5.
my best friend bought the game and divided with me the account u.u , can you share it your facebook account with me , i would love to become your friend :3 mine its facebook.com/3750gustavo
First time Argus I got a glitch that I've still never been able to repeat and managed to climb to the bridge without him knocking the other pieces down. It was infuriating because I didn't even realize I'd done something unintended when he broke the bridge and I fell to the ground again 🤣
Even tho i have a huge fear of water, the scariest colossus to me was number 10. When youre on agro running looking back just to see his orange eyes starring at you chasing you in the sand.
Once you get on top just hide and let it use it's laser attack once, then immediately shoot an arrow at it. It will rear itself up onto the platform right away, the entire fight can be done in less than 6 minutes easily.
i was very late to the party with this game but i've been playing the remake for a while and it's absolutely breathtaking. also when i saw phalanx for the first time, it scared the absolute HELL out of me just because of its sheer size. i'm trying to spoil as little as possible for myself so i haven't seen colossus 15 and 16 yet, but i've heard that 16 is huge.
@@ToridoriGaming just beat the game yesterday! after beating it i instantly came back for more and beat like the first 6 colossus normally and in the time trials lol
I always hated Hydrus! I have an intense fear of incredibly deep water. I have an intense fear of HUGE things in deep water. And to get Hydrus to surface, you have to essentially fish for him, using yourself as bait! *Shudders* Only reason I don't replay Shadow of the Colossus much, despite loving the game
KaoticKanine Understandable! I for myself am fascinated by deep waters and giant creatures like Hydrus. Thats also why he is one of my favorite colossi!
If you get someone to do that one, and you kill all but #16, you can travel to the colossi remains and fight all of them countless times in cinematic mode.
Dirge was by far the hardest for me. Something about the whack controls and trying to not run into a wall. Dirge also being my favorite despite being the most frustrating and terrifying.
The turtle was all buggy on me and never came after me, endlessly shooting laser balls at me. It took me 35 mins to even get him into position for me to shoot his legs. I was getting mad but at last I was able to kill him after 43 mins of pain and agony.
I know that this video is 5 years old but I wasnt finding anyone mention that Pelagia has a massive back patch of moss/fur that becomes this walk way that goes to his "teeth" starting from his tail. The fight you described is a nightmare, but the fight is so much easier when you just climb up his back and guide him by "hand" using his "teeth"
Fun fact about the final colossus (or maybe just a glitch). When you're under it's skirt, if you shoot an exploding arrow at it's crotch (really mature I know), it will fire one of it's beams at you even though it shouldn't be able to hit you since you are underneath it. I have no clue if it was just a glitch with my game or if it was intentional but it would happen to me every time I shot an arrow up there.
Pelagia is my all time favorite colossus, it’s just so alien-looking compared to the other colossi. The mechanic of “driving” a colossus is so neat, and I love its little belly!
For me, Avion was one of the hardest just because of the water, I get that when you fall off of her and there's no water you would die but the swimming is just too slow, she is a cool Colossus and one of my favorite but she can be a pain to fight sometimes, 10. Hardest for me, Pheadra, yes she is a very peaceful but can be very difficult, first of all her animation takes forever but another thing is she looses interest in you, so you have to keep throwing your poky sticks at her to get her to pay attention, she's the first one where you truly have to use the environment to defeat her and it's pretty good, but one thing, how are beginners going to know at first sight since all you had to do so far and just climb up and stabbed it with your sword. 9. hardest for me, Phalanx, no it's not because I kept falling off her wing, it's just that when you shoot at her egg sacks it take forever for you to actually hit it, she's a good Colossus but could've been better. 8. Dirge, okay, so pretty simple, ride your horse, shoot his eyes, climb on his back, and stibby stabby, WRONG, not only does Agro refuse to avoid, well, anything, but must I say again, aim is terrible no matter what you do, but here's one thing, how are beginners supposed to know what to do, Dormin's hint first hit doesn't tell you anything so it doesn't even count as a hint :/
Yeah I agree about the swimming part, it can be pretty boring to fall off and swim slowly back. Especially as that early in the game you don't have a lot of stamina so you're probably going to fall off multiple times! Phaedra was a big pita for me this time around on PS4. I shot arrows and whistled like crazy, but it still wouldn't come over and look into the burial mound. In the end for hard time attack I jumped from Agro and landed on its leg, then just climbed up from there. Phalanx's air sacs can be a pain to hit! My trick when Phalanx comes back out of the sand for a second time is to shoot the egg sacs as it twists. When it's in the ground if you hold down the button to focus on the Colossus you can see where it will come back out. Then you can just ride up and wait and start shooting. :)
actually on dirge the hint is what made me understand it told me my legs couldn't carry me so i though well gotta use the horse so i started to run from it with the horse then i noticed the HUGE eyes, then im like ok let's try shooting them! *bam* OH SHIT IT WORKED!
I completely agree with you on dirge. The hint that told you to aim for it's eyes was terrible. Since I knew there were only a couple safe spots I stood at one of them and just tried shooting the spots where I would think Dirge's eyes would be under the sand. When it wasn't working for a good 5 or 10 min I had no idea what to do. But once I figured out what to do it was still really hard because the mechanics for Agro and the camera are horrible. Neither would cooperate. It was the only challenging colossus for me and the only one I died from aside from one other. Argus was only challenging for me because it had some absurd solutions.
"get Basaran over a geezer and wait for it to erupt to throw it off balance" That does sound troubling, especially since there's no guarantee a geezer will ever erupt anything.
I don't find Argus hard. He's annoying to figure out but once you have the process he's pretty simple overall. Malus and Pelagia probably have made me rage the most. Facing Malus on time attack made me very upset and I was actually screaming at my TV "I'm so close! Don't take this from me you son of a bitch!"
Yah I think different people will have an easier time with different Colossi. Some people say Dirge was a nightmare but I thought it made sense first time around. 😁
Honestly this game on the whole scares scares the crap out of me. Just the of those behemoths being *aware* that you are there. It's kind of a meta fear. The idea of a colossal monster seeing me when it might just pass by just triggers a fear reaction in me.
Where do you get the titles for the bosses like "avion, bird of prey" I'm looking all over their wiki pages and I can't find it anywhere, or are you just making them up?
Playing this game on hardcore and DEFINITELY with time trials you get to really experience how frustrating the Colossi can be to defeat. And I was so surprised to see Barba and Gaius so low on the list, as the biggest challenge in this game isn't navigating... it's getting wander to plant his feet down
Wander's motor skills are on par with a toddler, he's terrible! But I didn't struggle with Barba that much. And Gaius on hard mode is definitely tough, but on normal play when you can take your time I don't think he's too bad. :)
They feel about the same, except it may feel smoother due to better frames. I think the developers of the PS4 version deliberately kept in the clunkiness of Wander, Agro and the Colossi's movements. :)
Lejend Dairy he's my 2nd favorite design wise. The battle is really cool though because it takes time and patience but is not as repetitive as Cenobia's. My favourite battle though is the one with Dirge. I can power through it in less than 3 minutes but I never get bored.
I could never beat malus. Also, dirge I found nearly impossible due to terrible horse controls and a weird bow glitch while riding the horse where you keep the bow drawn for ages and can’t move.
I'm glad it's not just me who couldn't control Agro very well in the Dirge fight! Why can't she have a few brain cells and steer herself away from walls and rocks? I know exactly the glitch you're talking about too, because the same happened to me on the Phalanx fight. I'd shoot the air sac, then Wander would just continue staring up into the sky with his bow drawn, even after I let go of those controls...
On the hard difficulty it's so so hard to get to him while trying to dodge his fireballs, 7 out of 10 fireballs at least hit me lol And when I finally managed to climb onto his head he didn't stop shaking his head
"This is my favorite game of all time."
Every battle: "I fucking hate this battle and wish I could skip it."
That's how I express my love, through hate!
That's so true for all of us 😂

My take is that the first time you fight every colossus, it's magical and awesome, later when you know how it works, it isn't as fun.
Yes, this!
Hardest for me was the 17th. Couldn't even find it.
I used to have dreams about a 17th Colossus, when I was super addicted to SotC!
Maybe in the next Ueda game.

There is an easier way to get the 14th to be still. After he losses his armor. If you make him smash into something. He will be temporarily stunned. Then you can get up there and stabby stabby with ease.
I actually did this on the PS4 version, never realised you could until now! :D
Toridori Ikr it makes it so much easier to beat. I cant wait to replay it all on PS4.
Yeah true! I don't think I did it like that when I was 10 years old on the ps2 but on the ps4 I also suddenly realised ''hey, what if I let it bump it's head against something cause apparently it likes to charge into things (and people)". It felt so great to play that game again :')
I literally just made him bang into that stone fastest and easiest way
@@ToridoriGaming didnt u have to retreat to high ground once?
raged at celosia. always when it attacked me, wander took such a long time to stand up and i had no time to run because he immediately attacked me AGAIN
I always thought that was a fuck up on the dev's part; like how am I supposed to get away if every time Wander stands up he gets smacked again!?
Toridori RIIIGHT THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
First that I can remember, yeah. Horses always controlled like motorcycles in any game I can remember prior.
Basaran
I just did a playthrough on ps4 and have to disagree with you. Aggro ran straight into the wall and dirge got me
Jacob Peterman straight into a wall will break your run, just don’t run straight into a wall and it’ll gradually turn with the wall

And Malus was the most rage inducing for me. Never could make that jump from his right hand to his shoulder
LiterallyReal oh my god, I almost screamed when she said that you can hit them, i also thought you just had to wait

Wow, 3 years later and still replying to comments. 😊
Malus was the only colossai that had me raging
Shaggy Fox UGH SAME I WAS YELLING AT THE TV
Shaggy Fox i was one hit from killing him and I fell of his head. The instant I stood up he shot and killed me instantly. I had to get a new controller.
The shaking, though 😔
Too bad he's one of my favs
I tried to wait until it comes out of the ground and grab onto it's back like Hydrus and go under the sand (I was an idiot)
I just finished the game an hour ago (the PS4 version)
and I almost completely agree with that list, to be honest Dirge gave me a really hard time because at first I thought that I had to hit the glowing interior of it's mouth, considering that usually shooting the eyes don't do much on other Colossi
Also...
You're not dumb, the Colossi can be very confusing to work out. When I first played it took me an hour to work out how to climb the third Colossus! 😂
@@ToridoriGaming haha thanks, tbh I was so frustrated during the fight against Argus because I thought it was just poorly designed.. ^^'
yeah don't worry the third one didn't took me too long because I was just extremely lucky,
I was running around the arena trying to figure out what Dormin was trying to tell me, and at some point he happened to hit the iron circle on the ground (that I didn't noticed at all) and I understood, but it could've last forever if it didn't happen randomly
Honestly I was kind of shocked when pelagia was number two on the list. Were super easy kill for me
BRUH, DONT FEEL DUMB! THATS MAD IMPRESSIVE MY GUY! I've played the game for years and the climbing mechanics aren't easy to deal with, GOOD ON YA
You're not alone. Took me a minute to figure out what to do.
Haven't played this gem in so long. It'll be a blast experiencing this all over again :D

Good times!
Wait he speaks English? He must have a very rough accent
@@lucstarobb6015 I don't think he does lmao. The only English I ran into was from reading the subtitles
Jackie Wallace They don’t speak English lol. Team Ico game characters speak a fictional language
Best game of all time indeed! So much mysteries, but once you know the technique and approaches on how to defeat a colossus, you just wish for a partial amnesia
I wish the same too, SotC is definitely a game I'd love to experience as new again. :)
@@ToridoriGaming have you noticed that celosia and cenobia are the most armoured of the colossi
When she said "with a great big bushy beard" it sounds like the Sargent in hot fuzz. 1:49
I'm in a perspeptive mood
I felt so bad killing Argus because every step of the way he was helping you kill him; tips the platform, knocks the steps down, breaks the bridge, drops his weapon and never picks it back up. Poor guy.
"Kill me now, just end my suffering."
Agro got so tired of you messing up the jump she decided to take on the Colossus herself. :D
2:16 That's a good Hot Fuzz reference, I can't believe nobody else commented on it.
Them bushy beards! :D
The weird alien looking one near the end of the list.
That one i solved my climbing his back insteed of the face, Its interesting how many ways their are to climbing a colosuss
And ways I still don't know, even after nearly 15 years!

Which colossus?
Pinguinho 767 12th colossus
Yeah I always swim round to his back.
Toridori right? Earlier today I was trying HTA with kuromori and I just couldn't do It
I'm sure I don't remember Kuromori's poison insta-killing either. On the PS2 version didn't it just sap your health?
Toridori well, It doesn't instakill you on the remake either, It just drains your health really fast, you can get out with standing 1 or 2 seconds on It If you get out fast
When I was playing against Kuromori on HTA, I stood in the gas for about two seconds and I died even with 3/4 of my health bar still full. :(
you have a nice voice, which is shockingly rare in in youtube voiceover stuffs. Also I agree on most colossus which helped earn a subscriber.
Thank you Hugo! Which is your favourite Colossus? :)
phalanx, tooth head, or argus because it took me ages as a kid. I like pretty much all of them except for malus, can't stand him. He's only good at face value and if you've beaten him once the subsequent attempts just aren't fun they're tedious.
I don't like Malus either, his laser bolts are so irritating and he isn't much of a fight himself - a shame given he's the final one!
it really is a shame, argus would've been the better final one because you had to work it out properly.
10:01 Alternate Strat: Hit Celosia with an arrow and have it run back to the original fighting area. Not as quick, but it can be much more consistent.
That's a good idea!
Phalanx is probably the most favorited colossus because She/He doesn’t attack you and doesn’t go hard on you.
And it's so pretty to watch ❤️
I never once even tried to grab Pelagia's head, didn't even know you could and make it up. I would always just swim around to its back after it gets slightly tired from shooting laser beams at Wander
Gonna be my first time playing this game in a few hours when it finishes downloading. Can't wait!
What did you think of it? 😁
Canobia is SOOO hard he wount stop moving and loops his attacks and I'm like HOOOOWWWW
Oh god the eyes. I remember my first time turning around and seeing them right on our tail. I about crapped myself.
I like the idea Phaedra is a llama, makes the fight all the more hilarious for some reason. 😂
Honorable Mentions: *Dirge’s Death Screen.*
Pelagia is in a weird place though so it's understandable!
Personally I love Hydrus. Third favourite behind Avion and Phalanx, probably because of it's design, the concept and the atmosphere. I found it pretty fun too.
Phalanx was my least favourite I just think she’s so bland
Eugenia OL my favorite is phalanx since it’s the biggest one and it is peaceful but menacing at the same time.
8:24 - That is the one colossus I always forget about.
When i was fighting celosia i got stuck in that stupid animation loop about 10 times.
Also had my darkness too low and got trapped in a hallway while fighting and got lost.
Honestly was screaming at the TV to stop headbutting me
.
The last colossus is called *Malus* not Valus!
*Valus* is the first colossus not the last one.
Get yo facts right!
I was asking if he meant last Colossus as in the first to appear on the list, hence why I said Valus. But looking back yeah, I see he meant last Colossus as in final one of the game, aka Malus. I know the names off by heart! :)
Oh i see. Excuse me outburst then... sorry ^^´´´´
It's fine :D
A lot of people don't like fighting Basaran, but it's one of my favorites. I love dodging those lightning blasts and using spacial skills and timing on Argo to get Basaran over the geysers.
Phalanx is my favourite too. He's majestic. I would spend hours just sitting on Agro and watching him fly around. Also, i love the vibrations they introduced with the remake. Now he tries to make you fall by making this noise and shaking like no other colossus does.
I like to climb up his nose and see how long I can stay on it. Feels like I'm riding my own personal Colossus into battle! :D
Toridori And there's Counterattack, probably the best music theme in the game
Yes, love that theme! My other favourite is The Opened Way. :)
Phaedra is my most favorite because when i first fought him i got terrified, but now i see him as a cute colossus because rather than killing him i play hide n seek with him very fun but made me cry because I had to murder him
and yet, i had a really hard time beating kuromori XD
Me too lol
A lot of people did on their first playthrough. Because it can genuinely just decide to kill you. But somehow the colossus that's never killed anyone made it into the top 5.
Malus was my favorite, he’s just soo cool. And that long sky thing that is your favorite I almost despise if it didn’t look cool
i was searching for shadow of colossus videos of the last 24h and found your video, i love it, subscribed.

Brokenhorn get it before it gets more expensive
First time Argus I got a glitch that I've still never been able to repeat and managed to climb to the bridge without him knocking the other pieces down. It was infuriating because I didn't even realize I'd done something unintended when he broke the bridge and I fell to the ground again 🤣
Thank you for the video! I love SOTC and I hope there is a real sequel
Thank you for watching 😎
Even tho i have a huge fear of water, the scariest colossus to me was number 10. When youre on agro running looking back just to see his orange eyes starring at you chasing you in the sand.
He's certainly terrifying to behold!

Pelagua is definitely the hardest when you play the time attack challenge on hard mode. There’s no real way to get the AI to show it’s vital
Pelagia don't wanna play today. 😂
Once you get on top just hide and let it use it's laser attack once, then immediately shoot an arrow at it. It will rear itself up onto the platform right away, the entire fight can be done in less than 6 minutes easily.
MercuryHg34 see this is what I needed where were you 2 year ago
i was very late to the party with this game but i've been playing the remake for a while and it's absolutely breathtaking. also when i saw phalanx for the first time, it scared the absolute HELL out of me just because of its sheer size.
i'm trying to spoil as little as possible for myself so i haven't seen colossus 15 and 16 yet, but i've heard that 16 is huge.
16 is indeed huge, biggest one in the game in terms of height!
@@ToridoriGaming just beat the game yesterday! after beating it i instantly came back for more and beat like the first 6 colossus normally and in the time trials lol

KaoticKanine
Understandable! I for myself am fascinated by deep waters and giant creatures like Hydrus. Thats also why he is one of my favorite colossi!
If you get someone to do that one, and you kill all but #16, you can travel to the colossi remains and fight all of them countless times in cinematic mode.
This is really well made.
I'm only halfway through but I want to compliment your beautiful speaking voice. And nice Hot Fuzz reference.
Thank you and yay, another Hot Fuzz fan! \o/
Dirge was by far the hardest for me. Something about the whack controls and trying to not run into a wall. Dirge also being my favorite despite being the most frustrating and terrifying.
I wish Agro could be a little smarter and not run into a wall on that fight.. 😂
The only thing I disagree with is Phalanx's placement. I think it was easier than where you put it
The turtle was all buggy on me and never came after me, endlessly shooting laser balls at me. It took me 35 mins to even get him into position for me to shoot his legs. I was getting mad but at last I was able to kill him after 43 mins of pain and agony.
Daaamn, I took 2/3 hours killing Argus. He's the hardest colossi, than the rest.
*shakes fist at Argus*
2/3 hours? Wth!? I finished this game in less than 3 hours for the "speed demon" and "last man standing" trophies.

Amazing list!!!
I loved!, just like I loved this game
Thank you Rebeca 😊
Fun fact about the final colossus (or maybe just a glitch). When you're under it's skirt, if you shoot an exploding arrow at it's crotch (really mature I know), it will fire one of it's beams at you even though it shouldn't be able to hit you since you are underneath it.
I have no clue if it was just a glitch with my game or if it was intentional but it would happen to me every time I shot an arrow up there.
Oh yessss I used to do that all the time, looks very dodgy... 😂
Why are shooting at his crotch
"in order to bring his dead girlfriend back to life" ...wait a moment! I always thought, that was his sister! For 15 years I have been an idiot :'D
Tbf it could have worked either way, they never really show the relationship they have 😂
I think the game's cover said it was his lover
I thought she was his mother.
kingslayer 101 spoiler alert😂😂
"get Basaran over a geezer and wait for it to erupt to throw it off balance"
That does sound troubling, especially since there's no guarantee a geezer will ever erupt anything.
At barba nice hot fuzz reference
A great big bushy beard!
I love your opinions. This video was really well made.
Malus was a bitch, gosh I hated him. If I rewrote this I'd move him to number 1... 😂
Hydras is pretty difficult the first time. But after that, it's a total piece of cake
Ya I can get it killed in one go now. Watching my husband fight it for the first time, however... 😂
+@@ToridoriGaming Congratulations on getting married!
1:49 I like the Hot Fuzz reference.
Thank you! Nobody ever mentions it. xD
Argus finally being recognised for *something* warmed my heart. :)
The poor fella. Doesn't help it's the 4th time you come across a humanoid Colossus, so I imagine a lot of people were tired of them by that point.. xD
For me hydrous was really easy idk it just made perfect sense
Yah I think different people will have an easier time with different Colossi. Some people say Dirge was a nightmare but I thought it made sense first time around. 😁
I miss the game, people doesn't make a content about it in 2021 anymore, Respect Nomad
Bassaran is just Quadratus with extra steps.
Had sudden flashbacks to Rick and Morty - "That's just slavery with extra steps."
@@ToridoriGaming you know it dog
Honestly this game on the whole scares scares the crap out of me. Just the of those behemoths being *aware* that you are there. It's kind of a meta fear. The idea of a colossal monster seeing me when it might just pass by just triggers a fear reaction in me.
And those cold, unblinking eyes...
Argus hard mode time attack.
fml
Not to mention, Basaran is SUPER COOL looking, and his stomp attack is possibly the most intense stomp attack in the game.
Wait the 2nd ranked colossus was meant to be beat like that? I just swam behind it as it turns super slow 😂
7:23
Yeah, my reaction of seeing Dirge was "Where is Burt Gummer when you need him?"
Also that Game over screen of his....jeez.
Burt Gummer is a legend!
Where do you get the titles for the bosses like "avion, bird of prey" I'm looking all over their wiki pages and I can't find it anywhere, or are you just making them up?
That's the nicknames the Japanese developers gave them. You can find them on the Team Ico wiki. :)
I agree, Gaia just took me 2 and half hours on hard mode first try.
He was the only one that took me that long.
He took me a while but not as long. On the other hand, Colossus like Pelagia took me forever for some reason!
I just hope the Colossi and Wander control better on the PS4
They feel about the same, except it may feel smoother due to better frames. I think the developers of the PS4 version deliberately kept in the clunkiness of Wander, Agro and the Colossi's movements. :)
In my opinion barba should be far in the list. That bastard does a ton of damage
Only if it hits you. :D
I don't like big scary things chasing me, so I had a tough time getting to that place, after that the fight was easy
speaking in 2019 and the remaster is stunningly beautiful
Argos is definitely my favorite
What do you like about that one in particular? :)
I prefer Sainsburys myself.
Tee hee!
Lejend Dairy he's my 2nd favorite design wise. The battle is really cool though because it takes time and patience but is not as repetitive as Cenobia's. My favourite battle though is the one with Dirge. I can power through it in less than 3 minutes but I never get bored.
Dirge's leap out of the sand terrifies me every single time!
I spent at LEAST 15 minutes just trying to get on top of the second colossus
I could never beat malus. Also, dirge I found nearly impossible due to terrible horse controls and a weird bow glitch while riding the horse where you keep the bow drawn for ages and can’t move.
I'm glad it's not just me who couldn't control Agro very well in the Dirge fight! Why can't she have a few brain cells and steer herself away from walls and rocks? I know exactly the glitch you're talking about too, because the same happened to me on the Phalanx fight. I'd shoot the air sac, then Wander would just continue staring up into the sky with his bow drawn, even after I let go of those controls...
Awesome! I believe that barba, avion, and the 2nd to last one is so hard
I love the say you say "great big bushy beard"
then you should watch hot fuzz
You have a stellar voice for video narration! This channel needs to blow up.
I'm actually embarrassed looking back on this video because I sound so strange, but I suppose nobody likes how they sound! 😂
Kuromori is my favourite colossus.
He's nasty in the remake, kept killing me and actually filled me with a sense of dread. D:
@@ToridoriGaming i like his battle music . And i think the idea for a geko like colossus that can kill you with lazer bolts with gas is very cool
Agreed he has a badass theme, so creepy!
I'm so addicted to this game, I explore more than play to try and find bizarre secrets.
It is fun! I love to relax and explore the wilderness. 😊
the 16th colossus made me rage quit the game.
*clap* *clap* shame.
I couldn't get onto it's stupid hand and when I got to it's head it wouldn't freaking stand still
@@logansnarrations2707 i rage quit because i fell from the map
On the hard difficulty it's so so hard to get to him while trying to dodge his fireballs, 7 out of 10 fireballs at least hit me lol
And when I finally managed to climb onto his head he didn't stop shaking his head
13:28 fun fact, the bolts he shoots are actually homing and they track you as they fly
Avion is the best boss battle in history of gaming
Avion launched me flipping from one wing to grab onto the other wing craziest thing to happen to me in the whole game
Actually, I see the speedrunners doing this all the time. I can barely walk across the wings without falling off. This is insane to watch.
