  • Hello all! Apologies for being gone so long - UA-cam gets put on hold when I'm working on gallery shows. I recently bought the "Rebecca Green" Holbein paint set and wanted to give some of the colors a try. I love the color choices she made, and will probably be doing a more in-depth review on my Patreon this month :) I offer videos like this on my Patreon! I also do graphite drawing videos, oil painting videos, and palette mixing videos! I also changed my pricing back in Feb. to be more approachable : ) Thank you all so much for watching, and feel free to ask any questions in the comments!

    I enjoyed this video and learned some new techniques that I'm so excited to try them all💟
    How do you keep your paintings from damage...?
    Do you use watercolor paper for all of your paintings...?
    Do you use different tones of pencils for your sketches, or is it just one...?
    I really like your painting and your creative using of colors😍
    Thank you very much🍀

    The final result is stunning but it looks quite magical and ethereal around the 6:00 minute mark too 💕

    Amazing work! 👏🏽🤘🏽 I’m about to jump into gouache for the first time and thought of relying on color pencils for lines and some details! Would you be able to go back in and correct color pencil lines with opaque layers of gouache? Since color pencils are wax based and the water would probably bead off? 🤔

    Loved this! Really admire your art and your style. I am curious why you applied the teal over the yellowish/brownish hair around the 9minute mark--was that planned or something you decided to do later in the process? Does the teal help enhance the brown color? (Just learning!)

    • @kelseyjbeckett
      @kelseyjbeckett  3 роки тому +6

      Thank you so much 🥰 as for the teal - originally I envisioned her having teal
      Hair. However, once I put the color down, I didn’t like it. I painted over it with that fawn brown after that. I do like that there are some spots where you can still see green - it ended up being a nice effect! :)

    Can I ask why the diff brands colored pencils ? Is it a technique thing or just a whatever’s handy? Crayola as good as prismacolor as good as fabercas ?

    • @kelseyjbeckett
      @kelseyjbeckett  3 роки тому +8

      Some colored pencils are better than others for certain areas. For example - a prismacolor premier would not be good for lines ((like in the hair)) because they are very soft and don’t stay sharp.However, they are great for laying down opaque areas ((like the highlights in the inner eye, next to nose, etc.)) Verithin, irojiten, and Faber -castell are good for line and light shading, as they are harder lead and won’t crumble as easily. Crayola is good for very light lines, or as a backup color in case you run out of another brand. I recommend experimenting with lots of different pencils to find your favorites :)

    • @kelseyjbeckett
      @kelseyjbeckett  2 роки тому +1

      Yes! Some waxier pencils will reject water based paint however
