    It was approximately 0.36 seconds from bat to mitt. I used my stopwatch with the video at 0.25 speed to determine that.

      Going frame-by-frame with . and , on 720p60, I counted 22 frames.
      22/60=0.366...
      You were spot on with the stopwatch.

      Wow that's a pretty accurate measurement. However the correct answer is .359 seconds, the announcer said ball was going 104.8mph and since it has to travel 55ft to the pitcher the calculation comes out to be .359

    • @ないくろくろ-e5l
      @ないくろくろ-e5l 2 місяці тому +1

      @@oddreviews7645maybe 104.8mph is exit velocity
      The velocity should drop by 8-10% by the time it reaches the pitcher.
      sorry for my stupid bad english😢

    I used to play slow pitch softball. It was a lot if fun with friends. One season I was pitcher for my team and after every pitch I'd always hold my glove out in front of me, for that exact reason. And one time a big dude hit the ball right into my glove, almost before I knew what was happening. Glad it didn't hit my face!

      But if it was in the softer spots … death is possible

    • @ktbeatty
      @ktbeatty 9 місяців тому +2

      As the other comments said, it depends. My wife was an RN in the neuro ICU for years and saw seemingly minor head bumps lead to strokes and death and major head injuries need little more than stitches. It is so dependent on where in the head it’s hit, and the subsequent bleeding under the skull it causes.
      That ball hits his temple, he’s likely dead or TBI. Forehead? Nasty lump, lots of bleeding, and concussion, but recovers fine. Just no way to say for sure which is why head injuries are so scary.
