Wow 17 second mark of the trailer Mateen is drawing the OG Candyman Tony Todd. Maybe we will see Tony Todd as a spirit possessing Mateen's character using him as a vessel. It dredges up a subject a lot of white people feel very guilty about. We know that slaves were tortured. The original brought it up, but most people don't wanna hear it. The socio-economic reality of how we feel we are more "civilized" now is slapped in the face by recent events. We need a movie like this, and lots more like it. Things start to change, and I mean Really Change, then maybe it's need won't be so abhorrently valid.
I really like the idea of how that in the Original that was the story as it was, but Urban legends are never accurate, they never manifest themselves as the same thing. That's why Candyman might have a different look, because the story has become something different. Candyman's origins aren't changed. They aren't true. They aren't a lie. It's just a story. And stories never remain static. I always thought that it was a mistake that the sequel "confirmed" him as a person and demystified the story. In the original, Candyman may have looked the way he did because of how Helen saw the graffiti, how she saw the man who attacked her, it could have been all manifested from her own head which I think is the approach of the (at least that's how I take it)
Yeah I liked it as a story as well. I mean (not to bring in race) but the story is told by a white snotty professor in the original which was interesting to me because stories are changed and different from everyone like my mothers version of Goldilocks could be different from yours or even mine. For the people who are confusing this movie to be a remake, it’s not. It’s technically a reboot and sequel to the 92’ Candyman, just like Halloween (2018) was to the 78’ classic.
Since Daniel's death and his rise as the Candyman, people have believed in the urban legend for centuries but from what I getting from this trailer, it's bigger than him now. From what I saw in the trailer with Candyman Appearing throughout history, I believe that when the older gentleman said, "Candy ain't a he, Candyman is the whole damn hive." and "A story like that, pain like that lasts forever. Candyman is how we deal with the fact that these things happen, that their still happening!" So I'm only assuming that there has been multiple Candymen throughout history, not just Daniel, spreading the legend and letting people know their pain and suffering through either killing people in an artist way to make sure their not forgotten or getting vengeance on those that wronged them in life. At least that's what I think.
For those that missed it, the guy in the beginning is Candyman, not the tony Todd version, but the candyman of this movie. His name is Sherman Fields, the hand that gave out the candy in the puppet trailers. Sorry but Todd physically as CM is not in the movie only as a voice in Anthony's head
I am assuming you went to see a test screen of this movie. I sort of figured that out anyway because Tony Todd looks different and older than he was in 1992 and Candyman is not supposed to age. Also when Candyman said Tell Everyone he didn’t mean spoil the movie lol.

For those that missed it, the guy in the beginning is Candyman, not the tony Todd version, but the candyman of this movie. His name is Sherman Fields, the hand that gave out the candy in the puppet trailers. Sorry but Todd physically as CM is not in the movie only as a voice in Anthony's head
I am assuming you went to see a test screen of this movie. I sort of figured that out anyway because Tony Todd looks different and older than he was in 1992 and Candyman is not supposed to age. Also when Candyman said Tell Everyone he didn’t mean spoil the movie lol.
@@jayceevee8666 lol I didn't mean to spoil everything and I didn't see the screening but if you look very closely to the picture it looks nothing like him at all, but who knows since it was pushed back a year maybe they did some tweaking I would love if the at least put a CGI version of Todd in the.movie
