That was kind of Burke's plan, to revive the legend of Candyman and change him from a boogeyman to a spirit of vengeance for the victims of racial violence. Whether he succeeded or not is up for debate, because while Burke has a vision for what Candyman should be, we do not know whether the evolution of the urban legend will actually change the nature of Candyman himself. Like if Brianna tells a version of the story that portrays the Candyman who killed the cops in a more anti-hero fashion, will subsequent summonings of Candyman have him act in that manner? Because in the prior films, Candyman wasn't as concerned about protecting the racially oppressed as he was about killing so that his legend will grow and he will become more powerful. For all we know the Candyman we get at the end is no different from the OG Candyman, who just kills whoever was dumb enough to play the name game. But that's the beauty of the film right? It's a commentary on how stories evolve as well such that the original can be supplanted by what is more popular and accepted. If Brianna's narrative of the Candyman as an anti-hero takes root and spreads, then maybe that's what Candyman becomes, because the context of his legend has evolved is now tied to him acting as an anti-hero.
A few things wrong with this. 1st off Daniel Robitaille does not appear in the movie UNTIL the end! He was not the CandyMan who killed Burke’s sister. Just watched it, we wanna know if you can only see Candyman thru a mirror how was the police able to see him and his girlfriend able to see him at the end when he was called and killing the police behind the gates, she seen him?
Because the residents of Cabrini-Green swore to never speak of Candyman again, his power and legacy was weakened. Anthony's art project brought his legend back to the public conscious - Clive, the teenage girls, the art critic - and helped him to regain his power, though he was still only visible in mirrors because of his weakened state. In the end, when he was summoned by Brianna, he had regained full power through Anthony. Hence, he had a new physical form and more power, so he was able to speak and be seen.

I’m pretty sure he was not meant to be part of a family. He was just there to be sacrificed and for Helen to get the blame as she’d already been framed by Candyman. The idea was she would die and they’d remember her crimes forever. This Helen and Candyman spend an eternity together. He wasn’t supposed to be a surrogate anything. Feels like a lazy retcon. And Burkes create a Candyman idea doesn’t make sense as most folks already left so who’s he trying to scare off? The first killings in the original were in a white suburb so the myth spreads out of being in one location. Why doesn’t Burke see Todd as Candyman when he killed his sister? Or why does Helen see Todd even though that’s the oldest version of the myth and not the most recent? Also why doesn’t Burke just kill people with a hook?! That’s literally what keeps the myth going?! Why the convoluted story? If it really doesn’t matter who Candyman is, then he can do it himself. This film is trying desperately to tie itself to the original but it just doesn’t. Candyman isn’t The Crow. He was created through violence, but he’s not a ghost punisher. There’s a reason the whole of Cabrini Green visited Helen at the end.
He didn't need the child to frame Helen, because she had already been framed for several murders before-her legend was already solidified. He told her the child would be freed if she became his victim, but he lied to her in the end, because he wanted them to be together. Either interpretation is acceptable.
It wasn’t fully gentrified yet.. cause Burke owned a laundromat in the community so obviously the poor people who couldn’t afford to move still stuck around..
It's literally explained in the movie why Burke sees Sherman instead of Daniel. Sherman was the candyman of that time with Burke and Sherman was beat to death by cops and then found innocent. The whole thing revolves around the mistreatment of black folks, which was literally Daniel's origin story since he was a slave who was brutally murdered.

Seems ways too political of a direction for a horror series. Hopefully if they make another one, they involve more Tony Todd and Clive Barker. Tony Todd's appearance at the end was pretty much the only moment the presence of Candyman was out of Clive Barker's work. Very reminiscent of Pinhead from Hellraiser, which is Barker's most memorable work.

Exactly
He didn't need the child to frame Helen, because she had already been framed for several murders before-her legend was already solidified. He told her the child would be freed if she became his victim, but he lied to her in the end, because he wanted them to be together. Either interpretation is acceptable.
@@donnybuoy exactly
It wasn’t fully gentrified yet.. cause Burke owned a laundromat in the community so obviously the poor people who couldn’t afford to move still stuck around..
It's literally explained in the movie why Burke sees Sherman instead of Daniel. Sherman was the candyman of that time with Burke and Sherman was beat to death by cops and then found innocent. The whole thing revolves around the mistreatment of black folks, which was literally Daniel's origin story since he was a slave who was brutally murdered.
Waited the whole movie for them to play Da Blow by Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz (iykyk). But we DID get Raven Lenae in truu Chi-Town fashion. Respect ✊🏾
Anyone notice the reflections after the cop ask who are you?
So let me get the straight so candy kidnapped a baby an raised him to basically be the next candy man but the baby he raised who is an artist in the movie doesn’t know he may possible be the next candy man. Someone please explain??
u just explained it -_-
Did you guys really reveal the Candyman's look??
He has many faces
TELL EVERYONE
That's not Candyman
It’s one of his various forms.
@@pearlspacejam8639 No it's recacsting

@@-thesalemcrow-5941 obviously you don't get the the whole thing about this movie there are multiple candymen its literally in the orginal and in this new one
how many times did he say./.... candy man
Burke's sister called Sherman not Daniel.
Great movie looking forward to the future of Candyman
But explain why the bee did that to him
@It Be Like That Sometimes and how did Bruke know he was the child ?
Exactly I’m like they could have explained it far better
It’s not a documentary. It’s a horror film.
Loved the message behind this film. Jordan Peele did his thing forreal. 💪
Fact!
@Rosma Salinez how?
@Rosma Salinez blaming and whining huh? Explain please
Smh you mean Nia dacosta did her thing!
@Rosma Salinez kinda like racists 'blaming and whining' about the movie being "woke"? embarrassing.
Why does every movie need to be explained
In 20 years candyman will still be watched this remake will be forgotten.
It's not a remake. Did you even watch it?
Better than the original for me
😂
Wrong, clown.
CandyMan neva gave out any candy it was confusing nutthin like tha original story..
Watch the film over bro! The guy handing out candy is a DIFFERENT Candyman and is apart of the "hive" of Candymen throughout history.
CGI Tony Todd ?
No it wasn't CGI Tony Todd it was actually him he was the candyman in this film
But cgi was used to de age him
Not sure why, if Todd had a cameo, for the sake of continuity he could just have played the part throughout?
The OG Candyman using the body of Anthony McCoy as an avatar for him & his hive that why you see all the faces of the previous Candyman people in his reflection their spirits are all inside him now
Hoping more Candyman films will be made 🤞
The sister didn't die from the original Candyman. It was the other candyman. Wth. Do your research better.
Ok so the real candyman is Tony Todd, the new candyman is a random stranger who dressed up as candyman and died and he became a ghost right?
You obviously don’t anything about how candy man keeps coming back, Candy isn’t just one person He’s many other people, people from past generations
@@BagChaserYT maybe in this movie. Wasn't that way at all originally.
The movie really fell off during the third act
@james conlin no mate, that third act was literally lacking. Started when she came into the laundromat and ended the film 10 min later, without much happening except running through a hallway in the dark.
@@luisenriquegalindo5553 there was definitely a lot more to it than that lmfao
The movie was slowly falling apart mid way through the second act

The original Candyman was white in Clive Barkers original story….

@@jrdatrackstar the story is called the forbidden

Sherman killed his sister not the OG
Wait it out already tf
May Jordan peele the director do another part the movie candyman it's not finished yet
Tbh the movie is still left confused at the ending
Hooch is crazy
Seems ways too political of a direction for a horror series. Hopefully if they make another one, they involve more Tony Todd and Clive Barker. Tony Todd's appearance at the end was pretty much the only moment the presence of Candyman was out of Clive Barker's work. Very reminiscent of Pinhead from Hellraiser, which is Barker's most memorable work.
Terrible idea. No one wants a geriatric Candyman. They knew that going in and expanded the mythos. That’s the only way it would of worked.
You say Tony’s appearance was the only presence of Clives work, like it’s a bad thing. It is not.
It was political in the first place. 😐 Tony Todd was in it for a short period of time bc he didn't really wanna do it.
@@kittykat2501 but where did he say he didn't wanna do it? Do you have a link for a source interview?
@@atomicfirehead He never said those exact words, but he sort of implied it when talking about the character and further development of a movie. He granted his blessings to the character to Yahya and said he just "hopes he appears in some sort of fashion."
@@kittykat2501 where is that source where he implies it? So far it sounds like misinterpretation. Just cos he grant blessing doesn't mean he wants no involvement. John Carpenter did the same thing Rob Zombie's shitty Halloween remake, he ended up hating it along with the past sequels. But he still involved himself to do the music for both the 2018 reboot/sequel and it's sequel.
The girl did not summoning candyman the cop did she started but he said the last word
Why are there so many different candy mans

Why did the candyman try to sacrifice the baby?
This movie was horrible.
Candyman isn’t a black super hero. Stop trying to make him into one.
Huh? Lol
Calm down.

Yeah, kinda disappointed. A lot of telling, lacked showing. That ending felt rushed. Feels like there’s a lot of things left in the drawing board between the Laundromat and the Church.
