  • Hope you enjoyed this, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! :)
    Key takeaways:
    ------------------------
    1) When you feel stuck and unsure what to do, ask yourself the question: "What part of the game is it?". The answer will remind you of the objectives that you have to complete within that part of the game!
2a) Opening-middlegame difference: You are in the opening until you develop all your minor pieces and castle your king. Once you do that, you enter the middlegame.
2b) Middlegame-endgame difference (Magic teleportation): If you can safely teleport your king to the heart of their position, it's the endgame. If it is unsafe to do so as a result of checkmate, it's the middlegame.
    3) Objectives for each part of the game:
Opening - develop all minor pieces + castle
Middlegame - Improve worst piece (link a few lines below)
Endgame - Out with the king + Promote your pawns

Is it possible for an adult to start from 0 and go all the way to 2600, and become a chess master? I mean, IM or GM?

Those are very different goals (the gap between IM and GM is huge), but I believe anything is possible if you put your mind and a ton of time to it :)
It's just difficult for most adults to commit a ton of time to it because of their professional and family lives
You also really have to love the game to stay consistent in studying and playing without burning out so I don't recommend it if you don't enjoy chess
