FEEDBACK IS WELCOME. I decided to strip away music and voice over. Does it work?
Can't believe I'm just getting around to seeing this. My wife and I chatted with you at the trail head. What a great trip, we're planning on revisiting the area in Aug 2024. Amazing backpacking trip
I remember you! Great to hear from you again!
Man, this makes me miss Idaho so much. I hiked this loop as a day trip from Boise 10 years ago, and I've never been so tired at the end of a day. Great video!
Glad to see you make a video in the Sawtooths. My favorite range 👍🙂
Amazing shots! Excellent editing. This video was a great experience.
Thanks Tim!!!!
Love the format
The silent format on this one did a little better than my next two!
Beautiful scenes! I personally like there being less music and more natural sounds in videos. Sometimes music is good during some epic shots. I don't mind voiceover either. I guess I like it all haha This format is the most relaxing though!
Yeh this video has performed a little better than my next two!
Majestic Views !!!!! Long gone are the days talking about gear in your small apartment with the dark wall as the backdrop. Seems to me all your hard work is paying dividends a plenty !
Not too long gone. I do need to do a gear video!!!
Your Mike picks up the crunching from your foot wear. Love the scenery. One really can't get from a car. Totally understand wanting to be in the woods.
In the pines is fine! Thanks!

Very nice! It would be helpful to have more information on names of lakes and streams you are crossing or overlooking. Thanks for posting the video. This is such a beautiful area of Idaho.
That would be a great addition!
Brilliant thumbnail my friend, you created absolutely gorgeous upload here. Well done! 🎬🥾
Just wait for Rae’s Lake, Tetons and the Winds!!! Woooooo, Thanks!
i like the "pure" style. and still rockin that KS pack, i see. just received my KS Omega56
Pure backpacks!!!
I think all of your videos are good and would say keep following your own artistic interests, that is after all why I watch other people’s videos. A video I really would
Like to see is you talking about your career switch. You’ve mentioned physical therapy in other videos and I had no idea you worked for fedex. That really got interested to know more about you. Thx for all the good content.
Thanks for the feedback. I just added that to my last video
I love this style of video, and congrats on your life changes. Finding a way to be happy is not easy, and probably pretty rare these days. Well done!
I do love my life! Much better than FedEx life!
New to your channel. I really like your presentation. Regarding other remarks on voice overs, music etc, IMO the gold standard for the balance of ambient sounds and voice is Erik Normark.
Yesssss where is Erik?!?
Love the format! Getting the audio transition on step between shots was a nice touch! Really liked the audio here!
I like!
Great areas in these vids lately...
Been picking high places! Tetons, Rae Lakes and Wind River to come
These videos are nice, but i really loved your gear videos. Still think you did that stuff better than anyone. Plans to do more gear videos?
Gotta do a yearly gear video! I think I’m gonna avoid the gear rat race though! Dan Becker and MyLifeOutdoors have to work too hard.
@@MattShafter yeah yearly would be great!
Crunchy
Jiff Hikes!
Yeah boyyyyyy
He’s here!
As another user said would be cool to have a subtitle flash saying the name of the lake or mountain, maybe where you camped, etc. I see the bear can...are there grizzlies in this neck-of-the-woods?
Those are good ideas! Yeh there seems to be a pattern for that..... You know, I think there was a bear can requirement, but I was in such good shape from hiking for so long I don't think I cared. I can't remember lol
I agree with what some other comments have suggested about popping up location names along your loop, but I really enjoyed this format nontheless. In fact, one of my favorite bushcraft channels uses the same format...the YouTubber is totally silent throughout. I could watch his channel for hours. Here's an example: ua-cam.com/video/tk1LSCInooE/v-deo.html
Great to see your content again, Matt!
Yeh. There's something to this format. It's WAY easier too. No music hunting etc. I like how that guy lays over some nature sounds over his drone shots. Thanks!
@@MattShafter confirmed, battlerattle is into bushcraft
Could you make a seperate video describing what “hiking” is? I feel like that would be beneficial for those of us unfamiliar with the term. Thanks!
It’s simply walking, but every 200ft you say “Wow, wouldya look at that.” You’re welcome!
I prefer the sounds of nature rather than music. Perhaps a few scenes of you going toward the camera would add to the interest.
Cool. I'll look and see how the retention was. I have a feeling alot of people like the musicless format. The data will show that though. Thanks Mike!
Where is that awesome girl you would hike with? She made the videos
Well….. we were in the parking lot and a Sasquatch kidnapped her. The rest of the video was me looking for her.
I loved the video but you do have a great “radio” voice so an intro or outro voice-over might be nice too. Or, do the K.A. post-hike synopsis on camera at home.
We’ll see what the data says! Thanks DC!
No music works fo me, would prefer you spoke instead of texting the video. No voice does not work for me sorry to say. best regards
Next one I might look at voice over!
