Hard to believe this vid was 2 years ago already! Your vids are so damn good I can watch them over again for inspiration when I can't get to the outdoors. Starting my own channel now only hoping to have even a fraction of the success you've had... Cheers Joe, your hard work is much appreciated! :)
Very much enjoy your videos. Been laid up with a shattered ankle. Your videos have been just the right medicine. Thanks for all you do for all of us out here. Dave
Hay Joe. Great edition. Loved watching ya. After all these years of watching lots of guys, You've impressed me more with your use of the cutting tools (knife, axe and saw) than anyone else. Many little their way through it. But you have a gift for it ... a higher level of confidence and efficiency in the way you process wood. It's the main thing I take away with me each time I watch you set up a campsite. Appreciate it.
Hi Joe, Thanks for the clip. There was some useful stuff in there about shelter building. Re your flashlight not seeming any brighter on the highest setting, try a higher output/quality type of battery. You'll probably find that it wasn't actually any brighter at all. I had the same issue with an everyday alkaline battery as well as a rechargeable one I tried in my Fenix flashlight. A higher output alkaline battery did the trick. Thanks. Vaughan
Glad to see you used the grass as bedding and also mentioned it could be full of ticks in warmer weather. Like you we have no natural occurring pine in the area so I often wondered if grass would make good bedding.
Can't believe the beautiful, warm weather in November. You'll be looking back on this trip in a few weeks thinking it was like summer. Thanks for sharing your overnighter. Looking forward to your next adventure.
I have the same head lamp, they work great! Great video Joe hopefully you'll be doing some winter overnighters,,, You should lay your wool blanket in a diamond pattern and layer it create dead air spaces
JoeRobinetBushcraft at exactly 20:56 there is an eerie whisper in the camera that wasn't you oh my fucking god I'm not kidding please review from 20:55 to 20:57. It's an intelligent whisper !!!!!!!
I feel like all of the videos I've watched of yours have like 73 thumbs downs. They're probably the same 73 guys that just can't seem to mind their own. These videos are great. I love them. I love watching Scout and I love learning new things from you.
Great video Joe. I watched it in the big city and it helped me escape for abit after working all day. I'm gonna start getting outdoors more often for sure. Cheers.
+feellnfroggy Also, Im positive its been said before, but just a reminder....If coyotes did nose around the camp, Scout would be more likely to be injured or killed if they attacked while hes roped up....I guess its one of those 6 in one hand, half dozen the other, cuz you cant have him running off.
great video not sure how I missed it. thanks for all the videos Joe. I get out for 2-3 over nights a month because you helped get me back into bushcraft and the calm of outdoors.
I haven't had the time to sit down and watch one of your videos in a while. Sat and enjoyed this one from beginning to end. It's put some inspiration in me to get back outside. Great stuff Joe. Horace
👍 great Video , every comfortable shelter as well . Like you've said the wood blanket ! It will still keep heat in even when wet !!! They got that blanket right the first time . Never leave home with out it !!! Thanks Joe - good boy scout !!! Get em !!!
I absolutely love all of your content and your positive attitude! Thank you for all the information, the time you put in to make the quality of your videos wonderful, and how you have impacted me in such a positive way! Much love goes out to you, Scout, and the rest of your family and friends!!! By the way I'm viewing all the way from the south and there is great camping here but the humid heat, all the countless bugs, and less seclusion makes me very jealous of the beautiful camping an cold weather near you LOL! Hopefully one day I can end up in Canada. Take it easy!
Joe--Please keep doing the quick reflection at the end of the video! I think that it's as helpful for you as it is for us! You can't improve unless you reflect on the experience. Great idea, great video, and great trip!
Enjoyed the video Joe and I always like seeing Scout out with you. You shelter looked pretty good but not sure how comfy that bed really is. Thanks for the vid.
Joe, I really enjoy watching your videos. They are informative, and entertaining. Have you ever considered taking one of your subscribers with you on one of your bushcraft adventures? I think it would be great for you to feature a novice woodsman/hiker in one of your videos. Be safe and keep up the good work.
Great video man! Amazing Relationship with tour dog and the the experience you have makes it easy to get lost in your adventure !! Hope you have more coming !
Great video amigo. I was thinking of the There Little Pigs when you built that straw house...glad the wind didn't pick up! ;) Thanks for taking the time. Warm wishes Thom
Joe, thank you for sharing all the knowledge man!! you deliver it in a way thats not too advanced and not too beginner so most newer backpackers, like myself, can understand, yet more experienced people can get something from it. if you ever have a chance to get to west virginia, USA, come to Dolly Sods, you will not be disappointed. keep at it bro!! thanks.
JoeRobinetBushcraft I enjoy your videos. Have you thought about wearing eye protection? I noticed the way you swing that axe a ricochet is very possible. You're 10k deep into the bush and injured an eye. That would be difficult to handle, especially if there's elevation changes. Please don't take me for a safety Sally. I had a friend damage an eye as a carpenter. Good day
Great video, Joe. I really enjoy it when you include how-to info and hacks. Learn a lot from that stuff, yessiree I do. Keep 'em coming. Oh, and give Scout a scritch behind the ears for me.
Nice outing Joe. Bed look comfy. Thanks for sharing as always. And yea, Silky saws are awesome. I own one and never go into the woods without it.I also take it kayak camping to make lite work of small blow over trees blocking the way.
+Chales levine Huh?? Where did that come from pervert. What exactly did I say to ummm warrant that comment?...lol. Or do you just troll around making dumb comments to work people up. This is a bushcraft/survival type channel. Wrong place for that stupid shit.
awsome film. I understand you are a working family man. looks like your lucky to have enough time to do this much. thanks for sharing as always! thanks for gear reviews
I did something like your bed twice, then I stopped. For all the decades since, I just put leave and grass directly on a ground cloth between two logs to keep it in pace. It's a lot simpler, I've never had a problem with cold or water, and, to me, it seems a lot more comfortable. All those poles and sticks and limbs were just too much. I need far less padding, and still sleep well.
Pretty roomy ruck! I like it. And there is always room for a Life Hack-ey Sack. I keep one stashed in my pack for those few moments of down time. Just as handy as a deck of cards!
Nice video Joe! I totally relate with your comment about the sunrise. There just is something peaceful and rejuvenating about waking up in the woods and watching the sun crack over the horizon. One of those things you have to experience I guess. I also have a 7 year old dog named Scout:) Mine is a Golden Retriever. Keep up the great work on your channel.
Really good teaching video, that is one of your hallmarks. That may be the best Canadian Manger ever built this side of Jerusalem lol. Really good stuff man. Thanks.
Great video, Joe! Love that you take Scout on your outings. Super shelter and bed. WTF! No beer! A great steak without beer is like Joe without Scout...something like that. :)
@12:37 Hahaha...sleeping in a tinder bundle...LOL Huf and puff and blow your Grass shelter down..lol..This reminds me of my Homeless days, as a younging...setting up basecamp outside the city / cooking up a cheap meal / sleeping..I like it !!
Scout survived quite well? What beautiful dog! I learned some things watching: that pocket saw is a must have! Normally I use a small(ish) Condor axe but it needs a LOT of energy for firewood while your saw made short work of it. Too good to not take. I'd have had an altoids tin 1st aid kit because i'm alone with cutting tools but that's just me. Do you support the idea everyone's needs in the woods might be little different and the pack-out will reflect it? The long fire works, especially when it comes to not expending a great amount of effort cutting smaller pieces of firewood but I noticed you had to get up every hour-two hours to feed the fire. When I trek I need my sleep. Do you think if you had time for a more ambitious shelter you'd have been able to get better sleep? I bivy sack/tent it now and I've forgotten how much work is involved building even a simple wind-breaking lean-to. In my neck of the woods it's almost always spruce forest so beds and shelters aren't difficult. This was a really good vid. Thanks!
+Todd Scott Yes, I fully agree that peoples needs differ, and the loadout will reflect that, nothing wrong at all, just facts. Relying on the long fire always makes for a difficult nights sleep...As you said, when I am trekking, or canoecamping, I bring a very lightweight tent and sleeping bag. I have no desire to stop after walking or paddling all day and build a shelter. Thanks man.
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. they are so peaceful and comforting to watch.
Joe Goodm
I agree
Joe Goodman. joe is great my wife and i like him and his knowledge wish we city dwellers had his knowledge...

For a short daylight time , you built a great shelter. It's joyful to watch Scout.
Nice job, as usual, explaining what you do and how, and why. Thanks for including Scout as much as possible. I love taking my dog with me.
Very much enjoy your videos. Been laid up with a shattered ankle. Your videos have been just the right medicine. Thanks for all you do for all of us out here.

During your down time. It is great to go back and watch these again.
Hope you are getting well quickly.

These videos are great. I love them. I love watching Scout and I love learning new things from you.
Nice camp Joe, and bonus points for giving props to Mors. Too many folks try to pretend that they came up with these techniques.
Great video Joe. I watched it in the big city and it helped me escape for abit after working all day. I'm gonna start getting outdoors more often for sure. Cheers.
I like how the dog listens when you say "watch out". lol What a great dog
I got into Bushcraft because of you, and i want to say thank you.

+Kevin Fraser I know eh.
Looked like it was a very natural night. Have an amazing day Karla
lol. You don't see anything but scout smells it. I love taking a dog into the woods, best alarm ever.

Great content, but id have to say my favorite part is the hacky sack/footbag segment. I love playing!

Best video yet
