agree in exposed connections where you can see a leak use whatever press / sharkbite / pushfit / compression / solder / threaded. if you are putting them behind walls... i like crimpex.
Invading the hundreds of ones behind walls. Lol. I had a flex line for my water heater supply burst because the manufacturer used a rubber that wasn't chlorine resistant. It got a hole and it was spraying just little enough that the heater kept up with the leak. It suppressors hot water all over my laundry room for a week while I was out of town. It was like a hot, moldy, damp, sauna by the time I got home. Imagine those o rings starting to fail in 10, 20, 30, or 40 years. Yikes.
O rings are a backup. The press actually crimps the copper fitting so tightly around the pipe that it's leak free, but if water was to get through, the o ring prevents it from going further
people are insane to think its ONLY the o ring holding copper to copper.. so obsurd. ive seen more leaky copper joints my only 5 years of plumbing than i have seen a single pex/sharkbite/or propress fail.
@djblazeee I've seen a lot of people make mistakes with a tourch. Propress is a new way of doing things and folks just resist it. I prefer it because it takes less time, cleaner joints, and no corrosive Flux to deal with. Just have to debur and mark depth. Megapress is even better. No oils, no big heavy machines and stands to cut treads.
I work in a manufacturing facility that was just completely re-built. Every single copper joint from 1/2” to 4” whether for compressed air or water is a pro-press fitting. Nothing is soldered anymore

Very true, I have the C1 kit. I just find myself working on crimp PEX fittings and thinking if I had C1 type jaws it would make some of the crimps much easier, especially during repairs. That and a crimp x crimp wing ell for remodel work. When they have exposed PEX running up the back of a cabinet, I just hate the floppy straight stops. Jet sweat or the old timers trick of bread. But The ProPress is very impressive As someone whom has personally soldered 10 of thousands of joints and pipe . I recently had a water shut off break in my home and the plumber used a ProPress Ball Valve, Tee, Couplings and was done with the job in less than 15 minutes I will say I was very impressed with the Ridgid Setup.
@@lc9991xI prefer the stainless steel crimp rings because if you mess it up you can break it off and put another on, with the copper rings you have to cut the pipe, then cut the ring off with another tool then a coupling and more crimp rings.
