Guthrie - you’re a true inspiration to all us teachers out here. Not having to rely on flash or memes, trending stories, etc...just giving us the information as directly as possible. Thank you.
Guthrie, I've been practicing for hours on the "Master Class" video (you made just for me) from Tuesday's private lesson (I'm only 16mins into the hour, there is so much good stuff in there). I'm "listening" to the target notes that are changing. I waited all day to watch this bending lesson and its ALL the SAME story. I have a long way to go but no doubt, YOU are an amazing teacher. EVERYONE....Reach out to Guthrie and get a private lesson! Thanks, man, you are a genuine man and truly have a giving soul to share your talent! Talk soon, Brother!
@@guthrietrappmusic, It was great of you to stop by and hang for a minute during your busy night entertaining guests. Dawn said you looked young, I said you just shaved, haha! We would like to invite you up to the "coach" for a home-cooked meal next time we are in town. I don't know the last time your mom was in town to cook for you:) God bless brother!
Thanks Guthrie.Getting into the Artistworks course now. Its absolutely fantastic. I'd encourage anyone serious about improving their playing to sign up.
As always, you are amazing in not only helping a novice understand what the hell string bending country style is, also the more experienced cats are seeing picking hand placement with different attack & tonality. I know a lot of players in Europe that are mesmerized by your country chicken-picking style. Personally, I’m a fan for life because of your inviting, friendly way of communicating with the guitar and also without that is genuine and honest. I’m more geared towards your jazzy blues side and by the end of October when I’ll be done with my pre-medicine tests, I’ll be able to sign up for lessons! Thank you once again dear friend!
To me two comments from you stand out here and these are gems I think, You mention "seeing the guitar not from a theory point of view but from a musical point of view" (paraphrased) and second "taught by professionals not professors." I get the feeling if we sat down face to face I'd be getting the real guy who actually makes and acknowledges mistakes (at no extra charge!) and cares about the people he is sharing this information with. Thanks hope to meet you someday.
I knew I'd find a good and simply explained lesson on country bends from you Guthrie. It's not that complicated when explained properly. Thanks much! Looking forward to your upcoming release with Uncle Larry!
guthrie watched this posting with mondays right hand lesson in mind and everything you said on pick work and using the other fingers was perfectly illustrated in context. thank you. Tony
Been back to this particular lesson 3 times already so I book-marked it. It's exactly the sort of thing I come to your channel for, as someone who has played and taught rock and blues for a long time now, this right here is getting me back to the roots of where so many of my childhood guitar heroes got much of their inspiration. The history of music itself I think intrigues me now every bit as much as learning guitar did as a kid. So this sort of thing puts a huge smile on this ole metal heads face. ^-^ (My roundabout way of saying: _more like this please)_
Guthrie is everything I love about guitar he can play anything but always focuses on melody and musicality im on a 5 year journey on guitar trying to get to a reasonably skilled level im 1.5 years in and have made great strides. Guthrie is such an inspiration!
I’m not that much into country style, but you make me wanna. Your videos are of so much energy and genuine joy playing the guitar. It’s very motivating. Theory stays tough though!
Another great lesson. This is one of the few times I have seen these techniques taught since the out of print Nashville Guitar book form thirty years ago. That book changed my playing and anything like it is not available. Once again, thank you for showing people how to perform these string bending licks.
Cool lesson. I remember having this style of lesson on ArtistWorks, this is a must learn lesson if you are going to play country, it sounds so cool and you can’t help but want to bend the heck out of the strings to get that cool sound. Thank GOD for the cool weather, this year was so hot. Thanks.
Oh man...that little "ramp up" lick at 10:36 has become a favorite of mine in the past couple of months. It just sounds real good and falls nicely under the fingers. I can't quite remember where I stole it from, but it's a nice bit of validation to see you using it as well! And now, I've got some cooler licks to put in front of and behind it. Thanks, man!
@@guthrietrappmusic I have downloaded 37 videos( including your lesson videos & your Live Performances) amounting to 2.49 GB in my Computer and following and learning those step by step...thanks for the reply....hope to find more....Long Live Rock & Blues...
Sorry if I missed anything Guthrie, our electric company here threw a temper tantrum and shut us down for a few days, lols. I love these bends. Reminds me a lot of how I discovered country guitar by listening to Hendrix, Zeppelin and Clapton as a kid.
I can see where the G bender would come in some handy but as a rocker, I think I would prefer to bend that sumbich as it is. Cool video. I'm gonna watch a bunch of this.
Such great stuff!! Those sweet, lonesome Jerry Garcia-on-the-pedal-steel sounds harken back to Workingman's Dead. Can't wait to learn some of these licks. You da Man, Guthrie!
Hey GT! The chord movement with the bends helped a bunch. I am just going to have to break down and get a Tele, always wanted one. Just love your playing and the way you lay this out. Makes me look at some of the things I've been playing for years a totally different way. Thanks again!
Awesome country steel licks!!! Love it brother, thats the main style of music our band plays, and I have been using what I have picked up from you which has been a ton to digest but it has really helped me tremendously!!! Thanks Guthrie you are the man!!
Hey Guthrie At about 15:50 you talk about the bends being interchangeable after you show the bends in A you go to G, what is the bend fingering in the first position G?? Thank you! Keep up the great work!! Mark
What a cool lesson man. Your videos help and inspire me to come out of my comfort zone and progress. It's a bit like Brent masons jam play, only there's more detail and depth in this lesson. Thanks Guthrie

It's amazing how sometimes, you do something so often and naturally, that you have to stop and think how you do it. I remember a bending video you did a while back, maybe ArtistWorks. Same thing, you were talking about middle and ring finger, and halfway through, you stopped and said, "wait a minute, I use the middle finger" it's funny because ever since I watched that video, I've noticed the same things with my fingerings. And I'm constantly trying new fingers just to see if maybe something changed since last I checked.
I already know that style of pedal steel bends and country playing in general. I'd like to find where I can learn more out of the box style of playing like Chris clarity in cody jinks.
I'm sold I need to hook up for some country lead guitar lessons don't know a thing about pay pal or anything that over the internet would appreciate help thanks Guthrie
