Geiriau/ lyrics:
Sunset glow fades in the west.
Night o'er the valley is creeping.
Birds cuddle down in their nest
Soon all the world will be sleeping.
And now is the hour
When we must say goodbye.
Soon you'll be sailing
Far across the sea.
While you're away
Oh, please, remember me.
When you return
You'll find me waiting here.
While you're away
Oh, please, remember me.
When you return
You'll find me waiting here.
When you return
You'll find me waiting here.
"Now Is the Hour" is a popular song, though often described as a traditional Māori song, the english lyrics are by Clement Scott, an Australian. It is usually credited to Clement Scott, Maewa Kaihau & Dorothy Stewart.
I grew up in New Zealand, with a Welsh a father, my tears are streaming down my cheeks. Thank you.
Hauntingly beautiful.
Just old enough to remember the days when the crowd in Cardiff would sing this to the All Blacks at the end of a tour.
I know that at the end of the final test for teams touring NZ, ' Now is the Hour' was sung to 'farewell' the visitors. I have never heard of the reverse happening ,ie that at the end of an All Blacks tour, the Irish/Scottish/Welsh/ English/French/S African or Australian crowd would do like wise. Anybody? BTW, I 'm Irish.
@@dnhy7951 I don't recall it, either, but as I don't know how far back Olwen's memories take her, it may be before my time (and I go back a long way) 😉
@@yvonnewalesuk8035 Thanks for replying.I do remember Welsh teams from about 1974 and you had some great players.Gerald Davies was my favourite.
What a rich and endearing culture, and how well they sing this lovely song.
Another classic video at any rate. Keep 'em coming!

@GreenArrowM Rugby too.
@GreenArrowM Well, maybe I don't have very good humour, but then my humour is notorious among my friends. Sorry about that.
@GreenArrowM Don't take it to heart. I've been called a sheepshagger too many times to count, but I still find it funny. The people who actually think it's true are the funniest. Personally I don't think it's bad humour as long as it is just a joke, but each to their own, eh?
hi would like to get hold of the sheet music for this for four part choir
@GreenArrowM I like lamb.
@GreenArrowM Don't forget sheepshagging! Na, just joking, in Scotland we call people from Aberdeen (the only city in North East Scotland) sheepshaggers - doesn't make much sense really since there aren't many sheep in the UK's primary oil port!
@robsargent4 just terrible. Bad humour
