Hey kids! Have you ever wondered what it would sound like if Metallica's landmark album Kill 'em All was completely major key instead of minor? I know i sure have. So to further explore, i've made major key versions of all the main riffs from the album! Sounds like James and Kirk got a little extra pep in their step.
Gear used: Suhr Modern Satin, Kemper Profiler (Amp Factory Supro profile... yeah really), Fender jazz 5 with Duncan Apollo pickups plus Sansamp (logic X Pro for the fuzz tone)

Sum 41 was pretty metal for pop punk, they have this one 2min song that sounds a lot like maiden lol

I've always questioned that if they'd never put out All Killer No Filler and had more metal-esque mixing on DTLI, whether they'd be considered a metal band.

I agree this sounds really like Battery, and the riff in the beginning is really like Through the Never. But this is far from being like Kill ´Em All in major. The song Bitter End is just in minor, so the riffs are just like Metallicas riffs in a unchanged mode. Kill ´Em All in major sounds kind of like the radio singles from Sum 41 or Blink 182.
Yeah you're right about the tuning thing, i guess that's why i always thought that thrash metal and punk rock felt similar in some way. I could definitely see Jump in the Fire or Phantom Lord be a NOFX song or Metal Militia be a Strung Out song.
