    I have the 2x2 coin pages that I store my oxide foams in. I have my ink swatches in separate coin pages. It has worked so great for me and I love having them handy and I just put them on a binder ring and hang it off the side of my desk. I have all the mini distress ink pads so I just put the foams in the bottom of those like you do.

    I have mine on 2 laminated A4 sheets with their names on and with velcro dots for each of them to stick to. I velcro the sheets to the side of the wall unit where I keep my inks. When I want to use them all I take the sheets off the unit and put them on the desk as a pallet

    Amy, Amy, Amy!! Thank you so much for sharing this storage tip! I bought one of the Snap Simple Stories binders and the 2x2 pocket pages a few months ago and finally decided to quit being lazy and set up my binder. I love it!! Unfortunately, my label maker ran out of labels and now I have to wait to finish it. 😜 But it looks great! I don't have many of the distress oxide inks (yet!), but look forward to using this storage system. Thank you again for sharing this idea and for sharing your many beautiful cards with all of us. 😊❤

    Great storage option. I use those dollar tree boxes that they are swapping as embellishment boxes and they fit perfectly! I have like 30 of the original tools, but only 6 of the little round. I buy them from time to time, but I still use my originals, especially for bigger areas or areas I need a deeper blend. TFS :)
    Ps... I remember your first purchase of Distress ink at your local store and you were unsure if you would even like it. If we only knew way back when LOL

      I actually was given some Distress Ink pads years and years ago and they sat in a drawer for years b/c I didn't like them and didn't see the point of them. So funny b/c both the Distress and Distress Oxides are my most reached for inks now lol

      yep they'd be fine - and yes a huge comeback - Rangers had a hard time keeping up with demand lol - it's fun tho b/c now there's more fun colors and products that we didn't have back then to use them with

    Amy, I know this is an older post on blending sponge storage. So happy I saw it on the SSS tumbling hearts stencil card video you were about to make Feb28th? Anywho, you mentioned there was a vid on storing your blending sponges. I did color swatches like that, and now Im going to do your great sponge storage idea as well. Thanks for sharing this. Love it.

    Sound advice, all of it. One thing you were doing but didn't comment on, is that it's a good idea to keep a finger on the Velcro bit on the handle. With the old handles it was all too easy to rip it off to the point where Tim Holtz made a video saying just that. I haven't done it with the minis but then again I always hold it down. Somewhat off topic, however, a useful note.

    • @PrairiePaperandInk
      @PrairiePaperandInk  6 років тому

      I've never had an issue with the velcro since the mini round size was released - sure it pulls up a bit but the staples they've used to hold it to the handle have held secure for me for years now that's why I've never mentioned it

    • @bethjeans3780
      @bethjeans3780 3 роки тому

      @@PrairiePaperandInk You showed that you actually did put a finger from your other hand on the velcro both times you showed it - just automatic at this point probably. :)

    Your idea is good. I like mine as well. I went to Ranger website and printed out the chart for the Oxides. Laminated the chart (but page protector would work too). Bought Velcro at JoAnn’s (using coupon). Attached the Velcro to the laminated sheet. Then I put blending sponges to the respective colors. I may have to do some juggling with the new colors cuze I haven’t looked at the Ranger site yet with his ones just released. keep the sheets Velcroed to my wall by my ink storage. I do have a large binder for all my ink swatches but have not yet done my Oxides. Since I use Bristol the most, they r all swatched on it. Think I’ll put my swatches on a ring like Tim Holtz does and hang near my sponges. I have 6 handles for Distress. I have handles for ALL the Dylusions paints I keep on a revolving blending tool holder 3 racks high (bought at Tuesday Morning about 12 mo ago). Thanks for sharing your idea.

    I just love you! I stole your idea for Oxide ink sponge storage after the very first time you mentioned it and I am loving it! I can’t stand for my pads to not stack properly and I didn’t like that ink got everywhere when I tried storing them on the bottom. Inky fingers make me happy so pulling the sponges from the small pockets doesn’t bother me. Plus, like you said, it’s just cute! TFS, sweets!

    I store my blending pads in a notebook as well, but I use heavy cardstock with pieces of the hook side of velcro glued on. If you worry about color transfer just place a cheap page protector between each page. This works great for me as I don't have to struggle with little pockets!

    • @annihilator45
      @annihilator45 6 років тому

      Robin Schaefer I store my foams similarly..mine are on Velcro pieces on cardstock, inside a large plastic box. I can fit 24 in each box. So I'll need three boxes for the 60 colors.

    • @mcescher1957
      @mcescher1957 6 років тому +1

      It really works great doesn't it? I know that I have had a hard time finding the plastic pockets with all the small pockets and I would think you would end up with more ink on your fingers trying to maneuver those foams in the little pockets...lol. I am amazed at all the different ways people come up with to store supplies...I so appreciate having choices, as when you've been an artist/crafter as long as I have, you start running out of room! lol (does that mean I'll stop buying stuff?.....nope. I'm crowded, not crazy...lol)

      Thank you sooo much for commenting! I was just about to try her idea but I was worried about ink getting everywhere. I think I'm going to try velcro on the backs of me ink swatches instead, right on the coin sleeves. That way everything is together and I can put a piece of paper (easily changed out) facing the pads to keep them neat. Thanks again!

When you were talking about ink swatching I was thinking if you make 2x2 swatches you could actually slip them just behind the sponges so you would have the visual right there and not have to have more pages. I have most of the regular distress ink full pads and I bought a handle for each one. I do need a couple more. I thought it was a bit crazy but I just keep them in a box with the color on the handle. I decided to only use three handles for the oxides and have a foam for each. I used some plastic and put a little piece of Velcro for each foam pad and labeled it underneath, similar to yours but no pockets. What a mess! My fingers get so messy as the ink never seems to dry. I might change everything and use all my handles for the oxides and just a few for the regulars. That ink seems to dry way faster. I don't mind getting inky but I have to try so hard not to get my project dirty.
