Thanks for this. I've just done a small pcb in a regular frying pan on a gas hob with great success. PCB and solder stencil were made by PCBWay. I used low temperature solder paste by MG Chemicals. I put a layer of tin foil in the pan to protect it and put the assembled PCB on top. I started heating it on a small gas ring on low so the temperature slowly rose to about 160C, then switched to a bigger ring and pushed it up to about 190/200C. Looks perfect. Its got 0803 caps, 16 pin SOP and 6 pin SOIC packages. Even the surface mount DC jack socket looks well soldered.

Big thanks for taking the time to put together this video, Steve. I don't have a hot air gun, or a reflow oven, but I've been planning on trying this for a while now. I do have a skillet, a stove, a temperature gun, and I have a PCB with minuscule pads for a SHTC3 sensor. I'm hoping the chip didn't get damaged, fingers crossed! 73
Also -> consider using SALT instead of Sand (if you wish) others have suggested using Aluminium or Copper plates (Pans are never flat in my experience) You can however get Flat Induction cooker converters (metal that heats the surface under the non-Induction pan) these would be flat, as Induction cookers are flat, see Q below :D Thanks

low temp solder is only good for desoldering during rework and not for permanent soldering
Good idea! I see you've been experimenting with an SMD replacement for the PDIP AD8055 in the unity preamps?

:D Q -> can you use an induction cooker? I'm wondering if the EM waves could damage the IC's
