Steve ... A question just arose with a ham operator asking how to open the bandwidth of the swr sweep on a multiband yagi ... this answers the question perfectly with additional gain tracking using switch box inductance ...dont mess with the driven element except tune to the upper frq then tack the gain using small inductors down the band ... now Iam rethinking my thoughts on achieving endless wide band design ..Thanks so much .... !!!

OM Steve Nice review and chuck full of details and in dept analysis of the Shorty Forty ! yes the XM-240 and its predecessor the 40-2CD both are good performer's and enjoyed excellent sales when I was at Cushcraft.
I recall all the " Engineering Data Sheets " to try and beef up the product-----Best bet was when it was upgraded several notches to the XM-240 with a much more robust mounting system as used in the X series Beams of the late 1990's like the X7, X9 etc----Great job in the video ! 73's de WN1i

Steve, I follow you from the vy first day when u released ur webpage and still love it!
With a shorten 40m 2 ele (with HiQ Coils) my try and error experience are 100% equal to yours.
I spend WEAKS for tweaking and tuning only the reflector. Goal was to maximize the f/b and finding a "sweetspot", wich is elementary in western EU against the 40m QRM from east. (40m QRM situation is vy different/strange compared to the US/Canada)
During tuning process, I sometimes thought I'm ready for the madhouse
Finally I must say, that I learnd more then ever before, even others say I'm crazy. And - it was worth spending all that time and cranking/folding the tower uncountable times. Over a long period, I got clear positive results in practice. Beside measurements.
Such antenna is not a plug&play Yagi and I'm sure that many hams waisting performance. Your videos are pure gold for every antenna addict. Please keep on going!!!!
Thanks for all and your inspiration over the last, nearly two decades.
W6NL modified the XM240 to the max. (Sure u know it) Should I build a 40m shortyfourty again in my life, that would be my favourite.

Hello Steve. Very interesting. As I am refurbishing a Mosley Pro-67B your presentation helps me understand the antenna a bit. But, I am not sure to put it up asI do not use frequencies above 20m. The Mosley Super 33 would answer better my needs being a 20/40 meter Yagi with reasonable wind load. What can you tell about that antenna? Can something equivalent be purchased or built?
