    Hi Bud ,
    I really enjoyed this video , some good tips .. Im from Scotland but now live in the North East of England
    and enjoyed all my days fishing in fresh water lochs fishing for Brown rainbow and brook trout both bait fishing
    and later fly fishing within Scotland ..Now been here a couple of yrs and learning as i go about sea fishing
    as i never really got into sea fishing when in Scotland and wish i had .
    Anyhow have caught some different species from piers here , but yet to catch a decent Cod or a Pollack in which id like to catch and no doubt shall in time but ye interesting video , with some good tips added which is always good to learn from .

    Thanks for that. I do very occasional Pollack fishing in the Hebrides on holiday. Can be very frustrating, I came to the decision that it was 99% a question of whether the fish were there or not. I remember once catching a nice 4 pounder on my first cast. Then I decided to stop to clean and scale it before continuing. Stupid stupid stupid! Next cast I hooked and lost a big one in the kelp. That was that, they were gone. Still kicking myself, I'll never do that again. Hope I hit a shoal of takers like that again some day.
    Like I say, I believe it's mainly a question of being in the right place at the right time. I bet you've got that sussed. Will take your tips on board though, particularly the hook-in-the-lead one, brilliant.

    • @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785
      @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785  3 роки тому

      yes pretty sure you're correct one moment they are there the next they can be off somewhere else following the tide and food. You found out the hard way how hard the big ones are to land you need to be on the ball and get them up and out of the snags as quick as possible...over the moon you gained something from the video

    • @callumclark3358
      @callumclark3358 3 роки тому +1

      @@jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785 Yes, over the years I hooked two or three must have been double figures. Couldn't get them up. They seem to tangle in the kelp and then throw the hook somehow. I always used about 14lb nylon. Might take your advice and scale up.

    • @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785
      @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785  3 роки тому

      @@callumclark3358 yes ive watched them tangle they spin sideways and wrap it around the body...very clever you can wait until they think all is clear and just as they release themselves pull on them quickly...doesn't always work but if you are patient worth a try and heavier line will help you

    Hi Viking,
    Been watching your vids for years and finally heading up to Skye a week on Monday, travelling from the north east. Was hoping to do some spinning and some bait fishing. The tides are huge the week we are there any advice on marks to consider or totally ignore due to the size of the tides.
    We are staying in the north of the island east of Dunvegan so we have decent access to both the west and the east side of Skye. Thanks for your vids and we’ve totally took your advice on tackle etc just can’t wait to get there and hopefully the weather is kind and catch loads of fish.
    Thanks Gav

      @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Gav glad you like the vids. .dont worry too much about big tides in my videos the tides were huge too....you can fish neist point on the flood the tide isnt as strong but give the ebb a miss though its impossible to fish properly... elgol isnt really affected by tide no worries there and loch dunvegan has little tide too.. rubbha hunish is worth a go on the ebb but give flood a miss its crazy lol.....yes use your head and pick your times you'll be fine...Im away tomorrow to Skye should have vid and more info next weekend

      Hi mate you can buy the abu devil in various casting weights but mine was rated to cast a lure up to 60 grams....tbh 60g is my preferred weight for a lure the reason is I can cast them a good distance even when windy and they sink pretty fast to the bottom lighter lures i find are hard to control but everyone has different opinions

    Hello Jarrow, a quick question: is the fact that you put the hook in the sinker to cast really effective? And by dint of throwing, transplanting elsewhere? And do you have a tip for the buldo?
    Otherwise, well done for your videos!

    • @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785
      @jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785  3 роки тому

      Hi Gary yes its a great method if you need to cast a redgill lure a long distance...need to fish deep water or fish into strong tides. I would recommend using a minimum of 25lb monofiliment line around 5 or 6ft in length as lighter lines tangle.. but yes its very effective with a fairly slow retrieve at the same pace
