It looks mechanically solid. But I have yet to play a roguelike shooter that succeeded in presenting a world I actually wanted to explore. Here, again, we have an endless series of cargo bays. I just always wish the levels were designed by people. I wishlisted anyway, maybe I'll try it.
@navalgrippage2099 I have been meaning to check that out. Also after I posted this I remembered the Remnant games which do a pretty good job with their procedural world.
That's about right. The concept of these things is like a corridor which has its exit directly linked to its entrance (an FPS centipede?🤣). Murphy and his law just had to get into all the retro-boomer-shooter world. Whaddayaknow...Something looks too good to be true? Well, it is. Compliments of Chef Murphy. Otherwise, i'd totally play something like this - if it was a properly made single-player FPS.
I'm not big on roguelike/lites, but it looks ok. I really wish they'd just make another Tribes or Fallen Empire: Legions (which was made by the og Tribes devs). Great video as always.
The more I play them the more I like them, but it's so easy to miss the target when making a roguelike. This one has some improvement potential no doubt, but being just a demo I'm not ready to say it's bad yet :D
That's the one thing I don't like about "modern" shooters, is the movement speed. I hate feeling like I am tromping through knee deep mud with each step. Aside from that though, this is a pretty good game. Demo was fun.
the too long no time to read of it all is: they have abandoned everything they have tried to make tribes 3 is just lucky its still even going servers wise
and trust me i want them to prove me wrong cause its bullshit what they are doing practically scammed the entire tribes community out of like 20 $ some will say it was truly worth but realistically its still not ok
the moral of the story: sure this can be cool and all but they dont deserve another chance honestly with how they hardly even gave anything any time just tried to cut corners beyond belief this also was once abbandoned and just goin back into it for who even knows what i wouldnt trust it you could be here all day talkin about all the wrongs
!! 70 SUBS TO GO! AS OF NOW !! It sounds mean but i would charge about 15 bucks to play this. It's not going to fly far with the competition it has. What i can see is something like a unity fps starter set kit of models, 7 boxes and corridors, plus 3 shaders and questionably average executed mechanics. If the game has more to offer, i'd like to see that.
Gunfire Reborn is probably the only safe-bet recommendation I can think of. The genre doesn't have many standouts in the fps category. Witchfire, which just came out in early access looks to be an exception, but isn't a true roguelike, and more of an extraction shooter. You can do a quick google search to find more of larger titles, if you're so inclined.
Roboquest. Excellent movement, pretty good weapon balance, most classes are fun to play and have great kits, and you can take different routes each run.
Ziggurat 1 & 2 are pretty good games. They have magic and stuff in them too but it is still an fps. I would definitely pick the 2nd game over the 1st. You can always go back if you really want to...
They've only put out 2 games. One of which was Tribes 3 and while I hate how that went down, the game died super quickly and nothing the devs did helped. At some point you have to cut your losses, right? Same with Starsiege Dead Zone, the game this is based off of. Now I'm not particularly fond of these devs, but I also don't quite think they are trying to scam people. Yet. We will see what happens with this game an Ultra Strikers I suppose.
If it's done well and the shooting etc. feels good, I'm all for a rogue-like. I mean I play every bullet heaven game released and there are a TON of them now. So obviously I like to punish myself lol
Indie developers only have a limited amount of resources. They have to be smart and work around it. The design of rougelikes are very accessible for these indie guys. Unfortunately it seems that rougelikes are developed by most devs. They need to brainstorm a new approach.
@@DannyBreadmaker Modders have the most "limits" - and we work for free, yet nonetheless success is dependent the amount of talent, quality standards and work ethic. The concepts that are completely alien to many (or most?) devs of these commercial products. Hard Work - is the toughest final boss that they never managed to beat. Laziness, however, is always and infinitely eager for new pets in her dungeon.
Know that this developer has a horrific track record of abandoning/cancelling games. Prophecy (cancelled self-titled game) Steam release date June 2020 (Alive for one month before it was removed from Steam) Starsiege: Raiders (cancelled) Alpha Tested in 2022 (Cancelled and later re-branded to Starsiege: Deadzone) Starsiege: Deadzone (cancelled) Steam release date July 2023 (Cancelled and pulled from Steam) Tribes 3: Rivals (abandoned) Alpha Tested in 2023 Released March 2024 (Servers are still up, but the game is no longer getting updated) Ultra Strikers (cancelled) Alpha Tested in 2024 (Cancelled and never made it to Steam) Deadzone: Rogue (in-development) Coming Soon! (Most of the assets of this game will be recycled from Deadzone) I have zero faith in this company or any product they put out; because so far it's been quick money grabs, games to build hype; and then they never follow through with any of them; and the ones they do, they abandon.
Devs of starseige tribes? Idk who was online gaming b4 cod back then with me but starseige tribes was right up there in comp with unreal tourney and quakes..one of my fav gaming time memories.. o li e gaming was better back in the day imo
no not them just the devs of once hi rez which id say they still are hi rez cause they cause they hardly developed tribes 3 on top of that hardly developed another game that was like a stupid football game and then go back to this which once got abbandoned on as well wouldnt give them a dollar
Yes, it's the spiritual successor of sorts to Starsiege Dead Zone. The devs have a history of just giving up on their games, which you know, depending on the situation I understand. But I also understand people who don't trust devs who do this. As for Dead Zone, I forget which game came out the next week but it utterly destroyed the player base within a month and the game was dead - so the devs decided to pull support very quickly because they felt they couldn't recover from that. Which is a shame because Dead Zone had a fun gameplay loop and there were actually people playing it at launch. The whole extraction shooter thing, isn't for me mostly because of the PVP involved normally. Dead Zone didn't have PVP, at least I don't remember it having it (it's been like a year since I played it lol) so it was just a PVE extraction style game, which is great. So it's a shame the game died so fast. This game is just a straight up rouge-like based in the same universe (I think) but the gun play and game play are all really polished and feel great - as you can see in the video. I have high hopes for this one, and since its single player only (again, I think?) The devs have a better shot of supporting it. If they drop support quickly, then yeah, they are doing everything the detractors say they are doing.
Naahhh....Doom3 combat against Imps was a thing of beauty. Still is. Those feint shots were to die for. Excellent AI. Make it triple the worth with the right mods. This, on the other hand, is more like shooting toy soldiers with a toy cannon while lying in a "bunker"under the bed, at 4 years old🤣.
Thanks for watching broski! Make sure to share your thoughts on the game in the comments

Returnal is one of my best picks for combo of lore, exploration and gameplay

Have you tried Witchfire yet? Deadzone is fun as hell but yeah its pretty... Uninspired art wise.
Sure fun to play, though.
@@claymang haven't tried Witchfire yet but it's on my wishlist, have heard good things
Wow! I have never heard about this game. Deadzone Rogue like System Shock with roguelite. Already added to wishlist. Thank you.
My pleasure broski! :)
Did you sayed "scheiße"? :D good video
haha I most likely did! Sometimes I turn German, other times I'm an old mafia from the 40's and one you least expect it I turn Spanish haha xD

This looks fun, I’ll be checking it out!
such a sucker for roguelite fps. i think deadlink is one of my top played games on pc
Roguelike shooters can be VERY hit or miss (some pun intended) 😜
With regards to gameplay - or to the engine? (Pun intended)
i really hope this game doesnt get left behind because its pretty fire.

oh boy I sure love roguelikes
downloading demo now looks good
Looks Good! Never played Tribe but i might like This! Not Perfect but I see the Potential!
No interest in people who ditched tribes.
This man wants a light level and he directly picked the hand cannon ! I see what you did here 😅

Voila, instant roguelike. 🤪
rly like the game and gunplay is amazing
I was all in, until "roguelite"
Understand, but there are some good ones out ther Sulfur "cough" "Cough" :D
I’m telling you right now, deadlink got this game beat 100/0
Deadlink is in a class of it's own. One of the best :)
If only it weren't roguelike :
Yup. Worst genre in videogame history.
I'm on board for most everything with this game except for being a roguelike.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEVELOPER
just search for info, they abandoned like every game they made.

No, never buy. Prophecy is abandoning too much games. Their business behavior = scam.
Seriously, I don't know why anyone would trust these devs when they've now abandoned what, three games back-to-back almost immediately after release?
I wonder if the devs will steal my money with this like they did Starsiege Deadzone
We cant know unless we give em our money 🥲

Why i dont play roguelikes, and the level design is randomized crap. Cute pistol though.
Levels dont seem to be random though. Enemies yes, but not the rooms
Hm So they took starsiege deadzone assets and turned it into roguelike
Never played that, but looking it up now. Yeah, looks like a follow up but far to similar
