I've made this twice using homegrown benne, grits from homegrown and homeground Sea Island white flint corn, and Chesapeake bayside oysters collected near our house. It is absolutely excellent. Very hearty and flavorful. Do not omit the green onion or lemon. They are essential to the taste, but let the soup mellow for five minutes once you add the lemon or it seems too prominent. If you have the ingredients (sesame is a pale substitute for benne; benne can be bought from Anson Mills) you should absolutely consider making this. I used an equal amount of home smoked turkey thigh with some added butter instead of the bacon because we have a serious red meat allergy (alpha galactose intolerance) in the house. It probably tastes somewhat different than the soup in the video, but is still very good. Thank you, Chef Brock!

This sounds like a great and easy recipe, it's too bad this video doesn't list any of the ingredients and this recipe isn't listed on the foodthinkers website.
