I have a re imagined Merlin (think wizard Hugh Hefner) and one of the regular things is three flying broadswords at his control- it is so much fun to use.
As a Bard, I love the way you think. Blade Barrier was one of my favourite defensive spells to throw out! Use it to block a doorway and next round hammer the enemies on the other side with Fireball or Poor Mans Fireball (Shatter)
Robin strikes me more like an artificer who's atuned to 5 dancing blades, and a nurolink (i can't think of anything in D&D that works but, I'm assuming it would be similar to a prostetic and take atuntent slot)
