  • Today I review the Rev'It Tornado 2 Riding Jacket and Pants. Why not the version 3 you ask? Well - it wasn't around three years ago when I bought this. But fear not, the core of the Jacket and Pants isn't that far off from version 2 - and you'll get a good idea of what to expect. After purchasing what at the time I thought was one of the most expensive jackets and pants on the market, I quickly put it on and headed for the dirt and gravel. Having only been riding a motorcycle for 3 weeks - I thought this would be the end all of protective gear - and for the next 34 months and 50,000 miles - I was going to find out if it was. Could this suit be a 12 month / 4 season suit in the heart of Missouri? Could it hand the rain with it's fancy liner? Temperatures from 16 F to 103F? Humidity that makes a wet diaper look dry? What about that amazing worn out asphalt gray color that made me blend so perfectly well with the road until my pants got stained with dirt? It was time to find out and make this suit my daily commuter, my adventure riding gear for week long trips, and my dual sport bounce off of dirt, rocks, and trees protective suit. Could it hold up? Could it make it? Well - it has visited 16 different states, ridden on 6 different motorcycles, been tossed into the dirt, creeks, rocks, trees, mud, pavement, and gravel - in other words - the Rev'It Tornado 2 has been through the ringer. So if you're curious if the Tornado has what it takes to be an ADV/DS suite for you - stick around.

Good, it’s only been hot here for ages so it’s keeping me cool - got an over jacket for when it rains rather than the liner. Waiting for it to get colder

Thanks - I ended up with the Rev'it Dirt Series - I have only had it for 6 months now - but getting ready to do a review on that as well. Gear is just too darn hard to figure out, and too expensive to make mistakes.

Great review. I’m looking at this for hot humid conditions. I have a sand 4 H2O in Europe which has 3 layers. Threw away the thermal liner. Just use a puffer when I need it. The waterproof is properly waterproof and I just use it on top of the jacket. Don’t see any benefit in using it zipped in and it’s big enough and quicker on/off using on top.

I would take that rain proof liner for the inside and wear it on the outside of the jacket to keep it from getting soaked.

Great idea. I had trouble getting it over the jacket with the armor in as it isnt just a liner - but a thermal insulated second jacket …. I am also a large bellied guy. For a short time it would be better than nothing though for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting- I truly appreciate it.

If it holds up to “Two Chains” it will hold up to anything

LMAO - the only moto gear I’ve owned longer is my BMW touring boots - but only because I never wear them.

Great Question - Short Answer - I am switching to Knox for my tops, and still haven't solved the pants issue. Long Answer ----- So I ended up getting the Rev'It Dirt Series Pants & Jacket, as well as the Rev'It Prometheus Armored shirt. I wish I could say I was happy with that purchase, but it has been the worst purchase decision I have made to date regarding gear. I still use the Dirt Series Pants in the winter when I need to wear my Knee Braces, and the Jacket over an armored shirt if doing highway and need abrasion resistance. I don't use the Jackets armor as there is no way to include a back protector in it and it doesn't zip to the matching pants - so unless you are wearing a chest / back protector with the jacket - it is worthless. I have since then shifted my focus to a more modular approach and have gone with the Knox Urban Pro MK3 (AAA Rated for impact and slide). This allows me to wear anything I want over the top of it, or nothing at all - and still have the same protection as if I was wearing a full jacket. I know just add a shirt, a winter coat, a rain jacket to my top for the weather or type of riding I am doing. Re pants - If I am riding ADV style and don't need braces - I wear a used pair of Klim GTX pants. If I am going DS - I use the knee braces and the Dirt Series Rev'It pants without knee armor (and rain pants if needed and they get drenched in under 15 min of rain). Thanks for watching - I am hoping to get an update and review of my purchase and use of gear over the past 2 years her in the next month or two.

Curious what you settle on. Ive been looking at the Adventure Spec line up as well. They seem to do it all - but not a perfect fit as my riding temps seem to be a bit hotter than theirs.
