True but the game in the beginning needed rpg style and optional battle royale maybe like genshim impact or better.

That and the devs were terrible at maintaining the game. They never added a single new element, and only focused on pushing out battlepasses and new skins

@@rogerroger2377 They had over 2 years to push out new content to keep players engaged. The biggest complaint I remember when I was non stop playing the game was about the lack of content. It was all a developer issue at the end of the day. I do believe wholeheartedly that they purposefully cut the game to make room for other projects though.

You can still play the game thanks to the community, I just found out yesterday .v.
This game was so fun but the developers just stopped updating it leading to a declining player base that got it shut down
You can still play it because the devs uploaded it for the community to run their own servers. The discord server for it has around 4k active members
Personally, I think it was the best Battle Royale.
Beautiful map, Fun mobility, a Short and Memorable list of Weapons/Abilities which were fun to execute and satisfying to counter.
I hope to play it again some day in a LAN lobby, or better yet, someone mods it into an RPG or a small MMO.
I think a story mode for Spellbreak would have saved the game. The art style and the world were there, so all they would've needed was a compelling story/ lore. (Which I know they attempted to create, but i believe doing it through the Battle Passes weekly challenges is a poor choice).
There's a website where you can play it, the devs put it there as a final commemoration to the fans because it had a dedicated player base, just wasn't big enough. This was also the most fun br I played while it was out.

This was my favorite battle royal when i was a kid and just playing imaginary fames by myself i thought of a concept alot like spellbreak but more like the hunger games and from the time spell break launched till its end it was my favorite battle royal i miss it very much
The art style is very Netflix dragon prince and i love it, i wish it became a show, such cool designs gone to waste

The learning curve is too high for casual players like me.
It wasn’t shut down for any reason except that blizzard bought them and they had to stop working on it they also had a thriving player base well enough to keep themselves alive
They had a very good system. Made it fun combining different elements
U can still play it on pc, there is a community server and u are able to use every single skin

my heart broke when this game shut down, i spent months mastering the frost glove to snipe players only to log on one day to see the fateful 'last few months' message. such a shame, the best first person battle royal of all time IMO
That’s not why they shut down though. The company was purchased by Blizzard and eventually the devs got relocated to WoW, meaning the game was to be shut down.

This game is very very good and unique. But they not promoted much so less people know about this game exists.
It’s soo shocking that it failed… the game was a lot of fun and soooo unique for a battle royale it was eclipse by Amongus fortnite, and genshin impact at the time

i feel like what made it fail was the fact that it was a battle royale, and the gameplay wasn't very unique. if people wanted to play a battle royale, they'd just play fortnite or something

I loved it, it died too fast sadly
It’s been since 2018 not 2020 just also it had large dedicated fan base and peaked at 5 mill. The reason it died poor planing and lackluster connections
