I live down the street from both Waterloo and End of an Ear. I think End of an Ear is too quiet but has better prices and Waterloo is more expensive but has a wider selection.
+Nathan Goodwin very true Nathan! I'll be having a new video about Waterloo very soon! Keep an eye out for it! :)
Nathan Goodwin ......... too quiet?
atomicbrain9401 yeah. It’s uncomfortable to talk in there because it’s so quiet.
Like you want to hear other people talking? They've played music for the entirety of every time I've ever been there. I live and work down the street also. I'm not sure why on earth you would want to hold a conversation while flipping though.
My son and I go there all the time & love it. They also continuously have the best selection of laserdisc movies I've ever seen in Austin.
That's a really cool record shop! I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We have two very good options for record stores. We have "Corner Record Shop" which is seriously the mother of all record shops that I've ever visited. They have a limited selection of new vinyl, but they have a huuuuuge stock of used vinyl. Mostly albums. The place has 3 rooms; One room for 12" albums and DVD's. One room for 45's, 8-tracks, VHS tapes, laserdiscs, and some used stereo equipment. Another room for high end stereo equipment.
The other store is called Vertigo Records. They specialize in sealed un-opened and new vinyl releases, but they have quite a bit of older used vinyl well.
Kick ass! Reminds me of my favorite shop, Reckless Records in Chicago!
+HDM Reviews Reckless Records! Sounds like an awesome place!
I adore Reckless, and go there every single time I’m in Chicago, but I like Dusty Groove even more.
I visited this great record shop named Darkside Records, which, is in the Hudson Valley area of NY. They have cassettes, vinyl (45rpm, 75rpm, & normal 33rpm LP records), CDs, turntables (Crosleys were there, too :/), and movies on DVD/Blue-ray and VHS. I bought Odessa and Children of the World both by The BeeGees. They also had a listening station.
I checked out End of and Ear when I was in Austin last month. It was everything you said it was. They had a great selection of vinyl and their prices were reasonable as well.
Usually I come away from watching your videos thinking 'Oo, I need to check that out,' but this is the first time I got to say 'Oo, I've got that one, and it's awesome, good choice!' - Brian Eno's 'Music for Airports' is truly gorgeous! Hope you enjoy it :)
Thanx for visiting!
This store is my dream! Or everyone that listens to vinyl!
I swear to god your a lord of music. I can't get enough of these darn records! Thank you for brining us these beautiful videos. You deserve MUCH MUCH More subs!
2:42 that hip looking mug matches your hip looking shirt
+PAul Scott thank you good sir! That mug is definitely coffee/tea worthy.
The last time I went to a vinyl store was at half price books.
I got a lot of Michael Jackson 7" singles
+ilikegreninja2222 :D awesome! Half Price is great!
There's a great record store in Oxford, MS called The End of All Music. I visit sometimes.
I go to a place called top spins in Appleton Wisconsin. They sell literally anything that’s vintage. They even have a wall for laser discs!
almost a year ago today i was at end of an ear, that’s so wild. their shop is probably one of the nicest i’ve been to in atx/ntx
Luis Lastname how can it be ALMOST a year ago today thougj
Luis Lastname u mean exactly a year ago
If you are ever in Miami make sure to swing by a place called Sweat Records, the place is absolutely dope!
I was just at a "wrecka stow" in Houston this past weekend...it's called Vinal Edge.
I was disappointed you didn't go into the back room with all the vintage audio equipment. It's awesome! Unless that's a video by itself.
Here in Winnipeg, Canada, I go to Into the Music, which has been around for 30 years, as well as Music Trader, which has a great bargain bin. I also go to record fairs.
VHS section is cool. Travel all that way down 2 Texas you should purchase vinyl, despite the sun
I have a great suggestion for a song of the day...The Doors Blue Sunday..It's one of mine favourites that gets me in a good mood whilst I drink my coffee..I love your channel and I have bought some cool vinyl because of it..
I'm from Texas but for some reason, I've never actually been to Austin. 🙈 Although if I ever do get a chance to visit there, I'll definitely be on the look out for this shop! 👍🏼
+Hector Gonzalez that was my first ever visit to Austin! I'd mostly spent time in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and a little of Dallas.
Vinyl Eyezz That's cool! You should visit Houston someday!
Concerto in Amsterdam is by far the biggest shop I have ever been to.
Been to End of an Ear. Killer shop!!
+seqouiaflame awesome! It's a great place! 😄
Oh I went to Sig’s Lagoon, a record store in Houston downtown, and I love it.
I'm in Waco TX so gonna have to make a trip, thanks for sharing :) my local one spin connection is pretty good for me also.
Oh shoot I went to that same record store when I went to go see Slayer in Austin, I was a blue to get a hold of the newest ghost album and a vintage Adictz record.
Got some nice choices that you listen to with Ambient music, Brian Eno & Robert Rich, excellent choices! Other great choices would be Hans Joachim Roedelius, Harold Budd, Jon Hassell, just to name a few more.
Just went to Zia Records in AZ today and found a record I've been really wanting!
+Matthew Sullivan nice! Which one did you pick up?
Vinyl Eyezz I listen to a lot of metal and one of my favorite bands - The Black Dahlia Murder - just released a new album. I got it on this really cool clear red pressing!
Where you say to hit the bell, UA-cam covered it with your channel logo, the VE in red. You should watch the video signed out so you can see how your viewers see it (instead of as the uploader) and then arrange your ending shot to work around that. (might be my first comment on one of your videos, but I've been watching them a few months now)
Yaay, Brian Eno! Love him and I have that CD too. I paid far less than $12.99 😁
If you liked Music for Airports, may I suggest Eno's Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks. 💚 It has that ambient "feel" with some musical twists. Fave track-Silver Morning.
+Phoenix85006 Yes!! That one's on my list too!!
Em cada vídeo novo que você posta, eu absorvo enormes dicas lindas de música ambiente... muito obrigado !
awesome review of End the record store!
+DJ Trish thank you Trish! Glad you liked it!
If you ever hit england theres a place called cheltenham. In that town is browsers paradise. Vinyl heaven.
Wild idea i thought of that i may try in the future to protect my new records on a hot day if i have to travel. Invest in a Yeti cooler. put records in there to help protect them from the hot sun, If ot can keep beer cold on a hot day then why not vinyl?
+Randomness Bryan that's a good idea! 💡😄 Keep that Vinyl cool & warp free!
I love Mondo/Deathwaltz.Have a few soundtracks from them!
+gorefreak1970rb nice! Which is your favorite?
There's a really cool independent record shop in Kirkland, WA (Seattle area) that is very similar to this place. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!
Lunchbox Records in Charlotte, NC is still my fav
HI Jarrett
We don't have anything like that here In the UK (On that scale). Also some VHS tapes are really rare now as they were caught In the (Video Nasty) era. That was here In the UK. They pulled all the tapes out of Circulation chopped them up and put them out again. Only some Tapes did not get a second Issue and are Highly sort after. Did the prices on the tapes reflect this or were they all one price??. If You are looking for Ambient music You should check out. Tangerine Dream, Orbital, CAN, I think You will enjoy them. Ta for now. And keep tellin' (No G) Us about Vinyl.
That's End of an Ear's new location I go there and Waterloo...
I love your channel! i have to tell you,...your suggestions have opened my ears to a new level of music: Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Agnes Obel, and revisited(an now love) The Cure. I just wan to ask you if you have found that using higher end speaker wire makes a difference and if so, do you recommend any? I didn't see it listed in your "my vinyl gear" section.
Mondo deathwaltz is a great label. Reality Check by Wojciech Golczewski is a great synthwave album!
so have you checked out Bjork yet?
Great Video Question Is it better to use a preamp and not use the integrated phono jacks on a receiver amp combo for better sound control or does it matter.
+John Them it really depends, if your receiver has a Preamp built in, then you might go for that. But some hardcore audiophiles prefer to have a separate external Preamp. It's really a matter of preference and/or budget. Good luck John!
I have really enjoyed your videos and have used a few to select and set up a project carbon dc turntable that you recommended. thank you so much. I have a Oknyo receiver and i have a preamp not being used. Just wondered if anyone has tested to see if their was a advantage or not. Great channel keep the vinyl spinning,
Vinyl Eyezz You don't need to be a hardcore audiophile to buy an external pre amp
You should check out Harmonia and Eno'76 - Tracks and Traces
+Noah Bonvissuto I'll check that out thank you! 😊
Nice video! When is the shellac video coming out?
Yo Jarrett!!! I'm new to the vinyl world. How are you able to tell what is an original print or a re-issue when shopping?
Are Victrola record players made like Crosleys? I really want to know.
Your shirt matches the logo of the shop
+Brendan very true! Figured I'd try something other than black today lol

Great video! Awesome store!
Hey so I'm new to collecting vinyl and I have a Jensen turntable (not sure of the model or anything) and I know it's a piece of garbage but I don't have a lot of money, how long can I wait to upgrade without damaging my records and what's a cheaper turntable good for beginners. Thanks!
HI JARRETT....UP IN CANADA THER WAS A BIG CHAIN STORE CALLED SAM THE RECORD MAN...STARTED IN THE 1950'S. LAST WEAK I WENT TO THE LAST REMAINING STORE IN BELVILLE ONTARIO.(WICKAPEDIA WILL TELL YOU). THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY JUST OPENED 2 NEW STORES BUT THEY COULD NOT USE THE WORD SAM. SO THEY CALED THE STORES.....NOW AND THEN....I AM JUST GLAD IT IS COMING BACK HOODAT
@Mr.New, Do a video on Vinyl-Disc, combined editions
Omg you like Windhand! What’s your favourite doom metal band?
+Brad Underwood been really into OM lately and of course Black Sabbath, but Windhand it's awesome too! It's probably the heaviest I've listened too lol

I have that really cool floaty thingy by Pro-ject :)
I have an original copy of Music For Films, but it's not in very good condition.
LP sleeves are cheap. it's usually a $8 for a 25 pack
3:00 wait do they sell that little amplifier that is sitting on top of that dayton b-652 speaker? because that is the lepai/lepy LP-2020A+/2020A/2024. l have never seen one of those amps in a brick and mortar store, l thought you could only get them online. it's kind of funny because both that amp and those speakers are a perfect match for each other, people pair them all of the time. l think that combo sounds like ass since they are both very budget products, but l have never seen that amp or those speakers in a brick and mortar store before.
Electronics For Fun yeah, we sell Lepais! We are probably one of the only brick and mortars that do. We have a lot of people who come in looking to assemble a complete stereo system, and we don't like selling Crosleys, so the Lepai + Dayton combo, while not ideal, is the cheapest way to get started. One can always upgrade!
l take it you work in this store then? and yeah a lepai and a pair of dayton's will beat the shit out of any onboard speakers with record players. they are great budget combo and most people think they sound great, l have been in audio my whole life and have tuned ears so l can pick out every little thing in a system. they just don't sound great to me personally, although many people would be more than happy with them and they are perfect for a budget vinyl setup. l was just amazed to see that though, who is your supplier for those things?
BTW l have a crossly turntable. it's one of those modern things that looks like it's really old, l found it in the trash and it was practically brand new so l brought it home with me. it's not nearly as bad as a crossly cruiser, but it's still pretty bad. l got it for playing old records that pop and crackle and some old christmas records around the holidays, those shitty speakers built into the thing and the popping and terrible frequency response makes it more authentic sounding. l love listening to old christmas songs with all the pops and cracks and sound that is so muddery you can barely understand the guy singing, it bring back memories of christmas when l was a kid in the 90's because the "modern christmas" genera didn't really exist yet. we would listen to bing crosby and burl ives. infact it's the only time of the year when l listen to records, for the rest of the time l am listening to 24-bit 48Khz WAV files.
Anybody have any opinions on the Technics SL 230?
Have U checked out Dr. Records in Bangor Maine
