If the patient is strong enough to make a bridge like that I should think it would be possible to put them in a wheelchair & take them to a toilet that has been designed so the patient can be slid onto & off the toilet with ease. Or preferably, use a commode like wheel chair which has an opening in the bottom so that it can be wheeled into position above a toilet, so that the patient does not need to be transferred to the toilet seat from the wheelchair at all. This method has the advantage of allowing the patient to feel they are in normal surroundings & have the privacy of the toilet cubicle. Some patients cannot go on a bedpan, its too unfamiliar.
