This is so fabulous, very nicely instructed. I have a 6 month miniature poodle and I’d like very much to be able to do his groomed teddy bear look on going. My question is , how to get him to stay still , be relaxed as we go along ? Imagine starting out slowly and do not want to frighten him
Yes, when you begin to groom him start slow and reward the good behaviour. You may need someone to help hold him. Or you can use a grooming table with a grooming loop and arm, this will help keep him steady💕 lots of patience and rewards💕
Really great video thank you. I’m a beginner so I won’t be attempting the full cut initially but some really great instruction for all levels. Just one question, you mentioned being careful about avoiding getting the tip of the tail caught between the tooth combs. What about nipples on female dogs, what technique should I use to groom the belly and chest of a female dog to avoid injury. I guess the same applies to the ‘privates’ of a male dog.
The tail contains bone and nerves this is why extra care must be taken. Yes, care should be taken around the nipple area on female and males. You will find when clipping the nipple areas if you are using a longer blade length just gently glide your over the nipple area, if you are using a short blade length you should clip around the nipples. Or if the nipples are large care should be taken when clipping around or over them. When clipping the private areas on a male dog, it’s best to clip the area clipping with the direction of the hair growth, clipping with the hair growth (towards the front legs)will ensure you will not irritate that area💕 I hope this helps and makes sense 💕 please reach out if you require further help💘
I use your colognes and shampoos/conditioners every day but hadn't realised you had a youtube channel! youtube recommended me this video last night, so I watched it, and thought 'oh, that's a new way of setting the pattern for teddy legs, might try that out on the groodle I have to do tomorrow [ie, this morning]'. Forgot, of course - but our two 3pm dogs were two toy poodles we'd never done before, and they wanted teddy legs and face over poodle feet, so I said to my fellow groomer 'how about you do both heads and I do both bodies/legs so we know they'll match?' Got much better results from this technique than I've had from what I've been previously taught (starting the blend far lower down) so I think I'll be sticking with this in future!
That’s amazing ! I’m so pleased UA-cam suggested our channel to you, and happy you enjoyed our vid, we have loads of grooming tutorials on our channel you may enjoy.
thank you, yes. Devana is so perfect to groom. I would to keep grooming Bella and she will eventually sit still as she will begin to understand what is expected of her.

Hi, I have a toy poodle and attempting to groom at home during the pandemic. I bought some cordless clippers from amazon, but they aren't great. I've looked at the Oster 3000i but they're too expensive for me. Could you recommend any quality clippers that are a little cheaper for home use please? Thanks Sally
Hi 💕 do you have blades? Because if you don’t have blades I would recommend Wahl super groom. The Wahl super groom have different lengths snap on comb attachment that slide over the blade that is on the clippers.
Hi! Would you be able to tell me what size snap on attachment for home clippers would give similar results for body and legs? I too looked at the oster 3000 and will have to save up for that one! 🤞🏻💕
Hi! Great video. I have a question about the clipping around the eye. If you have a dog that jumps and is not confident around the eye area… would you recommend the clippers as I worry about catching the eyelid or worse. Are they safer than scissors?
Thank you💕 yes, if you have a dog that’s jumpy and a bit nervous I would definitely use scissors as the clippers can make a bit of noise and your dog may react worse. Try letting your dog sniff the scissors and gently touch the hair you would like to remove with closed scissors, this will help your dog get use of the scissors and once your dog is used to that process try opening the scissors and she how your dog reacts to it, if your dog is still jumpy, you will have to star the process again to help him get used of the process of grooming and scissoring around the eye area.
