Me. I have had my LCD Steam Deck for about a year and it is still going strong with zero issues. Congrats. BTW I also get the whole working adult thing, with a family which is why portables actually allow me a way to play my games. Also, I too think the LCD screen on the Deck looks great especially after the firmware update.
For me, the biggest reason I saved up for the OLED model was the battery life difference. It also charges a lot quicker and has a 90hz screen. That being said. I enjoyed the LCD model just as much, and I wouldn’t notice a difference if I hadn’t upgraded.

I lucked out and got a 64GB LCD Steam Deck for $279 about 8 months ago. I put a 1TB SSD in it for $75 (Silicon Power UD90 1TB) and a 1TB microSD card for $55 (TeamGroup Pro). In total I spent just under $450 for a LCD Steam Deck with 2TB of storage.
That’s funny - I also got a 64Gb from GameStop about 8 months ago and installed the exact same SiliconPower NVME drive and TeamGroup SD card. My only problem is having too many games installed and not enough time to play!
I just purchased steam deck refurbished 64GB from valve, for $100 less than new 64GB deck. Upgrade the ssd to 1 TB, change the back plate and put the case and screen protector. Install emu deck, install win 11 on external ssd, link the game from valve, connect the bluetooth keyboard and mouse, external monitor. Not all games play smoothly there is some quirks but I amaze at how flexible the system is.
I compared my LCD model to the OLED of a colleague of mine, but the difference is HUGE. The OLED screen feels sharper somehow, even though the resolution is the same, the colors are waaaay above the LCD model too. The battery is also a night and day difference. If you have the disposable income I'd just get the OLED if you don't have a deck already, it's worth it. I won't buy the OLED because I already have the LCD, though.
For anyone interested, in the Steam Store until July 11, 2024, the 64 GB & 512 GB LCD Steam Decks are 15% off! That makes the 64 GB Steam Deck only $296.65 and the 512 GB Steam Deck only $381.65. These are new unites and as of 6/26/24 they are in stock. The LCD Steam Deck is an incredible value in gaming. I hope that helps someone.
