Currently using the mate 20 pro. I'm either going for this or the s21 ultra. I'm sad that the price keeps rising though, the mate 20 pro launched at €900 so that's a €300 increase in 2 years

It will be great to see Huawei compete with other brands once they make their own chips and use their own OS
Problem is that no company in China has machines that can use such advanced nm process. Otherwise Huawei wouldn't care about ban. From what I've read they have started their own hardware research but they are still few years behind. In 5 years us won't have a chance tho

@god o Randomness As far as I know the Kirin is made by HiSilicon, that is owned by Huawei. And because of the damn us ban they can't buy the resources they need to produce the chips.

What a sad situation for consumers really. The Mate 40 Pro + is most likely the best smartphone atm specs/feature wise.
Once you go Huawei, you never go back...
when my P20 Pro dies I wont buy another phonefrom them ... wonderful though it is, and the camera still amazes me ... there's just too many reasons not buy from them anymore.

Still rocking my Huawei Mate 20 Pro, still a beast, camera performance is still very great, performance is still very snappy, and overall is still a very solid piece of smartphone and of course there is still Google inside

Hardware wise, this is undoubtedly among the best. True stereo speakers, 5nm chip, gorgeous design etc.
I think the fact that it is free of Google lock-ins is a positive, and I would tend to choose it for that reason. I chose the Mate 30 Pro 5G/512G for that specific reason. I don't miss any of the Google apps - the web apps work just fine.
The bigger issues are the banking apps...especially banks like Monzo that don't have web sites/app at all, so there's no alternative (hence my plan to switch banks away from Monzo).

I've always had Huawei/Honor phones in the past but like many others I've jumped ship to OnePlus this time because of the Google issues. If things change I'd certainly consider going back

There are very easy ways to get Google apps on it.. So the only downside is steep price. Personally I would take it over Samsung
check "ben's gadget" channel first impression/hands-on of mate40pro...he mentioned which gapps can't be sideloaded/installed like drive.

I own a Huawei P40 Pro and trying to install Gapps after newer firmware is not really really sth I'd call "Very Easy Ways". Doesn't work after tons of methods - changing back the time, trying all the Apks versions and that stupid Huawei won't even let you rollback firmware. Now that P40 Pro is not more than touchscreen device that has good camera rusting in my drawer.

@@ZawYe Try Googlefier from XDA, just came out and works on the P40 series with newer firmware. You don't need Gapps anyway, there's UA-cam Vanced which is better with no ads, for everything else there's Appgallery, Petal Search and Aurora Store. Using the P40 Pro with HMS I have zero problems.

For me Huawei Nova 5t is awesome phone for daily driver. Can imagine this mate 40 pro so much better in speed, battery, camera, so on.. wish can buy this mate 40 pro one day
im using iphone 11 pro nw. but i had bought mate 10 in 2017 and im still using it over 3 years. still speedy and working well. its unfortunate google services not available now on new phones. otherwise camera is the best function in huawei.

I would buy it without a second thought firstly to support them because I think the bans are unfair and tactical. Secondly because I like their products and this one is a great product

@@fanban2926 I have lived in china for 3 years. There are many companies banned in china and they are not even government owned. They don't want other companies to succeed in china. Huawei is government owned that's why it is banned, because they could be a national risk same thing happened to ZTE. China phone makers like Oneplus and Xiaomi are still working all over the world and there is no ban against them

It’s sad we don’t get these in the states. I’m also sad to see Kirin chips going away. They were good competition for that monopoly, Qualcomm.
I have been using mate 30 pro for a year and I am very satisfied. It is the best smartphone I have had. The performance and speed of the phone is the same as at the beginning and I have 100GB of memory occupied. 3000 photos on the phone and over 100 installed applications. The phone works like new. It does not jam. Huawei is the best. I am tempted to buy a mate 40 pro :)

Great video. Such a shame about the US ban, had a p20 pro and mate 20 pro a few years ago and they were both fantastic phones.
I own mine 3rd Mate 10(non Pro) and still love it, but i hate curved displays , otherwise the new Mate 40 is step forward and phone wide enough finaly !
With a little imagination and a touch of know-how apps are within the grasp of most of us. It's a really fantastic phone that ticks all of the boxes. So if it makes you work a little harder than normal on your phones the rewards it offers make it all so worth it. The cameras, performance, epic fast charging, stunning build and design and for once on a Huawei device rich and pretty loud stereo speakers. A case, super charger and earphones in the box to take a little sting out of the high price. However if it's still 200 quid cheaper than the S20 Ultra, though still expensive. I think it's the best phone of 2020 and can't wait till my model comes. Cheers for the video my friend
i will buy one even my M20 Pro UD is working so ideally for me and the M30P for my wife is also working damp good. i use a lot of google apps also while just like the m30pro, i believe in a month or so, the GMS will be runned in the m40P but right now the main concern for me is that, how do i deal with my m20p..

Yeah, that's what I've been saying about importing stuff to every "will it be available in country X" guy.
Sadly... it's a waste of effort.
You see, AVAILABILITY means that a distributor would import this device, land it in a store next to your house, and offer some additional warranty for it.
Will buy 2 of them tomorrow.
Best phone out now getting this for sure. Using the P40 Pro I don't need spying GMS at all, for UA-cam there's UA-cam Vanced, Appgallery, Petal Search, Aurora Store cover everything else.
I just went from a Mate 20 Pro to a Note 20 Ultra and I find myself missing the Mate 20. I seem to get better photos with the old Huawei, the face recognition was so much better and some of the UI was just simpler. Its a massive shame they have lost the google support.
I'm so reluctant to go to samsung...I don't want at all....still holding mate 9... Will see how it goes.

Hardware volume??!? The virtual one on the Mate 30 Pro was awesome - I can use it with either hand! It's GREAT!.
The virtual volume control is still there, huawei add the extra real buttons.

I use air gestures much more than multi-window.
i have the 40 pro and i'm totally fine with it. most of my everyday apps, like google maps are on petal search and even youtube called "youtube vanced" is there... and even better than the normal app.
but it's true, i'm missing some apps, but they're connected to the play store, so even using the apk's couldn't work.
i hope it's getting better, but still... this phone is a beast and i don't regret buying it 😁

i'm trying the phone right now ( bought on 25th June 2021), the phone build quality very good. i am basic user, the apps i need is able to operate well. Some apps which cannot work like Google News, will use web version (add as shortcut). Screen is bright enough, screen colour accuracy is very good, close to natural colours.....

I really love Huawei and their smartphone ecosystem. I would recommend and buy it.
But, however the app (Google Play Store) and other stuff aren't quite available for the phone.
I love Huawei because of their innovations with photography and software, and their ability to make the top flagship smartphones.
Really like the Huawei Mate 40 Series, though. Totally recommend 👌 it.

the apps are there.. the user needs to download them. as you can see this hardware still, to date is top tier.

Ans- Not at all, I ordered my mate 30 from aliexpress last year and it came preloaded with all GMS.

I suggest you use the PWA app in the Appgallary like if you search UA-cam in the Appgallary, you will see a youtube PWA app, you can add to the home screen and use it as an app.

Just bought it and there are so ways to install GSM like gspace or ourplay, it does have a battery drain which i hope i can resolve...
Other than that that phone is superB for everything while battery and camera are top notch!

120HZ display sounds nice but it is not always running, depending on apps and phones. One the phones that forces it to run all the time the battery and temperature suffers. 90HZ is the optimal situation for now.
I wish brands allowed users to choose between 60, 90 or 120 hz to save battery

What people need to consider with the Operating System & Apps Store is that we're in a transition stage. After Harmony OS fully launches next year, we'll see what the phones UI really looks like can really do.
I'm confident they can make a great apps store with the apps we need most. The world deserves a third Operating System. Other's haven't made the effort that we see Huawei making.
I'd love to try HarmonyOS. In fact I hope they will update older phones to new OS as well, perhaps it can give them much needed impetus to get it rolling.
I have a P40 and I would love to switch or update harmony OS. I hope huawei will make the harmony OS available to older phones. I want a new environment.

Well, I will definitely go on with Mate 40 Pro or even with Pro+ version. For many of the Europeans, not having GMS on the board equals not having the phone at all so I guess it won't be that popular as other Chinese makes equipped with GMS. Anyway, I root for Huawei and hope they make a great phone again with cool technology stack, not missing GMS personally.
I saw others installed GMS things onto Huawei on youtube, you may want to try...
