Since Huawei sells so much devices, they have no reason to turn down their offer just because they were going to pass them in sales. I own the Mate 20 X 4G and has to say it's the best phone i ever owned, kinda making me wanna stay on that all the time. Shame to see such a great phone like Mate 40 Pro getting crippled by lack of Google support, but it's still a hell of a phone and i would buy it regardless.
The 50MP ai mode is a game changer, idk why it wasn't mentioned. I use it all the time even at night, the camera experience here is unmatched even in 2022!
also a p40p user here but I cant stop using YTmusic because of my streaming history, but luckily I found the perfect solution from github, have a try with the vanced manager, it will allow u to use apps smoothly without gms. Now I am just waiting for the new map app from Huawei, that's the most exciting thing I found during their recent launch event.
Finally, someone like that ring-shaped cam. N as always very unbiased review unlike some isheeps who were going gaga over last week's phone launch.. with literally no upgrades from last gen.

Great job at not only being first but not cutting corners just for the sake of being first. Love Huawei’s hardware. If only Google would put Huawei’s hardware in one of their Pixel lines it would be perfect but Google just skimps out on a raw hardware and just slaps some clever processing on top of their images which ,while great, really isn’t the best Google can do.
Im glad that despite the hardships Huawei was still able to squeeze that last mayo in the bottle and show the world what it can really do. I hope ppl see their ability to tend to better tech. and give them a hand in help. Samsung tries still to help. A workaround for current Huawei user if u really need GMS (no root no bs just apk install) Vanced manager(Github)+ Apk pure apk pure has most apps from the play store except some regional bank apps(e.g. no CIBC from Canada). UA-cam&YTmusic: install the vanced version from vanced manager and use them with ur google account just like normal. Gmail: Huawei's own email app do support gmail account so no prob here Google maps: run normally after installing the microG from vanced manager, but keep in mind the current microG doesn't support adding an account to google maps so u won't be able to save any location except ur search history. But personally I actually prefer this way since I don't really want google to know my location history. Also, huawei is releasing their own map app just like their petal search, lets wait and see if it can compete with google maps. Netflix: no issue at all after installed microG Uber: same as the above

There is an upgrade. It is cheaper, even if you add the missing buds and charger. Abd the Lidar for watching p*rn. That's all.

I think you can use Huawei's email app and access Gmail through there. Not entirely sure though. Will be buying this killer smartphone soon!
