I got really frustrated with This Gym of Mine because, if you lose to the bad guy boss, it reloads your game to your most recent save. My most recent save was 6 hours ago.
Empyrean is my top 1 fangame. It has everything and more, crazy and long story, they improved and gave purpose to breeding while having the quality of life stuff one would expect, they have a new game plus system (and a pertinent one), a real hard mode with opponents with trained EVs and perfect IVs + very smart features adding spice without feeling "giga unfair" beside a handful of super hard bosses / events, you have a pokemon auction, I mean if you didn't play I won't spoil stuff that isn't in the presentation page, and will then encourage you to try it and probably put it in top 1 like me. I will try unbound that looks amazing tho !
@@AHGavInDaUSA Did you try new game + randomizer, restarting the whoooooooooole process of starter to grind a legendary ? You also can change clock to farm the auction but it's a really tedious process if you don't "mulibox glitch" the fangame

Dude to this day im surprised there's no mention of Desolation anywhere its made by creators of Reborn and Rejuvenation, and its even better. well, atleast for me, dunno about what you guys would think
I'm really just looking for finished games. I played Reborn, it was quite the revelation for me that fangames are far better than official. Rejuv and Desolation take after Reborn, however they're just not done yet. I don't want to dump hundreds of hours into a game, then shelf it and wait a year for updates. I'll wait till they're finished.
I'd put Unbound at #1 too but you missed the best thing about it, the sidequest system. That's what really made it unique because it forces you to explore everywhere, battle in different ways, and use Pokémon you otherwise wouldn't if you want to 100% the game.
Man you gotta try pokemon Phoenix Rising, this game has so many details everywhere like in the librarys inside pokemon centers or even random houses where they developp the lore, it has so many beautiful soundtracks created for every regions and roads you travel, honestly I've never seen a pokemon fangame THAT complete, it could easily be a pokemon branded game (but better cause less childy). Insurgence was amazing tho no argue on that^^ but if you didn't try empyrean, I suggest you do it asap, they teach a lesson of pokemon game design and story telling to game freak. Comparing it with other fangames is hard simply because they have a fantastic new game plus system giving a crazy potential playtime compared to everything existing. They did a breeding system that shames everyone while having quality of life stuff one would expect. This game is an anomaly, a miraculous bug in the matrix. The only fangame I spent month alterning between randomizer and classic mode in successive new game + to farm a dope legendary from breeding just because we can. This game has higher difficulty on their peaks than any kaizo (I ruined several kaizo it's challenging but not fun) but the overall difficulty isn't as suffocating as a kaizo, hard mode won't allow much marging of error but won't be a mental purge like a kaizo, even tho the satisfaction is very much here.
Depends where you live but for the most part yes. There are two main things that depend on if it's legal. First and foremost is the game being sold? This excludes patreon donations. If the game is being sold without Nintendo perms it's illegal because that goes beyond parody which a lot of fan games fall under. Second, is the game entirely built from scratch, or using the pokemon rpg assets? Romhacks fall under modding in a sense which is why a lot of them haven't been struck but games like Uranium came pretty close to stuff to pokemon artwork and stuff. I don't remember what it was but they broke some copyright laws and got sued they mightve reused assets
