Nice seeing video again
Makeup brush 😅
Love it mate, it looks like I've worked my way back through the channel 3 yrs 👍, it's now on the dawn of 2023 and I wish you a great one buddy
Haha, well channel started in 2017 I think so you still have a few years to go !
@@MyRetroWatches half way lol
Yesssss, this was a very nice video, and always inspiring to see someone else's workshop, makes you want to build your own.
Thanks ! hopefully I can do some more digital videos soon too.
Welcome back Mike. The setup is looking great. Good luck.
Thank you Mark really appreciate your comment. I am looking forward to doing more work and making more content.
My desk is a mess. I'm an artist. I use my desk as a computer desk, art desk, watch repair desk and also a catch-all because its that time of year lol. Nothing is getting done until after the new year. lol
Very promising video :) Have a nice day Sir 👍
Thank you.
Very nice
Bought another 7009 5... Japanese market one, won it for the wallet busting price of... 1p plus a few quid posting, has a slate grey dial with applied logos but only quarter hour applied indices and an unbordered day/date window. Found online the movement ring for my other Seiko for a few quid. My current 7009 looks so much better on the 1980's bracelet I pulled off a Seiko quartz.
Great stuff
Thank you Tibi, a bench tour as suggested by your good self. It was a bit rushed and off the cuff though. The usual one take wonder!
Good to see you back up and running Mike. Great setup
Thank you Steve.
I think you'll find the VOH screwdrivers thump the Bergeons pretty handily for vintage screw sizes. You can also get them individually.
Thanks, for now my A & F are fine but its good to know there is something else good out there that is not Bergeon.
I love that retro Seiko clock!!!
Very cool shop, Yes I am a seiko nut as well
Welcome, thank you.
Great setup Mike. Man you got some projects to complete. Cannot wait to see your how to and build videos again.
Nice work area Mike. Good to see you up and running and thanks for the collection videos to keep us going
Thank you Sir. support from the subscribers is what keeps me going. I still have the digital watch collection videos to do..... so many ideas and projects to film I am really not sure which to do next.
Just starting out so it’s very useful to see a few more tools and bits I need to put on my shopping list! 👍
I enjoyed the tour :) Looking forward to videos in your new set up. Cheers!
Thank you sir.
Nice to see that you are back in business, and that you landed on a better place, great , nice setup
Thank you kindly.
Always make it to the end of your videos mate. Loving your work !
haha im glad someone makes it to the end. at some point I will have to put surprise content into the ending of a video to see just how many people view.
Great new place to work, and so many projects awaiting! I'm also very happy you are back again
Thank you kindly.
Spiffing new set up now MB, looks the biz, now you can really get on it!
Glad to see you back in business Michael.
Thanks
Welcome back, place looks great!, love that bench!👍. Let's crack on!.👍. Adrian 🍀🍀
Thanks Adrian!
Great to see u back. Didn't knew about the flood.
Thank you sir.
Wow! What a working corner you have now Mike! Bet you could sit there 24/7!
haha I could Eric for sure, The good lady wife would not like that though. Certainly a step up from my last workbench.
Congrats for all new toy...I want say tools 😁 Really nice this roll-top desk
Thank you. I am enjoying my new surroundings!
Good to have you back again, looking foreward to some repair videoes again. I would love to have that rolltop desk, a great workplace to service watches.
Thank you as always Ole. I will need to raise the desk another 200mm for a better working height. Sadly all my wood was in the garage and was scrapped!
I'd like to see a video where you repair some Balance wheels, it would be really really useful. Thanks and keep up this nice videos!
Hello, I am only just starting out on my hairspring learning journey. I would not really want to film until I could do it well and with only one eye. This is because it has to be done on a microscope. I have a stereoscope but need both eyepieces for field of depth when working on them. filming would take one eyepiece away for the camera.
I am not ruling out filming one in the future but not just yet sorry.
Good video, you have the bug
Nice to see you back, pal!
Thank you George appreciate this from you sir.
Amazing work station but I'm still looking for the "ultimate chinese aliexpress " work station
It's nice to see you are back in the office again and I hope you have fixed the problems that you have had!!!
Thank you. Its a better setup now. In theory another flood could happen but its unlikely. Problem was caused by a collapsed pipe in the main street sewer it backed up and the lowest escape point was my garage.
@@MyRetroWatches you're welcome and I wish you the best of luck with your garage in the future and I really hope that you don't experience another flood of any kind!!!
Thank you for the update, if anyone has a passion for repairing watches. it's always great to see another repairers shop. Enjoyed the tour and look forward to seeing more projects from start to completion. I don't know what it is about Seikos, but I seem to have developed an appreciation for them over the few years I've been working on watches. I think it's there no nonsense way of doing things and there bullet proof reliability. Good luck with the new shop and I'll be watching for more videos coming soon. Thank you.
Thank you Rick, lovely comment so nice of you to take to time to make it. A am slightly addicted to Seiko. I have just finished a project (off camera) that maybe I could make a photo video of, I called it my Rat Watch. it was a parts watch that was awful to look at but was originally an Advan. most of the dial paint was missing and the case is dreadful but I cleaned the part over 3 times and rebuilt. The only part that did not work was the balance and only because the bottom staff was too worn, it would only run one way (dead giveaway sign) I dont have a staking set so just swapped out the balance complete from another donor and I now have a good running watch! I did it for fun / experience but in actual fact it proves the point of just how much punishment a Seiko can take yet still fire up.
Me thinks I got to get a roll top desk just brilliant Mike regards
Thank you. What I have not mentioned is I still need to lift the desk off the floor another 4-5 inches to save my back. This will be done very soon.
New to the channel. Great video!!. It may seem trivial to tour your own bench, but for aspiring amateur watch enthusiasts like myself, its been a real education in the sort of kit we need to think about acquiring. Thanks very much....look forward to the next one.
+Andrew Mcintyre Heloo Andrew , thank you for subscribing and leaving a nice comment. Always nice to know my videos are well received and are helping others as that’s the only reason I do it. UA-cam will never pay much in ads for a tiny channel such as this. I just enjoy passing on what I have learnt over my few years doing this.
Never seen a V8 Seiko before :). Interesting clock though. I hope one day you'll review it.
Nice set up Mike! It puts my messy work space to shame!
Trust me Max it wont be tidy for long.
Great setup! I'm jealous, my "workbench" is my computer desk in my home office...but hey, at least the monitor supplies some functional working light.
haha, I have installed two led 5 foot double strip lights in the garage to give me light. downside could be shaddows in up and coming videos.
Wow , very interesting work bench setup . I'm new on this chanel . i like a lot your videos about watchs (especially digital watch videos) . On 5:26 i seen on shelf a Romanian Coin ( 10 bani )
Hello. Thank you for your comment and welcome to the channel more digital videos will be made when I get interesting projects to film. As for the coil , wow you have good eyes! This is a coin from the owner of the 0634 digital Seikos I show in the video. The owner is Romanian and it was in his box as it fits the battery hatch perfectly. I have just been using it while I service the watches and then it will be returned to him with his watches.
My Retro Watches greetings from the Romanian guy with the 0634! Thank you Mike! Much appreciated! 👍🏻
That's what I call a successful comeback. And well, doesn't look as if you'd get bored soon in the future :D
too many hours will be spent in front of this desk.
Gowan my son! ❤
Raw sewage ... shitty deal. 😏
Welcome back!
indeed, to say I have had some s##t to deal with can be meant literally
Hi I am making a tour on the porch channels on UA-cam and I’d like to ask you can you have a look the company LIP , it’s a French brand that has disappeared with quartz cries and that has reappeared and 2015, they have an awesome history And their vintage watches are awesome
Interesting. Can you tell me what the papers you mentioned are used for? Ta
Peter 2704 watchmakers paper I use if I am cleaning a part and I want it to dry it. I also use it when cleaning mainsprings . It does not leave fibres like tissue would. When I have cleaned parts but not ready to build I will store all parts on the paper in a plastic container. Just helps to keep them clean and free of more dust or other particles
Cool new set up, best of luck with it. Cool t-shirt too, do you sell them?
Thank you sir. T Shirts. I never really thought anyone would want one like this... I am potentially working on a shirt project but its a long way off. Maybe I should incorporate this one
Raw sewage. Terrible I have a desk like that. I put a sofa bamboo desk on top adding 14 iniches and a cooking tray to catch things that fly. Added 14 inches now up to me nose like the pros
Glad to see you up and running again Mike. Nice set up :-) Were you planning on filming the Omega Seamaster as personally I would love to see you work on that. Vince :-)
Hello Vince pal. Thanks for your comment. So the quartz Omega is a little on hold. I basically filmed half of it before the flood. I did on the last day before the disaster found that the coil was broken in a few places. I painted with conductive paint which is usually a 50/50 fix I am yet to rebuild although an initial test did not look so good.
I tend not to post up the failed videos as I dont want to put the viewer through 30 minutes of nothing...
@@MyRetroWatches Cheers Mike, I didn't know about the conductive paint being a possible fix. I suppose it all depends on where the break is. Always good to hear these little tips. Keep up the good work :-)
My Mate VINCE I will email you some pics shortly as I am just literally reading your mail. The conductive paint has worked a few times for me. It’s good if you can see the break (under a scope) I then get a tissue and separate a layer / ply from it . Tear a bit off and roll it in my fingers to give a small point , dip that in a bit of paint and use it to apply . Tissue paper goes to a point that’s much finer than a pin or needle so you can be more accurate.
If you get it right once dried then the coil circuit is complete again and should work
@@MyRetroWatches Brilliant advice. Look forward to the email :-)
Where do you buy stuff from Amazon or ebay ,which online shopping do you use
***** the best Videos..greetings from Germany..speak germany?
Thank you for this comment. sadly I do not speak German.
Hello Mike
Brilliant video as usual. I have enjoyed watching this video. Just a quick question, I love your work top bench. what the name or or model of your work bench? I would like to get one for myself.
Thanks
Hello Sir, thanks for your comment. The bench / desk is not an something that is still made to my knowledge. They are called a roll top desk as there is actually a roll down lid to cover everything. Something I really should have shown in the video! They are usually antique writing desks, this one is a reproduction of an antique. I bought it in a local antiques shop.
@@MyRetroWatches
Ah Thanks Mike, I will look for one
Wonderful video and really nice workbench. I have a question: where can I find those magnifiers at 7:16 ?
Thanks, I bought them from Cousinsuk but you could find these on ebay I am sure.
@@MyRetroWatches Thank you!
Where did you get the yellow organizers?
Cousins UK here: www.cousinsuk.com/product/compartment-tray-revolving
thank you

Chronometer or chronograph? 🤔
Karson Barnes haha well spotted. This video was very off the cuff and in one take. It’s the worlds first digital chronograph ! Thanks
Hello sir, I have been given my late brother in laws vintage seiko 7006-5000 543583. I know you have the same one in your collection and was hoping you could source me the original ss bracelet. This watch means the world to me and I really want to get it back to its former glory. Thanks. Great channel I'm a big fan.
Hello Terry, this is a difficult bracelet to find as I too was looking for one recently for my cousin who has the same watch. The only way to find one is keep looking on eBay worldwide for a watch to be listed that is within reason on price depending on what you are prepared to pay. Save a few searches and be prepared to just search for vintage seiko and trawl though all the pages. The often come up and will sell for any amount of money. Cheap would be £30.00. Thing is you could take the bracelet and sell the watch head for most of what you paid. I will keep my eye out for you but I dont really have the time to do all the searching for you sir.
