Lee I think everyone can agree fitting on that day will improve over off the shelf set up but the discussion is will the fitted club give same results in a week's time when the player could be swinging better / worse / faster / slower , be a good video to see results again with the fitted club in a week's time

Couldn’t agree more. Will be interesting to see. Personally those path and face numbers scare me to my core. I’d definitely be interested to see how the fitting fares if and when he neutralises those numbers.
It’s a shame these were brushed over somewhat. Especially as they increased after fitting. That said, the dispersion on the landing area was tighter.

Totally agree, always get fitted so that your clubs are optimised for your swing.👍
I was with you each step of your fitting process, firstly, a lighter counterbalanced shaft to help Alan get his clubhead speed up and help him to "feel" the clubhead. 2nd change the lie angle to a more upright lie to help correct his "fade".
But I really think that Alan needs to book himself a few lessons with a Coach. That sort out his face-to-path issue and correct his out-to-in club path. I reckon that a decent Coach could fix him in 4 lessons plus a little work on the practice range from Alan. 👍

Good to see you again on the channel Alan! Always get fitted, totally different outcomes for me on fitted Vs non.

I believe there is a HUGE distinction to be made when recommending a club fitting. The only appreciable value created is for a serious golfer that wants to reduce his/her handicap and/or compete in tournaments. The additional expense required for fitted clubs (40-200 percent markup over retail) IS NOT advisable for a recreational golfer. This does not mean that a recreational golfer would not benefit from a club fitting, but it should be clear that there is no appreciable payback for the recreational golfer in terms of money spent on equipment to strokes gained. The readers should know that highly customized golf equipment has no resale markup gain--you "unload" the clubs at the same price as the retail clubs, or less depending on the extent to which they are customized. The club-fitting process is akin to customizing a "Ford" or "Chevy" to make it function more like a "Ferrari." When it comes time for a new car, the old car sells like a "Ford" or "Chevy"--not like the "Ferrari" you paid extra to create. Overall it is best to grow into club-fitting after you have achieved a higher level of competency. For many club fitting will never be a good option.

Absolutely agree fitting should be done when purchasing any club. Other thing to remember is someone may want to buy a particular club however it may not be suitable for them so test other clubs not just shafts during the fitting. I just recently went for a fitting for a new set of irons, tried 4 different irons of a smiliar ilk but the one I was particularly hoping would be for me with the worst performing by a long way. Now waiting for my Mizuno JPX921 Forged to arrive.

Yup I got a shock earlier in the year the difference the shaft made in my irons and my woods

I feel It depends on how much you play and if you take the game to a serious level and do competitions. Club fitting is good but if you are just a once and a while golfer, it should get you started, but all comes down to practicing with them to get the most out of your new club fittings.

Disagree, everyone of all abilities should be fitted. How are you going to get any better with thr wrong clubs. You wouldn't go out to play football in a size pair of 11 boots if you were a size 7 for example. You wouldn't be able to play as good as if you played in the correct size boots.

@@mawilliams1978 Understand what you are saying and I do to some small extent. Yes, I get fitted to my golf clubs in a very small degree. I am a senior golfer now, and the only things I get in my new clubs is to have senior style flex shafts, make my shaft lengths a little longer since I am 6 ft 2 inches tall, and make my grips a little bit over sized. All my clubs are the same and custom designed from one group. But, what I disagree on is I dont spend hundreds of dollars and go hog wild to worry about lie angles and walk through each club to make them fit me perfect far as swing speeds. With the clubs I have i shoot around 40 for nine holes. Hope that clarifies my original post. If not, let me know. take care.

Custom fitting hitting of mats and range balls is absolutely pointless. And let’s be honest is all the amateur golfer is going to get so it pretty much is all a load of waffle. Play what you like and feel and crack on.

Always be fitted if possible. Why would you not want every part of your club to be optimized?

Surely you can only be fitted by how you're hitting the ball on the day. I hit the ball differently every time I play, 3 times a week, so how it it possible to fit in those circumstances?

    • @LWG
      @LWG  3 роки тому

By conversation. You know your game better than a fitter. If your swinging like an arse. Then it’s on you to tell the fitter, who should say come back another day

Hey Lee, have always had my clubs fitted. Even when I was a junior, always had the shaft 3 deg up and longer due to my height.

Best comparison I can make to fitted versus off the shelf is it’s like buying a suit. Off the rack is functional looks ok, take it to a seamstress and they can fit it to you and make it look better, but it probably won’t look as good as a tailor made suit. If you’re fat will the custom suit make you look like Brad Pitt? Of course not, but you’ll look better than with off the rack clothes. Same can be said with custom fitted golf clubs. If you’re a 20 handicap will your game look like a scratch/pro golfer? Of course not. Will you play a few strokes better than your current handicap, it’s quite possible.

Lee the only option I've got for a fitting is American golf I don't think so wouldn't trust them to walk my dog if I had a dog .I would have to to travel down south and for me thats 240 miles .
