@@TheParrottBros well I just tried to fix it and it didn't got well. Everything came off but the new tank is mirrored. It is the same type but it's mirrored and now it's titled sideways and one of the pipes isn't long enough to reach it 😐 can't even turn on my car cuz I'm scared it will overhead and melt something
Top tip. If you have difficulty getting the two hoses back on the new expansion tank, a quick squirt of silicon spray on the pipe nipples, and they slip on real easy.
Great video and you made it look easy, discovered your video as I have a leak in my coolant tank.. I have a MK3 Audi TT, will try and replace myself over the weekend.. And as a result have subscribed to your channel to enjoy more content and hopefully pick up a few steps along the way..
Such an easy one to do, but you still see people running grubby old tanks and it really runs the look of an engine bay. For anyone doing this with older coolant (yours looks lovely and clean!) you can use this as an opportunity to flush through (garden hose in the lower hose from the bottle) and drain from the rad instead :)
You don't need to empty the old one at all, remove it with the cap on and cover the bottom pipe with your finger as you remove that pipe last. Lost maybe half a shot glass of coolant which is nothing. Set the old one to the side so it wont empty, fit the new one and fill it from the old bottle from the bottom pipe. Easiest job ever. PS: The first tool I bought when working on the TT is a pipe clamp tool, its a crappy 10eur one but its still better than trying with pliers.
Gplus sucks big i’ll try that next time, if I have nothing in the bottle then there’s nothing to leak out should I not be able to get my finger over it quick enough 😂. Spent a lot of time getting told off for spilling on a driveway with old cars I have now ordered that tool 👌🏻

@@TheParrottBros I've tried pretty much everything possible on that engine, it had a new starter motor and still doesn't wanna start, the only real possible reason left now is low compression probably either due to piston rings or a hole in the piston. Hi Dominic, Another great video for the TT comunity. Thanks! It is asier than expected. Mine is also yellow instead of black. And sometimes coolant level red warning is activated but the level is correct. I read that this happens when the level sensor is dirty. I supose this sensor goes integrated inside expansion tank. On the subject of coolant.. As far as I've seen everyone says their TT sits at 90 degrees always when warmed up. Mine did too for the first 18months I had it, then one day it overheated. In the garage it turned out to be the fan module was faulty so fans not turning on. They sorted that, still running too hot. Turned out to be the water pump impeller had lost a couple of blades. As standard they are plastic and deteriorate over time. I've got a new pump with a metal impeller, was the same price (maybe actually cheaper I think?)
